Basset Griffon Vendéen ( Petit)
First and foremost a big thank you to my very efficient stewards who kept my ring flowing beautifully all day.
Secondly a comment about grooming, there is a huge difference between a clean and tidy Petit and a sculpted, “trimmed like a poodle” dog with a coat full of product! That is not the way petits are meant to be produced, they are a tough, workman like breed, and those that were “over produced” paid the penalty.
Vet. Dog (5,1abs)
1) Brown’s CH Soletrader Louis Vuitton, have given this boy a CC before, he’s now 10 years old and carrying his years well! A little out of coat but what he had is excellent, beautiful masculine head, good front and rear assembly with level topline and good tailset which he held on the move. Powered round the ring to take best veteran over the bitch. BV
2) Romeis INT/BE/CN/LU/VDH CH Arthur Vom Huzenlaub WW’19 Sable/white with a lovely head and excellent coat, not too long in body but a bit short in upper arm, so didn’t have the reach and drive of the winner, but never the less, a good sound petite.
3) O’Brien’s Caldewriver Despicable Me, tri with an excellent coat, good front assembly and rear angulation, good pigment and bite, but his head is a bit “bitchy” and is too long in body for me.
Puppy dog (2)
1)Hutchings Tangaer French Romance, sable /white, almost a year old puppy with the loveliest of heads, excellent front and rear assembly, not too long in body with good ribbing, nice short tail, moved enthusiastically. Loved him! BPD and ultimately BP in Breed.
2)Brown’s Erylan Chaud Comme Hades, immature pup who needs to tighten all through. Nice head with dark eye, decent coat. Front is not his fortune as short in upper arm therefore movement could be better.
Junior Dog (2)
1) Mccartney’s Soletrader Freddie Mercury, a new one on me but what a stunner! Beautifully presented and not overdone in any way, wonderful coat and furnishings, beautiful head with dark eyes, excellent length of body and ribbing plenty of bone and lovely tight feet. Carries his tail correctly and holds his topline on the move, and he can move! CC. Out moved the bitch to take B.O.B.
2) Feasby’s Caldewriver Wizard of Oz at Torcarhian, leggy young dog who needs to body up and grow coat, weak head and too long for me, ribs cutting up too, steeply, movement erratic.
Post Grad dog (3)
1) Bartley’s Erylan Zeus Roi Des Dieux, top end of the height scale tri, lovely masculine head, excellent coat and pigment, ribbing ok but a bit to forward in front assembly. Workman like and looks as though he could the job he’s bred for.
2) Moore,s Afterglow Dough Ble Impact, smaller sable/white, good masculine head, excellent coat, short in upper arm and loosing topline on the move, movement is not brilliant.
3) Moulding’s Nykarth O’Be Serious, another smaller dog with an excellent dark eye and coat, ribs going well back, enough hind angulation but lacks forechest which makes him stand at “ten to two” and could do with a bit more bone.
Limit Dog (5)
1)Lewis’Tangaer Erique, lovely type, not too long, excellent front and rear assembly, handsome head and wonderful pigment, lovely harsh coat, held his topline on the move and carried his stern correctly, because he is so well made his movement is pretty accurate.
2)Skerritt and Betts Beaujons Vagabond Of Monkhams, another nice type, not over done in any way, good hard coat, masculine head, not too long in body, good tight feet, moved soundly. Tail a little long
3)Bartley’s Erylan Loki Maitre Du Mal, larger dog, nicely presented tri with a good coat, masculine head, pigment good, short in upper arm and a bit “heavy” all through for me.
Open dog (10)
1)Cadmore’s Soletrader Only in Oslo, really liked this dog, no exaggerations anywhere, beautifully presented and muscled up, handsome head, beautifully put together, harsh coat, short tail, well put together front and rear. Was giving his handler a hard time by fidgeting and in the challenge was marginally outmoved by the slightly younger dog. RCC.
2)Brown’s Soletrader Valentino Rossi, another nice type with a lovely head, not too long in body, good ribbing, excellent front and rear angulation which allows him to move neatly and precisely. Just lacks a bit of “star quality” for me.
3) Antipova’s Switherland Aldia Crusader, good for size and type, good head and leathers, short back, ribs carried well back, front assembly is not the best and he is slightly over angulated behind, movement was ok.
