Crufts

I would like to thank the Crufts Committee for the invitation to judge, I really enjoyed my judging and I was pleased with my international entry. I also had two great stewards and all the classes run smoothly. Sadly I had a few absentees due to the current circumstances. Thank you all the exhibitors who had entered their undocked Bracchi under me. The majority of dogs were clean and well presented, just a few that could do with more training for the ring and that surprised me as Crufts is not a local show to practice. 

Some common faults like broad skulls and high carried tails are still present since my last judging appointment, some dogs on the move lose the peculiar topline and as a result the croup is higher than the withers. I found correct bites and generally all the exhibits were very parallel on the legs coming and going although in the lateral movement they could extend a little more. The overall quality in bitches was higher than in dogs. 

VETERAN D, Entries: 2, Absentees 0. A nice class to start with, two brown roan dogs well marked and with in the correct shade of brown. Both showing their ages but still moving well. In Bracchi the head becomes more chiseled with the age and this gives to them a more dramatic and typical expression. 

1st MR M, MRS D & MISS L D CARR’S - LAUMIDORN DMITRI MENDELEEV,

Very nice “old brown uncle”, head with correct planes. Large spongy nose, good dark eye of correct shape. Excellent shoulder and topline, well shaped croup and rear. Tail well set. Bones proportioned to the size, nice arched feet. Moves well for the age. 

2nd MRS E NASH’ - TYRBECHGYN LIGHTENING, another nice old chap with a lovely expression. A well shaped head, good front and well shaped ribcage. A little longer in body than 1st. Correct topline and croup. Not as strong in the rear as 1st and not as positive in the movement.

1st MRS N & MR H HARTLEY’S - JAKOBSTOWN WRAY OF SUNSHINE, 

8 months old, excellent shade of brown, lovely puppy expression, well shaped head. Correct angulations front and rear. Good bones for the age. In the movement he is well coordinated but tends to load the front because still in a growing stage.

1st MR D FROLOV’S - DANTE COMPATRIOTA DI BONFINI, a 15 months old strong orange boy, correct head planes and proportions, excellent front angulations, correct topline and croup. Tail set a little high but well carried in the movement. Well developed chest for the age. I would like more length of legs and more raised withers in the movement. 

2nd MRS N & MR H HARTLEY’S - JAKOBSTOWN WRAY OF SUNSHINE 

3rd MR T MOORE’S - KENAITEEN ORANGE ZEST, 17 months old, a good and strong young male with correct head planes, well developed ribcage for the age. Enough bones for the size. Needs ring trainng. Tail carried a little high.

1st MRS A GATFIELD’S - HEINAARON TOFANA DI ROZES (IMP FIN), an excellent and well marked brown roan, balanced and strong, well shaped head with correct planes and proportions. Correct topline and underline, well developed chest. Good bones for the size, moves well with well carried tail, true coming and going.

2nd MRS M KESTIN’S - TYRBECHGYN LEGOLAS, a boy with good proportions of body and legs. Nice head and expression, correct head lines, well set and shaped ears, well developed ribcage, nice feet. In the movement loses a little the shape of the topline. 

3rd MISS D BEECHAM’S - KEKS CANERO BASS (IMP), another well shaped Bracco with correct proportions. Nice head but a little broad in skull, good front and topline. Strong rear, moves well.

1st MISS G S P PALOMBA’S - PURDEX'S KHAL DROGO, very nice mature male with an excellent head and expression. Correct head planes, excellent front and ribcage, correct topline standing and moving. Strong bones and good feet. Very nicely handled, the best mover in the class. RCC

2nd MISS D BEECHAM’S - GRAFSKOE GNEZDO ARLO (IMP), excellent type and proportions, correct head planes, well set and well shaped ears, good chest, well angulated rear, in the movement, compared to 1st, he loses a little shape of the topline. 

3rd MR P & MRS B PRIMAVERA & AHRENS PRIMAVERA’S - SOBERS BONIFATIUS, probably the best head of the day placed on a perfect neck and shoulder; well shaped front, correct topline, excellent croup. Strong bones and well arched feet. A little straight in pasterns. Unfortunately not showing his best today and down in placement because of wild movement.

1st MRS L BOWLEY’S - LEXUS Z POGONSIEGO WZGORZA BY GUNSYN, super head on a well mature strong dog. Excellent expression, correct head planes, excellent neck and shoulder, ideal topline that is kept in the movement. Nice long croup with well set tail well carried on the movement. CC-BOB

2nd MRS A & MISS N BELL & MADDOX’ - SH CH OWLSPOINT MASTER OF TROUBLE SHCM SHCEX, another excellent mature boy with a lovely expression, well chiseled head, excellent front, well developed ribcage and correct underline. Strong rear, moves well. 

