Field Spaniels

One of my observation on the breed presented today were the heads, I found only a few that gave that typical noble look with the desired chiselling, so many lacked untypical of the breed. To lose this head shape would simply make them just another spaniel and not a field. Please be aware this is my opinion, it is breed that I love and have followed for many more years than I care to mention today.

Class 2373 MPD (1 Entries) Abs: 0

1st: 9341 GALLEN Mrs C M Woodsong Pleiades (Imp) Fra, very pleasing puppy dog, displaying all the classic signs of a field spaniel. Good head shape and balance, showing moderate stop, and as required slightly longer in muzzle than skull. Looking forward to watching him develop in the future.

Class 2375 JD (1 Entries) Abs: 0

1st: 9365 WEBBER Mr M & Mrs L Fecimus Star Trooper At Trevoris, the movement on this young dog was in my opinion really good and true, using that typical long stride unhurried gait. Presented in good coat and condition.

Class 2376 PGD (2 Entries) Abs: 0

1st: 9349 JONES Mrs H C Elgert Starman At Redbornstoke, Splendid coat on this black dog, he has the best of shoulders so well angulated, good upper arm which is sadly lacking a few.

2nd: 9366 WEBBER Mr M & Mrs L Fecimus The Kings Troop At Trevoris repeat.

Class 2377 LD (4 Entries) Abs: 0

I am impressed with this class both 1 and 2nd could have changed place at any time. Winner excelled in movement on the day, I loved his shape and outline, so well balanced in all aspects. Both heads give that classic noble look and shape, with muzzle slightly longer than skull. Body shape also so similar. Today I felt the winner just had the edge on profile movement but really like them both.

1st: 9347 HOLGATE, Mrs J & Mr C & BAUMANN Mr U F Prince Arthur Vom Belauer See At Nadavin (Imp) delighted to award him the RCC on the day.

2nd: 9342 GALLEN Mrs C M Woodsong Lexington (Imp) Fra

1st: 9333 BENNETT Mr D A & Mrs J Sh Ch Jesham Baronet – He shouts out Filed spaniel to anybody who looks at him. He is so well balanced in body length to height ratio. His head I fell for and found the quality I was looking for which pleased me. In great coat and condition, so sound on the move. Pleased to award him the DCC and BOB.

2nd: 9352 MENZIES, Miss A & HENDERSON Mr M A Sh Ch Nadavin Ualan At Vrackie how unfortunate to meet the winner today on such good form. This dog had left his coat at home but a lot to like about him. True head and body, moved well especially in profile.

3rd: 9339 DAVIES Mr J & Mrs P Elgert Let's Dance At Benbreac

Class 2379 VD (1 Entries) Abs: 0

1st: 9355 MURRAY Mr K J & Mrs G L Sh Ch Nadavin Quinlan certainly didn’t look 10 years of age today, moved so well and true I recently had the opportunity to judge him in the gundog group at LKA and felt today he looked even better. What a wonderful example of the breed, and no wonder he is when I took a look at his breeding later in the day.

Class 2380 MPB (2 Entries) Abs: 0

1st: 9348 JAMES Miss T L Woodsong Pitch Perfect, novice handler and novice exhibit first championship show for both I understand. I just loved her she is so full of promise, presented in wonderful coat and condition, from her head to her tail in my opinion she is full of quality. It was a pleasure to award her BPIB over her litter brother. Best of luck for the future for both handler, owner and puppy.

2nd: 9336 BOWLEY Ms E M Icemint Sandscape Queen Of Valdine just a baby of 6 months, presented in wonderful coat condition she looks so full of promise.

Class 2381 PB (3 Entries) Abs: 0

1st: 9348 JAMES Miss T L Woodsong Pitch Perfect

2nd: 9334 BIRD Mrs & Miss S & E V Bridus Aberlour, lacks a little confidence on the day but she is so very pretty and full of promise. Body shape and size is splendid and with more confidence should do very well in the future.

3rd: 9350 LEWIS, Mrs S & Mr G & ADAMS Mr D Irisbel Cherish You

Class 2382 JB (2 Entries) Abs: 0

1st: 9337 CHANNON Mrs D Thandiwe Serendipity, a lot to like about this bitch in profile, displaying balance and breed type. In good coat and condition and moved well in profile.

2nd: 9350 LEWIS, Mrs S & Mr G & ADAMS Mr D Irisbel Cherish You, Good head and neck and shoulders, good quarters moved ok.

Class 2383 PGB (2 Entries) My notes say the same thing about them both, lacks coat and finish. However both had good quality heads and shape. In good body proportions and moved well. Today the winner had the edge in good front movement. Later I found out that they are litter mates possible the reason why my notes say the same thing.

1st: 9343 HARDING Mr M J & Mrs A E Kingsmist Miss Marple JW

2nd: 9361 REECE, Mr R & REECE , Mrs E & REECE Miss S Kingsmist Phryne Fischer At Broomeece Jw

Class 2384 LB (6 Entries) Abs: 1

1st: 9359 OSBORN Ms G Elgert Gold Dust JW This breeder is so consistent with the quality of field spaniels, she displays all the attribute that is required from a field spaniel. So full of breed type which must not be lost as I have said before without the heads they just become a generic spaniel. Loved her head and quality moved well.

2nd: 9353 MOORE Miss C Elgert Sweet Little Lies At Gadhelic Again well balanced in head and body, moved well, preferred the front action on the winner today. She just lacks her furnishing but a top quality bitch in all departments what you see is what you get nothing to hide.

3rd: 9363 SHIPTON Mrs S Winterbourne True Love For Mishules (Swed Imp)

Class 2385 OB (6 Entries) Abs: 1

1st: 9345 HOLGATE Mrs J & Mr C Sh Ch Nadavin Wenhaver JW As I have mentioned before I was looking for an exhibit that displayed the attributes of a field spaniel and this one did just that. She looked much better when free standing than stacked especially in her quarters. Moved well when she got her head in gear!! Delighted to award her BCC

2nd: 9358 OSBORN Ms G Elgert Lady Sta'dust JW How exiting for this owner to have such lovely exhibits in her kennel, just off a litter which I wasn’t aware until told afterwards and my notes reflected the lack of finishing touches. However I loved her shape and body and outline. Delighted to award her RCC.

3rd: 9351 MCVITTY Ms M Sh Ch Sonnetend Faith

Class 2386 VB (3 Entries) Abs: 0 A top quality veteran class, showing how much and how long these dogs can and do go on, for me the older they get the better. All 3 displayed that quality I was looking for shouting out we are a field spaniel not just a generic spaniel. Congratulations to the exhibitors for presenting these in top class form.
