East Anglian Staffordshire Bull Terrier Club

Special Award Classes

Saturday 8th February 2020

Firstly, I would like to thank the Officers and Committee of the Club for the invite to judge at their show and the welcome and hospitality afforded me. EASBTC have a reputation of pulling out all the stops and making every show a memorable event for all and this was no different. My 2nd opportunity to judge SAC and a fantastic entry overall which was a credit to the main show judge and the hard work of the club. But, with a great entry comes tough decisions. The show was exceptionally well organised and a lovely atmosphere. Many thanks to my 2 Ring Stewards , Debbie and Kim, who did a great job keeping me in line and making things run smoothly and last but by no means least a huge thankyou to every exhibitor that gave me the opportunity to assess their dogs and the sporting way in which my decisions were accepted. I just wish I had cards for everyone

Special Award Puppy Dog / Bitch (5, 2 abs)

1st Fairlenium Queen of Marvel (Fairhurst Mr S and Mrs M, 10.03.19) Smart dark brindle bitch with white patches on front and tips of toes. Lovely feminine and well defined head on this youngster with correctly placed round , dark eye , clean lipped and correct dentition with good underjaw . Nice tidy ears which were used well to create a pleasing expression which could not fail to catch my eye . Correct angulation front and rear and presented in excellent condition for her age . Rib coming along nicely and enoug bone to create an overall very tidy little bundle that looked good from all angles. Moved ok out and back and handled well, will watch with interest to see how she matures, well done.

2nd Borgstaff Nightswatch (Guiver and Barren JM & JS, 01.06.19) Black Brindle dog with small white patch on chest. Overall much stronger than my first place with plenty of bone, short powerful neck leading into correct shoulders with plenty of width to front and tidy feet. Head developing nicely, ears ok and eyes dark enough, ok for underjaw and correct dentition. Moved ok and handled well, just preferred the head and expression on my first place but always a difficult comparison pitching bitch against dog. Lots of time on this boy’s side to complete the picture good luck for the future

3rd Georgie Poergie Pops (Walker Miss N, 08.07.19) Red dog with white chest and the youngest of the class today. Head ok with a little more length to muzzle than my first 2 and up on the leg at this stage. Seemed to be enjoying his time in the ring and making his handler work hard but settled whilst being assessed, moved ok just lacked a lot in maturity to 1st and 2nd

Special Award Open Dog (12, 5 abs)

1st Illori Back Chat (Williams Mrs T and Mr PA, 31.10.16) Smart Black Brindle with strong well-defined head of pleasing shape. Tidy ears that were used well throughout class to command attention. Dark enough eye and clean in the lip with a decent underjaw and correct dentition. Lovely clean, straight front and correct shoulders, neat feet and well ribbed with a powerful rear end that took him out and back with ease. Fitness was commendable it being clear that his owner puts a lot of work into this well-balanced dog. Handled to advantage making the very most of the time in the ring.

2nd Powerpack a Tisket a Tasket (Woodward M, 18.10.15) Black brindle with small white patch on chest, just a little lighter in bone than first place and a little less strength in head though minor points on yet another smart dog. Eyes dark enough and tidy ears creating pleasing expression. Correct front and rear angulation, neat feet and again presented in great condition. Held a level topline both stacked and on the move, handled well

3rd Dazmarnic Know Wot I Mean JW ShCM (Jordan Mrs RSJ 25.02.16) Red dog I have judged before of good quality , well defined head and dark eye with a very good view in profile , moved and handled well though he appears to have put a touch of weight on and just enough for me to tip the scales in favour of my 2nd place on this occasion

Res Fairlenium’s Iron Man (Fairhurst Mr S and Mrs M, 10.05.17)

VHC Labrastaff Curious George (Gardner Miss F, 17.11.12)

Special Award Open Bitch (15, 2 abs) I’d just like to note that this class was oozing quality and I had an incredibly tough time to sort out my places , no doubt that very minor points made a big difference and a cliché but I genuinely wished I had more cards to give , leaving the ring feeling very honoured to have had the opportunity to judge such a strong class

1st Chiswellstaff Black Velvet at Kamaristaff JW (Jones Mrs KM, 23.11.18) Black Brindle of outstanding quality and one I have admired from ringside. I wasn’t disappointed in the slightest when I got my hands on her. She is without doubt a very pretty bitch but at the same time possessing good strength for size. Extremely well presented with gleaming coat. Beautiful head, dark enough eye clean lipped and a lovely set of big white teeth with a good amount of underjaw. Clean front of good width with very neat padded feet. Correct front and rear angulation and put down in hard, fit condition with rear quarters of steel. She was handled well and made good use of the mat moving out and back with ease , topline holding rock steady and also when stacked, thankyou for bringing her and I will be disappointed if I don’t see her do really well in future.

2nd Illori Bootie Luv ( Rowe & South Miss G & Mr D, 31.10.16 ) Black Brindle bitch possessing many of the same qualities of my 1st place , nice clean and strong head with good width and depth to skull , dark enough eyes and neat ears used well to give a pleasing expression , clean lipped and a good underjaw with correct dentition. Another very well presented and handled bitch in top notch condition and a credit to her owner. Held her topline well both stacked and on the move and went well out and back. Unfortunately for her not quite the sparkle today of the winner but a smashing bitch that that did well to take 2nd in this fantastic class, thank you for bringing her.

3rd Nerotoro Cosmic Girl JW (Mann Mrs VR & Mr SE, 12.02.15) Black Brindle Bitch that I have often had the pleasure of sharing ring time with and admired. She is a very pretty bitch with a very pleasing head and beautiful expression when coaxed, though a finer type to my 1st and 2nd place with a little more lift and lighter on bone , which in comparison decided my places but could not deny her a position somewhere at the top of this class acknowledging her obvious quality . Presented in beautiful condition, moved ok and held a good level topline both stacked and up and down the mat, handled well, thankyou for allowing me to get my hands on her.

Res Elitebull Destiny (Desmond Mrs DL & Mr AJ, 14.11.15)