GC (1)
1) Puckett’s Soletrader Bob’s Your Uncle, dog from the larger mould, very masculine with an excellent coat nicely presented, he is, however, heavy over the shoulders and a bit long in body, needs more hind angulation to improve his movement which was a bit erratic.
Veteran bitch (5)
1) Wyllie’s Ch.Tangaer Rhapsody at Callydena VW SHCM, well made lemon/white bitch carrying her almost twelve years well, super coat and pigment, pretty head, moved well, just not quite the showmanship of the slightly younger dog. BVB.
2) Skerritt and Betts Ch. Beaujons Ugly Betty of Monkhams, pretty sable/white who seemed to be a little out of coat, but what she had was harsh, little long in body for me, but she moved out well and enthusiastically.
3) Foote and Mcauley’s Clonallen Guinevere at Erylan, up to size bitch who moved reasonably well, not the best of fronts and a little over angulated behind, coat full of product.
Puppy bitch (3)
1) Lewis’ Tangaer French Wine, another lovely puppy from this kennel, litter sister to dog puppy, I see. Orange/white with a fabulous coat, pretty head with correct earset, good pigment, well put together front and rear, moved well but was just outmoved by her brother in puppy challenge. BPB.
2) Reids Petronille des Terres du Templier at Maudaxi, smaller neat little bitch who needs time. Coat is good and she held her topline on the move, but everything needs to tighten all through.
3) Foote and Mcaulay’s Erylan Deessie des Fleurs, sable/ white bitch out of a larger mould, head is a bit masculine for a puppy bitch, not too long in body but needs to drop into herself and tighten, movement erratic. Over presented, especially for a puppy.
Junior (1)
1)Bishops Jamar Ina the Countessa, pretty bitch with a wonderful harsh coat. Topline sags when standing, needs more muscle tone which comes with exercise, to tighten everything up.
Post Grad (10,1)
1)Scott’s Soletrader Langham Rose for Overbecks, typey bitch, beautifully presented, lovely head and expression, front and rear angles matching, held topline on the move and moved neatly and precisely without exaggeration.
2)Reids Maudaxi Candy’s Caning It, nice little bitch who, in my opinion needs a little more bone and substance, very feminine, decent front and hind angulation which allowed her to move nicely and positively.
3)Skerritt and Betts Monkhams Memphis Belle, another typey bitch with a pretty head and expression, good coat, held topline on the move, but she’s a bit heavy over the shoulders which didn’t help her front movement.
Limit Bitch (11,2)
1) Cadmore’s Soletrader Dancing in Deli, beautifully constructed bitch who is excellent for size and type. Wonderful hard coat, good ribbing and muscletone, good front and rear angulation which really allowed her to power round the ring driving from behind. She lost out for B.O.B to the dog as she seemed to loose a bit of enthusiasm in the challenge. CC.
2) Cooper and Ellingford’s Afterglow Agnes Gru Avec Jayanel, another nicely made petit, no exaggeration, well presented, feminine head and expression, excellent coat and condition, good angles front and rear, moving well. Her body is just a bit on the long side for me.
3) Wyllie’s Tangaer Calvera at Callydena, useful, workman like bitch with a hard jacket, decent ribbing going well back, Little short in upper arm and could use more hind angulation. Moved ok.
Open Bitch(8,2)
1)Antipova’s Switherland Aldia Crystal, smart little bitch, nicely put together, good front and hind angulation, good ribbing and forechest, excellent coat, held topline beautifully on the move, which she did with a bit of panache, topped off with a lovely short tail. RCC.
2)Scott’s Overbecks Kathy Tiere, another well made bitch having no exaggeration anywhere. Slightly longer cast than 1, but again, she has a decent front and hind angulation matches well. Moved neatly round the ring. Little bit flat in skull.
3)Bergstrom’s Soletrader Just Jazz, I really liked this bitch as she came into the ring, very pretty head and expression, little short in upper arm but kept her topline, good ribbing and wonderful coat, but, for me, was carrying a bit too much weight and it affected her movement.
Good Citizen (3)
1)Bishop’s Jamar Angeliou , workman like little bitch, good coat and expression, put together nicely and worked hard to earn her place.
2) IR Ch Clonallen Just Beginning avec Erylan bigger bitch who was very over presented, coat full of product. Has a nice if slightly doggy head with good pigment, moved ok.
3)Allen’s Haliston Deedee, bitch with a very nice head and kind expression, front is not her fortune, short in upper arm and very heavy over the shoulder preventing her from having much reach in front.
