Firstly I would like to thank the committee of Goyt Valley Gundog for the invitation to judge at their show, I was absolutely delighted to be asked to judge this lovely breed as well as my own (Italian Spinone) and I was impressed with the quality of the dogs entered under me. Thanks must also go to all exhibitors who kindly gave me an entry I am always humbled and honoured for the support and thank you all for accepting my decisions with good grace.

Hungarian Vizsla Puppy (2 Entries) 1st McDonald’s Pawprint Geller for Donurie (IMP HUN) NAF TAF A quality 6-month-old dog well-balanced throughout, masculine head with good width and correct proportion. Balanced in profile with good layback of shoulder and enough rear angulation enabling him to move well and with confidence. Shown in excellent condition. BPIB

2nd Warrington’s De Merral She’s a minx 7-month-old bitch, feminine head with the sweetest of expressions, strong jaw with correct scissor bite, well set ears and eyes of correct colour and shape. Not quite the front angulation of 1st, but good moderate rear angulation with good muscle and very well-muscled 2nd thigh. Show in very good condition, however her handler tended to stack her so she looked roached which spoilt her outline when stood. I feel I did not see the best of her on the day.

Junior (1 Entry) 1st Govier’s Goviz Autumnal Glow A pretty bitch of 15 month, good head of correct proportions, I would prefer eye to darken a fraction to compliment her lovely rich russet colour, she is not yet mature and needs to drop into her frame a little to complete the picture, however she has sufficient forechest, a level top line and has good balance fore and aft, shown in hard condition. Today she stood alone in this class but very much deserved her first place here.

Postgraduate (1 Entry) 1st Rollings and Verity’s Vizslanya Szellem Es Sors 2-year-old dog, stood alone here today, but gave a fair account of himself none the less. A balanced dog with a good head of correct proportions and good scissor bite, he has good front angulation leading into strong neck and a level top line. He has a deep chest with good forechest and is well ribbed back, good bone and moving ok he was shown in good coat and condition.

Open (2 Entries) 1st Bradley’s SH CH Vizslanya Vivmany by Highforce JW ShCM ShCEx 5-year-old bitch that took my attention when she entered the ring, she is quality through and through and I was not surprised later to learn she is a worthy show champion, standing she presents such a balanced outline, her head is feminine and of correct proportions with lovely eye of correct colour and shape, her neck is strong leading to well-muscled shoulders with excellent angulation. She has good depth and width to her chest, enough forechest and her ribs are well sprung, she has well-muscled thighs and moderate angulation which she uses to full effect when moving shown in excellent condition and handled very well to take BOB.

2nd Hardcastle & Bradley’s Vizslanya Sziena JW 2-year-old bitch, another quality bitch from this kennel and I see she is litter sister to my postgraduate winner and indeed she shares a lot of the same desirable traits. she has a lovely feminine head, very good angulation throughout and shown in excellent hard condition, she pushed first hard when standing however she wasn’t as settled on the move and this ultimately cost her here.
