Cleveland Dog Society

Thank you to the committee for the kind invitation to judge at this superbly run and very friendly show. The atmosphere all day was absolutely wonderful, all of the stewards excellent and the catering provided by Margaret and Alec simply perfect. It is definitely a show not to be missed! My thanks also to the exhibitors for their entries and good sportsmanship.

Whippet

Junior (2, 1)

1st) Metcalfe’s Aarminias Dance Like A Dafty, just 6 months old & this chap was rather full of himself. Up to size & rangy at the moment, but he has time on his size. Good head and proportions, keen expression & ears of good size. Enough neck and well laid shoulder, correct topline when standing and moving. Can settle to advantage on the move, but what I did see was accurate and true.

Open (2, 1)

1st) Rogerson’s Kessem The Bourn Legacy, 3.5 years old and this bitch was beautifully balanced, presenting a good picture when standing and moving. Loved her head and eye, typical throughout. Good reach of neck, enough chest & well laid shoulders. Little to dislike and very much of a piece all through. Accurate and sound on the move & perfectly handled. BOB.

Rhodesian Ridgeback

Open (3, 0)

1st) Greeves’ Hespa Hermes JW, almost 6 years old male who is upstanding & the picture of strength. Flattish skull, well balanced throughout in head & powerful muzzle. Dark round eyes, full of expression. Well laid shoulders and neck of reasonable length, deep chest and well sprung ribs; cleanly muscled throughout and he moved with a good, free stride in profile.

2nd) Hall’s Matsushona Fire Opal of Cynami, 2 years & different in shape and size to the winner. Also a lot to like, though to my eye the expression of the winner was better; free & active mover and so well handled.

3rd) Hall’s Msingi All About Me of Cynami Saluki

Open (2, 1)

1st) Peirson’s Classicus Omarion, before I even saw the breeding of this 6m old g/w parti-colour, I was able to guess! So typical of this famous kennel & I have no doubt if he continues to develop in this way, then he will have an exciting career ahead of him. Long and narrow in head, dark eyes & full of alertness and expression. Long ears, set correctly to aid expression. Beautiful to go over and stands on good legs & feet. Moved with such accuracy, ease and self-assuredness. Exciting prospect. BOB & BPIB.

Basenji

Graduate (1, 0)

1st) Elliot’s Orange Moon Mysterious Talisman (IMP BLR), 15 months or thereabouts; good head an eye, correct expression and keen outlook, enough layback of shoulder and fair return of upper arm, good chest & well ribbed, firm top line and went with a free and easy stride. Can still settle to advantage.

Open (3, 0)

1st) Casentieri’s Adebanke’s King Cole, typical all through, good proportions to skull & nice expression, eyes a bit round, small ears well set and placed. Good neck and forehand, well spring ribs with some depth to them. Balanced body, well muscled and high set tail. He moved with good reach and drive & went with an easy, effortless stride in profile. BOB.

2nd) McGee’s Mozart Mysterious Talisman (IMP BLR), close up to the winner and similar in many prospects. Perhaps a little better in eye and so expression, but not quite the style of the winner or the carriage on the move & so paid the price, but another lovely one; well handled and presented.

3rd) Falcus’ Marsala Mysterious Talisman (IMP BLR)

Dachshund (Min Long Haired)

1st) Mason’s Tolberg Beez Kneez at Teckletown, red bitch of 2.5 years old, presents a lovely outline. Good head and eye, conical and well proportioned, could have better shoulders & more neck, good keel and well ribbed throughout, firm top line and neat underline. Carried herself well on the move and went with an easy action.

2nd) Jackson’s Tolberg Spelltacular, shaded cream and a veteran b; so pretty and such a sweetie, liked her head and eye, good to go over & just carrying a small bit too much weight on the day, sound fore and aft & presented to perfection.

Dachshund (Min Smooth Haired)

1st) Hudson’s Teckletown Raindrops, 6 month old chubby little b/t bitch and very nice throughout. Head can come on a little for strength, but she has time. Good neck and shoulder, firm topline and she stands on good legs and feet. Moves with a sound, easy action; driving from the rear and returning true in front. Gleaming coat and most promising.

2nd) Mason’s Teckletown You're The One JW, b/t bitch of 2.5 years old and one I have admired before. Still like her a lot and she is very striking, keen expression, well bodied and in good muscular condition. Moved with good verve and style, just preferred the ground clearance of the winner; another nice one.
