WHIPPETS

I was delighted to be invited to judge at this show, one of the very first I attended when I began showing my beloved whippets. On the day I had a lovely entry although a number of exhibits seemed a little unsettled which made some decisions difficult.

PUPPY (2)      1. Smith’s Northwhip Never Say Never at Coynachie. Pretty expression, fine ears, long elegant neck leading into smooth, well laid back shoulders, moderate bladed bone, good spring of pastern and neat feet. Pleasing topline which she held well on the move. Moved out nicely. BPIB. 2. Ballantyne & Wilson’s Jasarat Valentino for Speymalt. Good size male with nice head and kind expression. More compact and curvy than 1 and with more angulation behind. Nice fill in front and again moved well. Just a little skittish today.

SPECIAL YEARLING (3)     1. Downing-Christie’s Orange Crush Des Plaines Des Bruyeres (IMP FRA). Well-muscled, masculine dog shown in good, hard condition. Appealing expression with dark eye, strong neck leading into smooth shoulders and good fill in front. Moved away freely but could’ve been tidier in front. Good reach and drive. 2. Cuthbert’s Marvidara Be My Baby at Lunaire. Pleasing outline to this young male who is nicely balanced and moderate in all respects. He ticked a lot of my boxes but I would’ve liked him to have been a little more together coming and going.  3. Smith’s Marvidara Baby Driver at Cardinghill

POST GRADUATE (4)      1. Smith’s Lorbri Reet Petite. Pretty brindle with white trim, long elegant neck, good bone and tight feet. Correct bend of stifle with hocks well let down. Shown in lovely condition, nicely muscled with a well-developed second thigh evident. A little unsettled on the move today. 2. Leslie’s Agrith Ailis White Heart. Classic fawn, feminine head, good length of neck leading into nice lay of shoulder and a pleasing front. Well ribbed. Nothing exaggerated about this young lady. A little nervy on the table today but moved well. 3. Downing-Christie’s Zigouse Caught by the Wind

LIMIT (3)     1. Smith’s Coynachie Call Me Crazy. Pretty brindle with feminine head and neat ears. Would’ve preferred a little more strength of underjaw. Smooth shoulders, well filled front, nicely ribbed with good pasterns and correct angulation behind. Moved out well.  2. Thomson’s Marvidara The Flower Girl at Eilloot. Blue fawn with moderate bladed bone. Would have liked a little more fill in front and consequently depth of brisket. Neet feet. Moved well.  3. Downing-Christie’s Mossbawnhill Still Reignin with Zigouse

OPEN (5)     1. Ballantyne & Wilson’s Speymalt Aurora Solstice. Substantial fawn bitch without being overdone. Nicely muscled throughout. Soft expression, elegant neck leading into smooth shoulders and a pleasing topline. Well sprung ribs with deep brisket and nice fill in front. Moved well in profile and true coming and going. Delighted to award her BOB. 2. Downing Christie’s Zigouse Kiss the Stars. Pretty light fawn, much the same as 1 but marginally lost out today on movement coming and going. 3. Smith’s Coynachie Crazy for Love
