I had the great privilege and honor to be invited to judge the Basset Hounds at the prestigious Crufts.

For a Basset Hound breeder, I think that this is the invitation that you dream about, and I had the pleasure to see my dream come true.

With an excellent entry of 156 Basset Hounds, and despite the absentees due to the Covid19 crises, I can say that I was extremely happy to see that our breed is in good health with no exaggerations and going on the right direction.

Concerning my winners here are my critiques:

VETERAN DOG

1st – 17357 – CH MALRICH SIR RUFF DIAMOND – A beautiful ten and a half years old dog in excellent conditions for the age, excellent bone and body proportions, fit for function, beautiful head with a nice ear texture, nice neck, correct front with tight feet, powerful ribcage with a nice shape, correct topline and tail seat, nice rear angulation, moves freely with an excellent attitude. Because he’s condition, construction and movement he was the Dog Reserve CC

2nd – 174060 - DIHEATH MINT ROYALE – Beautiful dog, excellent head with a sweet expression, correct front with a nice upper arm, topline dropping a little bit to the withers, correct ribcage, nice tail seat, moves with a nice reach and drive.

PUPPY DOG

1st – 17391 – DE TRES MANZANAS DEXTER – Excellent male puppy with a masculine head, set on low ears correct front, nice topline and tail set, powerful round rear well angulated, nice body proportions, excellent movement with a nice attitude and tail carriage.

2nd – 17404 – CULDAWS HEARTHROB FOR DIHEATH – Very nice dog with a nice head and expression nice ears, correct front, ribcage could have a better shape, excellent topline, nice rear angulation correct tail set, moves with a nice reach and drive.

3rd – 17383 – ZAWADI STAND BY ME – Masculine head, clean eyes, well set hears, correct front, topline dropping to the withers, sufficient rear angulation, moves with a nice temperament, a sweet dog.

JUNIOR DOG

 1st – 17378 – CLANWILLOW CENTENARY HERO – Excellent dog, beautiful head and expression, well set ears with a soft texture, nice front with nice feet, correct topline, excellent ribcage, correct tail set, correct rear angulation, sportive body proportions, very nice bone, moves well with a nice temperament.

2nd – 17421 – WOFERLOW KYLO REN – Beautiful profile, very nice head and expression, set on low ears with a correct texture, clean eyes, correct front with nice feet, ribcage with a correct shape, nice topline and tail set, moves well with a nice extension.

3rd – 17364 – TEOCRACIA SAN DIEGO – Masculine head and expression, stop should be more defined, excellent ears with a velvet texture, very nice reach of neck, upper arm should be longer, level topline, correct tail set, sportive body proportions, excellent bone, moves with an excellent attitude.

YEARLING DOG

1st – 17411 – DIHEATH JAMAICA – Beautiful male with excellent body proportions, attractive masculine head with clean eyes, very nice chest with a correct upper arm, strong topline and tail set, nice bone, correct rear angulation, move freely with a very nice temperament.

2nd – 17330 – BUFFOBASS VAN CLEEF – Excellent male with a beautiful masculine head, beautiful reach of neck, nice front with a correct upper arm, nice topline with a correct tail set, rear should have a bit more substance, moves well but could be more energic.

3rd – 17418 – RAKEFOOTS DRAGON SLAYER – Nice male with a nice head and masculine expression, set on low ears, correct front with nice feet, topline dropping a bit to the withers, tail set could be higher, sufficient rear angulation, moves well with a very nice attitude.

POST GRADUATE DOG

1st – 17460 – TIMPETOES WOMBAT – Young dog with a very nice head and expression, set on low ears with a correct texture, correct front with nice feet, correct body proportions, fit for function, excellent topline and ribcage, powerful rear with a nice angulation, moves very well with a nice reach and drive.

2nd – 17470 – ARMARDIO FIRESTARTER – Excellent head with nice ears, clean eyes, nice reach of neck, correct front with nice feet, level topline, nice tail set, nice rear, moves with a nice temperament.

