HOME COUNTIES COCKER SPANIEL CLUB CHAMPIONSHIP SHOW

9TH FEBRUARY 2020

BEST IN SHOW & BEST PUPPY IN SHOW.

To referee at a Breed Club Championship show is an honour but a sometimes difficult task as you are judging two dogs that have not selected, but those that have been the choices of two different judges. On this occasion, the dog and the bitch were both really excellent examples, if very different types, and it was my decision to determine both BIS and BPIS.

BEST IN SHOW went to the male, CRAIGDEAN WILLIE NELSON JW who is substantially built and well-balanced, with a super flowing outline. I liked his well-laid shoulders and well-ribbed body with good depth to his brisket. He is correct for bone with a short-frim loin, in-fact he’s very ‘cobby’ and very workmanlike and he could definitely do a day’s work in the field! On the move, he really came alive, using his excellent forehand to simply eat up the ground reaching well-out in front, holding his top-line and driving away with absolute accuracy from very well-muscled and correctly defined quarters. I now understand that today’s breed win gives him his title (subject to KC confirmation) winning his 3 CC’s all with BOB. Congratulations.

BEST PUPPY IN SHOW went to ALISMA ALWENA, at just 6 months she's absolutely brimming full of quality and is, in my book, an excellent future prospect. Ultra-feminine, she has an excellent forehand and really uses this on the move covering the ground with precision and style. Compactly built she is so sound with a superb expression and has that rare ’look at me....look away if you dare!’ quality about her. Today, she captivated me totally.
