Crufts

Breed: Parson Russell Terrier

Many thanks to Crufts Committee for granting me the opportunity to judge at this great event. For me, a dream come true to examine the best examples of this original British breed, and I thank the sporting exhibitors who brought their excellent dogs along for me to assess. Every dog shown was in the peak of condition for their age, fit and healthy and a credit to their owners/handlers. I was a little concerned that some were exaggerated in presentation and some not capable of being spanned, I hope this is not a trend, as the PRT is essentially a working breed, of workmanlike appearance, and entering the show world should not change that. I also found it challenging to assess movement where some dogs were so focussed on the handler’s baiting that they moved sideways instead of forwards. This aside, I congratulate everyone for the quality of the exhibits, and I was delighted to see my BOB short-listed in the Terrier Group.
