OXFORDSHIRE CANINE SOCIETY OPEN SHOW

Sunday 1st March 2020

Firstly, I would like to say a huge thank you to the committee for inviting me to judge at their very friendly, well run show. The ring size was adequate but with a large entry in one class I did have to ask exhibitors to step out of the ring to give each other room to move their dogs. That said, all the exhibitors seemed happy to do this and it didn’t affect my placings.

I was super happy with the entry, especially as there were no absentees on the day and I thank them all. On the whole temperaments were good with a couple being slightly standoffish until I asked them to move the dogs and try again.

 Puppy (1)

1st Green & Sears Alphadal’s Sweet Talker at Judally – A lovely rich liver boy of just 9 months old. He was a little unsettled in the class by himself but showed what potential he has. Lovely well set, broken ears framing a masculine head. Lovely Amber eyes and correct bite. Nice long neck leading into well laid shoulders, with a level top line that he held on the move. Balanced throughout and when settled moved with drive and purpose. Will watch his future with interest. BPIB

Post Graduate (8) What a fabulous class with many going without a card, sadly.

1st Green & Sears Alphadal’s Aint Misbehaving at Judally JW – Another lovely rich liver boy, full brother to my BPIB. At just over 2years old, this boy has really come into his own. His head has matured beautifully with well broken ears that frame his expressive face. Correct amber eyes that draw you in, strong muzzle and correct scissor bite. His elegant neck leads to a balanced frame with equal angulation front and rear. Nice depth of chest. Enough bone leading to tight cat feet. He excels on the move keeping a level topline, also showing that he could go all day behind a carriage. Very happy to award him BOB.

2nd Williams Tolkain Storm King from Phadante JW – 18 month old black spot boy with lovely pigmentation. Well broken ears framing a masculine head but not overdone. Expressive dark eyes, correct muzzle and scissor bite. Good neck leading into well laid shoulders and level topline. Good depth of chest, elbows tight to chest and enough bone. Nice tight cat feet. Overall very balanced throughout and moved with purpose. Just missed out in this class.

3rd Jones and Saunders Dallydyl Merry Fortune.

Open (5)

1St Gibbs Phandante Mr Blue Sky JW ShCM – in my notes I have written ‘All Male!’ and he certainly is! 4.5year old black spot with great pigmentation. Masculine head framed by well set, well broken ears, Lovely dark, expressive eyes with correct muzzle and scissor bite. Strong neck leading to lovely level topline and an overall balanced shape when stood. Good chest and deep, well laid back ribcage. Equal angulation front and rear allowing him to power round the ring. Just missed out for BOB but very happy to award him RBOB and to watch him take BRBOB later in the day.

2nd Evans Lucky Prince of Oaks Farm at Troikadal – 5year old black spot male that sits on a finer frame than my 1st place. Lovely masculine head with well set ears that frame his friendly expressive face. Dark eyes and correct muzzle. Elegant long neck that leads to a level topline which he held on the move. Would prefer a better filled chest, deep ribcage well laid back. Good pasterns and nice tight cat feet. Overall, he has a nice shape to him being balanced and with equal angulation front and rear. He moved with drive from behind and was clearly at one with his handler.

3rd Brennan’s Daymadals In The Mood JW ShCM.
