Boston & District Canine Society

Breed: Bracco Italiano

I should like to extend my sincere thanks to the Officers and Committee of Boston & District Canine Society for inviting me to judge at this show.  It was a very enjoyable day and I very much appreciated the opportunity of this appointment to assess some lovely dogs.

I would particularly like to thank the exhibitors of the Bracco Italiano’s for the lovely entry and for trusting me with their dogs – thank you.

Bracco Italiano:

Puppy Dog (3, 1abs):

1ST Mrs A & Miss N Bell & Maddox, Tolriver Enzo At Owlspoint: An extremely well balanced dog of nearly 1o months of age, of very good overall type. Very good head with lean and clean cheeks, chiselled beneath the eyes, correct, clean and complete dentition, strong neck of moderate length into very good forehand assembly, good depth and width to chest reaching to elbows, loin wide and well-muscled, strong hindquarters with good bend of stifle, strong feet with nails of optimum length, moved true and accurately in all profiles. Best Puppy and I was very pleased to later learn that he had been awarded Puppy Group 2.

2ND Mrs J & Mr R Whittaker, Tyrbechgyn My Milano: A young dog of just 7½ months of extremely good type. Correct length of body, very good head with clearly visible median line, correctly set on ears, correct, clean and complete dentition, strong underjaw, neck strong and clean, a little down on his pasterns due to age and development, well placed shoulders and corresponding return of upper arm, chest of good depth and width with well sprung ribs, well made hindquarters, stifles well bent, nails of optimum length, moved well when settled but everything needs to tighten slightly due to age.

Junior Dog (5):

1ST Mr I Sladden, Ebano Dell ‘Oltresavio At Canemamans (IMP IT): An extremely impressive young dog of 15 months of age who presented a very typy, well balanced and clean outline when standing. Excels in head showing good head planes, clearly visible median line, slight stop, deep muzzle with strong underjaw. Dentition correct, clean and complete., Neck strong and of moderate length. Quality bone all through. Slightly down on his pasterns. Chest of good depth and width with elbows correctly placed. Good forehand assembly, strong, short loin, well made hindquarters, stifles well bent, nails of optimum length. Moved very well, accurate both fore, aft and in side profile with head clearly carried above the topline. Reserve Best Dog.

2ND Mrs A & Miss N Bell & Maddox, Tolriver Enzo At Owlspoint

3RD Miss E J L Longman, Braccorions Quick Look

Post Graduate Dog (4, 2abs):

1ST Mr M R & Mrs C R Sanderson, Owlspoint Trouble Again: A perfectly balanced and masculine example of the breed, presented in fit and hard condition. He has very good quality bone all through, almost square, extremely well muscled. Displayed correct breed topline that sloped slightly down from withers to middle of back and without dipping. Correct head with visible median line and good head planes with clean cheeks and foreface of good width with slight stop, large nose, correct, clean and complete dentition, powerful well rounded neck of moderate length, well placed shoulders and corresponding return of upper arm, deep chest reaching to elbows and with good width, strong hindquarters with well developed second thigh, stifles well bent, nails of optimum length, moved without fault in all profiles showing very good length of stride. Best Dog and Best Of Breed

2ND Mrs J & Mr R Whittaker, Tyrbechgyn Just Jacob: A dog of pleasing overall type, of optimum length and slightly ‘bum high’. Very good head with lean cheeks, dentition correct, clean and complete, strong neck into good forehand assembly, good width and depth to chest, elbows not reaching to chest, loin of optimum length, strong hindquarters, well bent stifles, nails of optimum length, moved soundly.

Open Dog (5, 1abs):

1ST Ms C A & M S A Dodds & Pearson, IR/VDH CH Braccorians Juno What At Kelevra: A 3½ year old dog, well balanced and almost square in outline. Excellent head with divergent planes and visible median line, pronounced occiput and slight stop. Cheeks both clean and lean, dentition correct, clean and complete, strong neck of moderate length into good forehand assembly, chest of very good depth and width, elbows not quite at level of chest, strong shot loin into well muscled hindquarters, nails of optimum length, moved very well and soundly.