3rd MISS S & MR M BURNSIDE’S - CH OWLSPOINT MAKIN TROUBLE, nice head and expression, well developed ribcage, correct topline, would like longer upper arm and elbows more under the body. Showed a little improvement on the move.

1st MR I SLADDEN’S - TYRBECHGYN BELIEVE YOU WILL AT CANEMAMANS JW, a dog with a very nice expression and well shaped head. Correct topline and croup. Well angulated in front and rear. I would like more bone, more developed chest and a better underline. However moved well and covered the ground efficiently.

1st MR M, MRS D & MISS L D CARR’S - IR SH CH LAUMIDORN RACHEL CARSON SHCM, lively old lady with a well chiseled head of correct proportions and lines. Excellent shoulder and sternum, compact body, correct topline, excellent underline. Moves with plenty of drive, but she drops a bit on the ground when she extends. R.CC

1st MRS J & MR R WHITTAKER’S - TYRBECHGYN HOT TREACLE, 10 months old brown girl, very well shaped and proportioned. Lovely head with correct planes. Well angulated in front and rear. Excellent shade of brown. Moves with a good coordination for the age. BP

2nd MRS H DUBOIS’ - WITHAMFRIARY AFFASCINANTE, 9 months and not as mature as 1st. Lovely head and expression, well set ears. Compact body, excellent croup. I would like better front angulation and not as free in movement as 1st. 

JUNIOR B Entries: 4, Absentees: 1

1st MRS R JENKINS’ - QUAJALOSH FIA , 18 months typical Bracco girl, strong for her age, excellent head and expression, well angulated front and rear, correct topline and excellent under line and skirt, well boned. A little too long in body. Moves very well. 

2nd MRS G PILLINGER’S - WITHAMFRIARY POLLY POCKET, 13 months, very nice brown roan girl, not as mature as 1st, well shaped head and feminine expression. Ribcage still needs to develop. Good bones and nice feet. A little straight in the topline, but on moving her body and topline shape improve. 

3rd MR R P MILLS’ - WITHAMFRIARY GENOA, 18 months, another girl with a sweet and well shaped head. Compact body and correct angulations front and rear. Nice feet and bones proportioned to the size. A little open at the elbows. Ribcage and chest still needs to mature. 

POST GRAD B Entries: 7, Absentees: 1

1st MRS G PILLINGER’S - WITHAMFRIARY BASILLIDES, lovely head and expression, well rounded neck, well shaped eyes and well set ears, excellent front, correct topline and underline, I would like more arched feet. On the stacked she a little too stretched, her body shape improves naturally in the move. 

2nd MR T & MRS A LAKE & STRUTHERS-LAKE’S - ELFRINDEW APRIL HUNTRESS, a nice bitch with correct body proportions, good length of legs, soft expression, well shaped topline, again I would like more arched feet, moves well. 

3rd MR D FROLOV’S - MAANHAAR PRIMO-CREATUS INFANTA PRINCESS OF LOVE, nice bitch with typical and well shaped head. Correct angulations front and rear, excellent bones. Ribcage not as developed as in 1st and 2nd. Moves well on the legs but loses the correct shape of the topline.

1st MRS G PILLINGER’S - WITHAMFRIARY BASILLIDES

2nd MISS F & MR A CONNOLLY & WHITE’S - RUS DE’VIARO VENEZIA OF NGUVU (IMP RUS), nice strong bitch, but a little too heavy in body. Nice head with correct planes and lines. Correct topline and underline. Excellent long croup, strong rear. Moves very well in spite of her weight. 

3rd DR RK RODEN’S - VALCOR PRINCESS PADME, strong boned brown bitch, beautiful head and expression, correct topline, strong hindquarters. I would like more chest and fore chest and on the move she could extend more.

1st MRS L BOWLEY’S - GUNSYN EVERYWHERE, very typey and well chiselled head with correct lines and lean cheeks. Well developed ribcage, correct topline and underline, strong bones, nice arched feet, nice elastic skin, moves well with a good shoulder action and keeps her topline shape with a good head carriage. BCC.

2nd MRS N & MR H HARTLEY’S - TYRBECHGYN TIGER LILLY FOR JAKOBSTOWN, high quality bitch, heavier and stronger in head than 1st, well shaped neck and topline. Very good underline, strong rear, moves well but not as freely as 1st.

1st MRS M CRITCHLEY’S - SAZMALLIN DOLLYWAGON PIKE, nice head and expression, good bones. A little too long in body. When stacked she tends to roach but she improves on the move. 

2nd MR I SLADDEN’S - FEEL OF PRIDE EVA ELETTRA AT CANEMAMANS JW (IMP RUS), typical head and expression, light and long in body. Nice feet. She is correct on the legs in the movement.
