Siberian Huskies – Judge Mrs Catherine Heaton (VOLKADEN)

Thank you to Lichfield Society for inviting me to judge Siberian Huskies. Although a low entry I was delighted by the quality of my entrants. The ring although a little narrow had sufficient length to observe the movement of the dogs, a necessity in the ability to judge our breed.

P (0/0); J (0/0); PG (1/1) 1 FLETCHER’s Azgard Nimbus 2 year G/W brown-eyed male. This happy boy took my eye as soon as I saw him in the ring and on closer inspection he didn’t disappoint. Masculine head, correct sized ears, which I would have preferred to be set a closer together. Lovely obliquely set almond-shaped eyes. Excellent black pigmentation around eyes and lips. Chest not too wide and correct depth, nicely laid back shoulders and correctly shaped ribs. Correct angulations (front and rear) and correct overall proportions. Height within breed standard specifications. Level back, good loin and lovely angle to croup, nicely set well-furred tail, which he held in the required sail-like manner. He was a little unsettled on the moved but was true when viewing from the front and rear. When viewed from the side he had a good length of stride. BOB  O (1/1) 1 FLETCHER’s Azgard Cascade. 8 years old brown-eyed G/W bitch. The first thing I noted about this lovely girl was her pretty foxy head, then her excellent deep coat. Correctly set oblique brown eyes, which were nearly amber in colour. Correct bite and good black pigmentation. Her correctly shaped and sized ears were set a little too wide. In stand and viewed from the side she appeared a little short in length, however, on the move she allowed herself to stretch out and demonstrated correct proportions and a level back. She was very light on her feet, but skittish, pranced and high stepped on the move. This made it difficult to assess her movement but she was true out and back. RBOB
