Cocker Spaniel

PGrad (5, 1abs)

1st Craig. Alisma Alwena. 7 month blue roan bitch overflowing with enthusiasm and charm. Loved her head with its refinement, dark well shaped eye and balanced ratios. Short and cobby with a well-developed body and rib for age, very sturdy throughout with cracking angulation front and rear. Her energy and character bubbled through on the move where she showed the true merry cocker action. BP BOB

2nd Parkhouse. Shivani Summer Breeze. Striking B/W bitch with a strong topline. Feminine in head with correct eye and nicely shaped skull. Good length of neck leading into shoulders, would like a touch more upper arm to balance her front, well sprung rib and firm coupling. She showed a good profile movement.

3rd Meaker. Kalispell Calamity Jane at Meakwood

Open ( 4, 2abs)

1st Harvey. Tomerine Super Trooper. Mature black dog, well up to size with substance to match. Masculine head, square muzzle and dark well set eye. He was strong in outline with a really good front assembly, depth and spring of rib. Broad thighs gave a strong driving movement. Put down in excellent coat and condition.

2nd Parkhouse Sandlauga Magic Spell of Shivani. Really loved this black boy’s head, beautiful proportions and a hint of cheek in his expression. Good reach of neck leading to a firm topline but not quite as well set in front as my winner. Plenty of deep ribs with a good spring and firm loin. Showed a strong rear action but was a little excitable in front.

1st Lewis & Bullock.Trixhund Foxtrot Oscar. 7 month dog who struggled a little with the flooring but it did nothing to hide his classic outline. Kind soft eye set under strong brows with the promise of fluting to come. Strong neck flowed beautifully into a cracking forehand with plenty of brisket. Correctly coupled with a broad thigh he really came alive on the move showing true front action and powerful rear propulsion. BPIB

1st Lewis & Bullock. Trixhund Talking Obsession JW ShCM ShCEX. Mature dog of excellent size and substance, classic head with almond eye, lean cheeks correct length and depth of muzzle leading nicely into a slightly rounded skull and firm neck which continued smoothly into strong forequarters with good layback of shoulder and deep well sprung rib. Well muscled rear with tight feet giving a stylish driving movement. BOB

PGrad (2)

1st Johnston. Nalydris Hakuna Matata. 22 month bitch of the correct size with just the right amount of bone. Very pretty in head with a kind bright eye and nicely placed ear. Clean through the neck and shoulder with a pleasing front and rib, slightly longer cast than I prefer, broad stifles gave driving, animated movement which won her the class.

2nd Martin. Ferndel Fooling You of Meadway. Strongly built bitch of good size and substance with a well-defined head, just a little strong in stop at the moment but still only young. Balanced in angulation with enough rib underneath a well held topline. Just not as steady on the move as my winner.

Open (5, 3abs)

1st Williams. Isfryn Spot the Difference Trebettyn. To me this boy is a traditional Welsh Springer of the type I grew up with, I just loved his classic outline, true proportions and correct size and substance. Honest, workmanlike head with a kind eye and well set ear. Lovely neck and shoulder with plenty of well sprung ribs and a broad rump. He was so clean and tidy on the move every time of asking. BOB

2nd Rees. Hudolus Rhys Henllys at Typica ShCM. Very flashy mature boy with a beautiful head and eye. Good layback of shoulder but slightly steep in upper arm which was apparent in his movement coming towards me. Held his topline well on the move and showed a strong rear action.