3rd – 17440 – SEDONIA’S AMBASSADOR OF AKURA – Masculine with nice head proportions, ears could have a softer texture, correct front, topline dropping a bit to the withers, sufficient rear angulation, moves with a nice attitude.

LIMIT DOG

1st – 17377 – QUBO AVALEUR DU SABRE MET CLANWILLOW - Beautiful young dog with wonderful head proportions, excellent ears with a very nice texture, nice front with a nice upper arm, correct ribcage, level topline and excellent tail set, strong rear well angulated, moves freely with a very nice reach and drive.

2nd – 17449 – BUCKACOE TOM COLLINS - Correct head and expression, clean eyes that could be darker, well set ears, nice reach of neck, correct front with nice feet, topline dropping a bit to the withers,, correct rear moves with a nice attitude and extension.

3rd – 17458 – LONGMYND ZODIAC - Strong male with a masculine head, well set ears with a nice texture, neck could have a bit more reach, correct body with nice propositions, tail set a bit low, nice rear, moves correctly with a nice attitude.

OPEN DOG

1st – 17468 – CH BROMP BRIAN SMART – An outstanding male to whom I award the Dog CC. Excellent body proportions, fit for function, excellent head with clean eyes, beautiful reach of neck, excellent pigmentation, beautiful front with a prominent prosternum and upper arm, beautiful ribcage and topline, correct tail set, nice rear angulation, moves with an excellent reach and drive and a nice temperament.

2nd – 17443 – NL CH URE MY MODEL V GRUNSVEN – Six years old male in an excellent condition for the age. Beautiful head and masculine expression, well set ears with an excellent texture, beautiful neck nice front with a nice upper arm, long ribcage excellent tail set, nice rear angulation, nice bone, moves with a nice extension and temperament.

3rd – 17426 – CH HR I CH JIMINY DU CLOS DE RIVENSOL – Masculine, excellent head and expression, clean eyes with a dark color, correct front, ribcage with a nice shape, correct tail set, powerful rear with a nice tail set, moves parallel with a nice extension and temperament.

VETERAN BITCH

1st – 17422 – CH WOFERLOW TINKER BELL – Ten years old bitch in excellent conditions for the age, beautiful feminine head, clean eyes, set on low ears with an excellent texture, beautiful neck, correct front with nice tight feet, long ribcage with a nice shape, beautiful level topline, correct tail, moves with a nice attitude and a correct reach and drive.

MINOR PUPPY BITCH

1st – 17394 – VEZUVII OPRA TRES MANZANAS – Lovely head and expression, clean eyes, well set ears with a good texture, still in development, upper could be a bit longer, nice rib cage, topline drooping a bit to the withers, well set tail and carriage, nice rear, moves with a beautiful attitude.

2nd – 17362 – BRIDGET LADY BARNETTS – Excellent feminine head with nice planes, correct reach of neck, upper arm could be a bit longer, correct rib cage, topline dropping to the withers, nice tail set, moves well with a nice temperament.

3rd – 17400 – KLEANSURE MISCHIEF MAKER – Feminine, a bit roman nose, nice pigment, correct reach of neck, front feet turning a bit out, correct ribcage, topline dropping to the withers, correct tail set and rear angulation moves well.

PUPPY BITCH

1st – 17343 – KIARA MEGARA V GRUNSVEN – Beautiful puppy bitch with a sweet expression and an outstanding temperament, excellent eyes well pigmented, set on low ears with a velvety texture, correct front, excellent ribcage and topline, well set tail, powerful rear well-muscled, very healthy skin. A supper puppy that I had the pleasure to award the Bitch Reserve CC

2st – 17435 – SWITHERLAND ALBAZAR – Feminine puppy with very nice body proportions, correct head, nice front with nice feet, excellent ribcage, nice topline and tail set, correct rear with a nice muscle, moves well with a nice reach and drive.

3st – 17339 – BLEVWIL XUBERANT – Correct head, eyes could be darker, nice head planes, ears could have a softer texture, nice reach of neck, correct front with nice feet, ribcage with a nice shape, correct topline and tail set, moves well with a nice temperament.