2ND Mr M R & Mrs C R Sanderson, Owlspoint Trouble At Mill, SHCM, SHCEX, BWNL’18: Well made dog and at first glance when entering the ring, he took my eye as a dog that would be in serious contention for higher honours than he eventually achieved. Quality bone all through, in extremely hard muscular condition, I would prefer more divergence in head planes and leanness in the cheeks, moderate stop, ears correctly set, dentition correct, clean and complete, strong neck into well placed shoulders, very width and depth to chest, elbows on chest, strong, short but wide loin, well developed hindquarters, strong slightly oval feet with nails of optimum length. Moved soundly and accurately whenever asked.

3RD Mr M Nencini, IT CH Polcevera’s Annibale [ATC AW01176ITA]

Puppy Bitch (2):

1ST Mrs J & Mr R Whittaker, Tyrbechgyn Hot Treacle: I really liked this young bitch of just 7½ months of age, who impressed me with her overall balance and breed type. Very good feminine head, clear median line, lean cheeks and chiselled beneath the eyes, moderate stop, ears correctly set, dentition correct, clean and complete, strong, clean neck into very well placed shoulders and return of upper arm, quality bone all through, chest of good width and depth, well made hindquarters, nails of optimum length, moved well.

2ND Miss B R Cawley, Bushwacker Allegra At Marlablue: Good honest type of bitch, of 7 months of age and still very raw, finer than the eventual class winner, pleasing head with lean cheeks and large nose, dentition correct, clean and complete, neck of moderate length, good forehand assembly, well ribbed back, strong hindquarters, nails of optimum length, moved soundly and accurately once settled.

Junior Bitch (2):

1ST Mrs J & Mr R Whittaker, Tyrbechgyn Hot Treacle

2ND Ms D, Ms J & A Hamlyn & Frost, Elettra Dell ‘Oltresavio Of Amestorah )IMP IT): Well balanced in outline, good bone and feet with nails of optimum length, Feminine head with clean and lean cheeks, moderate stop, large nose, dentition correct, clean and complete, clean neck into correct forehand angulation, deep chest, short loin, good hindquarters, moved soundly.

Post Graduate Bitch (3, 1abs):

1ST Mr M F & Mrs K Harrison, Owlspoint Angel Of Trouble: Pleasing overall type of bitch, clean and well-balanced outline when standing. Very good bone all through. Good head planes, pronounced occiput, dentition correct, clean and complete, strong neck into correct forehand angulation, elbows meeting chest which was deep and of good width, her loin appeared too long but in fact this was because she was presented in ultra hard condition almost lacking in body condition but strong and wide, muscular hindquarters, well bent stifles, nails of optimum length, moved soundly and accurately fore, aft and in side profile. Once bodied-up, I would expect this bitch to have a bright future – the best mover of the day.

2ND Mrs M Critchley, Braccorions Never Say Never JW: Presented a very good outline, feminine head with visible median line, clean, lean cheeks, moderate stop, dentition correct, clean and complete, strong neck into good forehand assembly, chest of good width and depth reaching to level of elbows, short loin, muscular hindquarters, nails of optimum length, pasterns of good length but unlike breed standard which calls for slightly sloping, these were more exaggerated than I would prefer. Moved soundly.

Open Bitch (4):

1ST Mrs A & Miss N Bell & Maddox, Owlspoint Queen Of Trouble: Strong, upstanding bitch, excels in quality bone all through, very good head with clearly defined planes and median line, moderate stop, well placed ears, large nose, dentition correct, clean and complete, strong neck into well placed shoulders and return of upper arm, chest of good width and depth with elbows on level of chest, strong back, well ribbed back into muscular loin and well developed hindquarters with well bent stifles. Nails of optimum length, moved soundly and accurately whenever asked at an extended trot. Best Bitch.

2ND Ms C A & Mr S A Dodds & Pearson, Braccorions Nesta Vipas: Well balanced but perhaps a little longer and finer than my ideal but she does have many virtues. Good head with divergent head planes and lean cheeks, visible median line, good neck into forehand assembly that was slightly short in upper arm, good width to chest, strong hindquarters, moved well.

3RD Ms J K & Ms A R Frost, SH CH Dora Of Bushwacker (IMP ITA)
