Barrow & District Kennel Association

Sunday 16th February

Thank-you to the committee for having me judge the working group today.

I wasn’t over impressed with the venue; the floor was far too slippery to access any working dogs movement to the full extent I should be able to. Definitely need more rubber mats if possible, multiple dogs i judged slipped and also the exhibitors!

Thankyou to all the exhibitors who supported me, I had some beautiful dogs to judge.

Alaskan Malamutes

Open dog/bitch:

1st Snow Legend Believe In You Cedarcreek JW (rus imp)

17 month old male who caught my eye instantly as he came into the ring. Beautiful all round, masculine head and oval dark eye, strong neck and sloping topline, chest strong and deep, powerfully built and well-muscled hind quarters. Good coat and held himself well on the move – what a picture!  BOB & WG1. Happy to also see them go BIS later in the day!

2nd Samjoe The Dream Lives On (AI)

Feminine bitch with good head and eye, ears set good width apart. Sloping topline and strong body. good angulation and moved ok. Just preferred the whole outline of 1. RBOB

Dobermann

Post grad dog/bitch:

1st Queens Demantur

A medium sized bitch - very feminine, head in proportion to body with good depth of muzzle, almond shaped eye and ears set well just on the bigger side for me. Square body and decent sized chest. Sloping topline and smooth black coat. Long well bent stifle but would like a little more muscle on her. Moved well considering the floor! RBOB

Open dog/bitch:

1st Amazon Touch The Breeze In Millwood

A 3 years old bitch that’s well matured. Clean cut head and good depth of muzzle with tight lips, top of skull flat , black nose, correct eye and small neat ears. Strong square body, sloping topline and well muscled hindquarters. Tight feet, Moved well, free with good reach and rear drive. BOB & WG3

2nd Queens Demantur (see above post grad class) RBOB

Newfoundland

Junior dog/bitch:

1st Parkbears Diamond Girl

17 month old bitch who is well balanced but needs time to mature more. Broad enough head and short muzzle. Dark eye and ears lying close to head. Strong neck set well onto shoulder, broad enough back, level topline and decent chest. Double flat dence coat laying flat to body. Hindquarters not as strong as I would like but I think with time she will develop. Moved ok, slightly loose on the front but putting that down to age and the floor! RBOB

Post grad dog/bitch:

1st Parkbears First Edition

4 years old mature male giving a balanced picture in profile.  Broad head clean cut short muzzle, scissor bite and small ears set well back. Strong neck, well ribbed body and straight front. Substantial bone throughout, strong hindquarters, moved well. BOB & WG4

Rottweiler

Post grad dog/bitch:

1st Jianerot Jeffery

2 year old masculine male. Well matured for his age. Strong head and jaw and cheeks well boned. Dark dark, black nose with large nostrils and high set ears. Arched neck leading into shoulders that are well laid back. Deep chest and well sprung ribs, straight back, stifles fairly bent and again strong and well-muscled throughout. Coat coarse and flat, toes round and compact as they should be. Moved with a purpose and good in strength. BOB & WG2

2nd Rottamore Bloodstream

Another 2 year old but a bitch, very feminine to look at, smaller around but still the strong fit outline they should have.

Quite standoffish today to go over but held her own on the move.  Lovely head and eye, strong jaw. Good topline, and rear angulation. Moved well. RBOB

Puppy Stakes

A lovely entry of puppy in this class with lots of quality and potential throughout.

1st Rockllocers Bold Berry (Cocker Spaniel)

Just 6 months but held her own! Blue roan in colour. Well balanced for age, square muzzle with full dark eye, low ears and scissor bite. Moderate length of neck leading into sloping shoulder and clean throat. Compact body that was square and deep brisket. Good bend of stifle and well boned. Moved beautifully with plenty of drive behind!

2nd Hibeck Freddie Flintstone (Basset Fauve De Bretagne)

Another 6 month old that caught my eye straight away being well balanced throughout, short legs and rough coat. Beautiful head with lively expression. Short muscular neck, level topline and straight forelegs. Chest to develop more but prominent sternum there. Strong hindquarters and tight feet. Moved well striding out around the big ring we had.