1st – 17379 – CLANWILLOW CENTENARY DREAM – Very nice bitch, fit for function, very nice head and expression, ears with an excellent velvety texture, correct neck, powerful ribcage, level topline and correct tail set, correct rear, nice bone, moves with an excellent attitude reach and drive.

2st – 17413 – CINTAL MABLE DENE – Excellent bitch, typical, feminine expression, correct ears, nice clean and dark eyes, a bit heavy, correct front with nice feet, nice topline and ribcage, correct rear angulation, moves well.

3st – 17416 – RAKEFOOT CRESSELIA – Beautiful young bitch, very active, sweet head and expression, correct ears, nice front with nice feet, level topline and correct tail set, excellent rear angulation, changing the coat at the moment, moves with a nice reach and drive.

YEARLING BITCH

1st – 17331 – BUFFOBASS VANITY FAIR – Beautiful bitch with a beautiful profile, excellent head with nice clean and dark eyes, excellent ears, beautiful reach of neck, excellent front with an excellent upper arm, correct topline and tail set, excellent rear well angulated and muscled, moves with a nice reach and drive.

2st – 17451 – LAURALEE DONT STOP ME NOW OF DEVONHOUND – Very nice bitch with a correct head, nice ears, correct reach of neck, nice prosternum, correct front angulation, correct ribcage, topline should be stronger, correct tail set, correct rear angulation, in movement she has a correct reach and drive.

2st – 17363 – KIMBLEHOLME KIND OF MAGIC – Correct head with nice proportions, ears could have a softer texture, nice neck, upper arm should be longer, nice feet, correct ribcage, topline dropping a bit to the withers, sufficient rear angulation, moves well.

POST GRADUATE BITCH

1st – 17380 – CLANWILLOWSHINNING BRIGHT – Beautiful bitch beautiful with an excellent head, excellent body proportions with no exaggerations, fit for function nice neck, correct front with nice feet, nice ribcage, correct tail set, nice rear, moves very easily.

2st – 17370 – ALCARO FLEURIE AT ENGUERRAND – Very nice bitch, very feminine, correct head and expression, nice ears with a nice texture, correct neck, a bit heavy, nice front with nice feet, powerful ribcage, topline dropping a bit to the withers, correct tail set, moves with a nice attitude.

3st – 17456 – SILVER FANTASY ARABIAN NIGHT – Nice bitch expression, could be a bit more feminine, nice neck, upper arm could be longer, nice body proportions, level topline, correct tail set, correct rear, moves a bit close.

LIMIT BITCH

1st – 17344 – DEUCECOUPE MARQUESA – Beautiful bitch, excellent feminine head with nice planes, excellent ears with a velvet texture, correct front with a nice prosternum, correct upper arm, excellent ribcage, level topline, correct rear angulation, moves typically with a nice attitude reach and drive.

2st – 17369 – ENGUERRAND MALEFICENT MIMI – Very nice bitch with a nice profile, correct head and expression, well set ears, upper arm should be longer, front feet turning a bit out, excellent topline and ribcage, correct tail set and carriage, nice rear, moves with a nice attitude.

3st – 17412 – KIMBLEHOLME DREAMKEEPER AT RUMBLETON – Correct head and feminine expression, nice head planes, correct front with nice feet, topline dropping to the withers, nice ribcage, correct tail set, nice rear angulation, moves well but could have a bit more attitude in movement.

OPEN BITCH

1st – 17365 – IT CH TEOCRAZIA ONE MILLION EW18 – A dream to watch and to go over. Beautiful head with a soft feminine expression, excellent head planes, set on low ears with a velvety texture, elegant muscular neck well arched, correct front angulation with a nice upper arm, beautiful tight feet, rounded ribcage with a excellent length, level topline with an excellent tail set, beautiful underline with no exaggerations, powerful rear full of muscle, nice short hocks. Moves beautifully with an excellent reach and drive caring beautifully her tail.
