Ashton In Makerfield Canine Society - 29/02/2020

Rottweiler

Puppy D/B – 3 entries

1) Torsite The Hulk – male of 8 months, well balanced youngster on first view, appears masculine and mature despite needing to firm up which will come with age. Nice broad skull leading to good ear set/shape. Nice dark eye with good muzzle. Good mouth. Strong neck leading to well set shoulders. Hopefully his chest will deepen with maturity. Nicely angulated front and back. Lovely movement coming, going and around. Coat of correct texture with good colouring. BPIB. Thrilled to see him take WPG1.

2) Torsite Oh So Scrumptious – and she is! Bitch of 6 ½ months. Very much the baby of the class and unlucky to meet 1 on top form today. Obviously lots of maturing still to do. Lovely feminine head of correct structure, nice dark eye with lovely ear size and set. Well balanced in stance with nice angulation.

3) Rudy of Torma House (Imp Srb)

Junior D/B – 2 entries

1) Wildheart Athena At Virlees – bitch of 12 months. What a lovely feminine expression. Skull of good width, nice dark eye and well set ear of lovely size and shape. Good mouth. Chest deepening well. Good neck leading to well-placed shoulders. Nice level top line with good angulation both front and rear. Moved well and with purpose. Correct coat with good markings. Still a young herself so maturity and firming up to do. BOB.

2) Alkido’s Jimmy Greaves – male of 14 months. Not as well balanced as 1. Nice mouth. Head Ok, would prefer more substance overall. Neck needs to strengthen and chest deepen although he is also still a youngster so this could come with maturity. Felt he was slightly paddling in front today on the move.

Finnish Lapphund

Puppy – no entries

Junior – no entries

Limit – 1 entry

1) Bridus Ukkonen ShCM – male of 5 years. Lovely expression with good mouth and ear set although it would be beneficial for him to use them a little more. Nice eye of correct colour, shape and size. Profuse coat of correct texture. He is well balanced and moved well in all directions.

Open – 1 entry

1) Oberitz Upponalle – male of 4 years. Beautiful expression with good mouth, lovely eye shape and colour, ears of a nice size and set. Well balanced boy in body with good strong movement in all directions although would like to have seen him to use his tail more. BOB.

Junior Handling Association

6-11 years

1) Maisie Allenby (age 11). This young lady listened to my instructions throughout and carried them out perfectly. She was smartly dressed and polite during the class. Her table work was neat and she was unobtrusive when showing her dogs teeth. Her pattern work was excellent along with her straight up and down. She never put a foot out of place, she never broke the ‘golden rule’ and she didn’t over-handle which was great to see. Best junior handler.

2) Zoe Hudson (age 9). My first two could change places on another day. Another young handler who listened to my instructions and executed without fault. The only thing that let her down in this class was her nervousness which caused her to fidget with the dog’s feet a little.

12-16 years

1) Claudia Dalchow (age 13). All handlers in this class broke the ‘golden rule’ which was disappointing. Despite that one point, this young lady is a gifted handler. She spoke softly to her charge at all times and their bond was clear to see. She was calm when being judged and showed the mouth well. She followed my instructions and moved at a nice speed for the dog. Smartly dressed to compliment.

2) Ishbel Hardie (age 14). Along with breaking the ‘golden rule’ she also sadly, when being judged, missed me move the foot of the dog. Teeth were showed well and the dog moved at a nice pace. Standing square in front of me upon finishing movements is preferred and more attention to the whereabouts of the judge in the ring is required. Another smartly dressed to compliment.

Adult Handling

17-39 years

1) Sophie Wildig. A young lady that I’ve judged and admired before. She carries out everything asked of her to perfection although if I was going to be a little picky I would have preferred for her to return to my feet after the straight up and down before standing. Excellent table work with faultless showing of teeth. Excellent straight lines and awareness of the judge. Another smartly dressed although black tights with a black dog… Best adult handler.

2) Lorna Dandy. Another great handler. No issues when being judged with unobtrusive showing of teeth. She had a tendency to move the dogs feet too much and her triangle could’ve been a better, more equal shape. She moved at a nice pace with her charge and they appeared to have a great bond.

40-59 years

1) Austin. Aware of the judges positioning at all times. Nice, neat table work and no issues with showing teeth. Equal triangle and nice straight up and down.

2) Nicola McCraken. Another with nice table work and no issues showing teeth. She did however break the ‘golden rule’ and at one point stepped over the dog which I’d prefer didn’t happen.

60 years +

1) L Yewdall. She worked well with her dog and didn’t put a foot wrong in this class. No issues under the judge and moved her dog at a nice pace. To be picky I felt there was a little too much over-handling; I’m not a fan of ‘dancing around the dog’ when shadowing, it needs to be more of a natural movement out of the way of the judge.

2) Susan Taylor. A sympathetic handler with good table work and showed teeth well. She moved her dog well and carried out nice pattern work.
