Boston & District Canine Society

Breed: Beagle

I would like to thank the officers and committee of Boston DCS for my invitation to judge Beagles and to my stewards for their assistance. I would also like to thank the exhibitors for my lovely quality entry.

Beagles

Puppy Dog (4,1abs) 

1st Simkin’s EARDLEY WILL POWER AT SIMELDAKA - 9 month old tri male shown in excellent condition. Handsome well balanced boy with correct masculine head, dark eye and kind expression. Nice length of neck into well laid back shoulder. Compact with firm level topline and good tail set. Good bone, short pasterns and neat feet. Straight mover fore and aft and tracked up in profile. Best mover in the class. 

2nd Harrison’s SERENAKER DREAM WARRIER - 6 month old tri baby of a nice size, compact and sturdy with pleasing outline. Lovely head with soft expression, good pigmentation and correct ear set. Level topline, well ribbed back. Good straight forelegs with plenty of bone, hocks well let down. Good profile movement. Preferred fore and aft movement of 1st today.

Junior Dog (4)

1st & BD Craig’s DAVRICARD JACOB – 13 month old tan and white boy shown in top class condition. He has a well proportioned clean masculine head with a defined stop. Good length of neck, level topline, well ribbed back with short loin and good tail set. Well balanced front and rear angulation. Straight forelegs with good bone and tight feet. Hocks well let down. Moved with purpose. Straight fore and aft with reach and drive in profile.  

2nd Edge & James-Dow’s JALHAR THE WONDER OF YOU – 12 month old blanket tri male. Masculine head with kind expression, correct ear set, dark eye and good dark pigmentation. Nice reach of neck and shoulder lay back, good return of upper arm, depth to body, plenty of bone, moved out well with good drive on profile movement.

Post Graduate Dog (7,3abs)

1st Phillpot’s CHARTERWOOD STORM – 17 month old tri boy of nice size, compact and balanced with nothing overdone. Good head with mild expression, dark pigment and correct ear set. Good length of neck and level topline, well ribbed back. Good limbs with enough bone, steady sound mover both fore and aft and in profile.   

2nd Coate’s IRINSTYLE EAGLE IN FLIGHT TO GLADSTYLE (IMP RUS) – 21 month old handsome tri boy with clean head, dark eye and defined stop. Correct layback of shoulder and good depth of body. Plenty of bone, hocks parallel and well let down. Excelled in profile movement, really covered the ground, Close decision, preferred overall balance and front movement of 1st today.

3rd Leader’s ROSRODENS DEBONAIR  


 Open Dog (5,1abs) 

1st & RBD Edge & James-Dow’s FALLOWFIELD XAVIOR OF JALHAR – 21 month old open tri male who I have judged previously, he is maturing nicely. Super head, he has the softest, kindest melting expression while still being masculine. Good length of neck with nice arch. Correct lay back of shoulder and return of upper arm, firm level topline, compact with balanced angulation. Good ground covering mover showing excellent reach and drive on profile and straight fore and aft.  

2nd Lovatt’s BJORNHAGEN SWEET BAY LEAF JW – sound tri boy who was nicely presented. Balanced outline with no exaggerations, compact and a lovely size. He also has a good head with a soft appealing expression, good pigmentation and correct bite. Straight forelegs with good round bone. Moved out well all ways. Very close decision, just thought 1st excelled in profile movement today.

Special Beginners Dog (1)

1st Leader’s ROSRODENS DEBONAIR – 3 yr old tri boy, all male with strong masculine head, dark pigment, correct ear set and length. Large build, well balanced with plenty of bone. Straight legs with short pasterns. Well handled and moved out well in profile. 

Puppy Bitch (11,3abs)

1st RBB and BP Craig’s BAYARD GLORY BEE – Stunning 6 month old tan and white baby who caught my eye as soon as she entered the ring and certainly didn’t disappoint on closer inspection. Balanced outline. The prettiest of heads, equally proportioned, soft and feminine with good pigment and perfect ear set. Nice arch to good length of neck, well laid shoulder and firm straight topline which she held on the move. Good quarters with plenty behind the tail. Straight limbs with good round bone, short pasterns and tight feet Moved straight and true fore and aft with super reach and drive in profile. I predict a bright future for this young lady, definitely one to watch! Delighted to see her take puppy group 4. 

2nd Brown’s VANITONIA BRIONY - 9 month old open tri, lovely honest girl with a lot to like. Pleasing outline, compact and well balanced with no exaggerations. Feminine head with kind eye and dark pigment. Nice reach of neck and level topline, well ribbed back with short strong loin and well developed hind quarters. Good depth of body, plenty of bone. Moved straight fore and aft and showed good drive in profile. Another girl who I will watch with interest.

Junior Bitch (9,2abs)

1st Cousin’s VIRACOCHA ONYA MARKS - eye catching 15 month old blanket tri of nice size and substance, presented in excellent condition. Lovely feminine head with soft expression, dark eye good pigment and correct bite. Good reach of neck, firm level topline with good tail set. Balanced front and rear angulation, round bone and neat feet. Sound mover, covered the ground showing good reach and drive in profile.

2nd Hunt, Norris, Carmichael & Starbrook’s SHERCROFT LIBERTY – well presented 15 month old, tan & white eye catching girl with a pleasing outline. Nicely proportioned head with melting expression, dark eye and correct bite. Good forehand, firm level topline with correct tail set on and carried well. Straight forelegs with good bone and tight feet. Moved out well fore and aft, close decision, preferred profile movement of 1st today.

Open Bitch (8,3abs)

1st BB & BOB Parker & Steven’s CH SERENAKER MAID IN AMERICA - 2yr old beautifully presented compact tri girl. She’s like a fine wine that just keeps on improving with age! Correctly proportioned feminine head with dark eyes and melting expression. Lovely length of arched neck to excellent layback of shoulder, good depth of body, straight firm topline and nicely shaped well muscled hind quarters. Straight forelegs with good bone. She excelled in movement, parallel fore and aft, powered round the ring with ease showing tremendous reach and drive. So pleased to watch her take Hound Group 2  

2nd Phillpot’s CHARTERWOOD GOLDEN GEM – 2 yr old tan and white girl with lovely clean head, soft appealing expression and dark pigmentation. Good neck length, straight level topline, short loin with good tail set on and carriage. Balanced moderate angulation. Moved out well both fore and aft and in profile.

Special Beginner Bitch (1)

1st & BSB Eldabe’s DAVRICARD BELLADONNA FOR ROSAMAX – 3 yr old tri girl with feminine head of good proportions, dark eye and correct ear set. Longer cast with level topline, good tail set and carried well. Firm elbows, straight forelegs with good bone, short pasterns and tight feet. Good rear angulation. Well handled.
