MANCHESTER DOG SHOW SOCIETY CHAMPIONSHIP SHOW 19/01/2020

I was honoured & delighted to judge Clumber Spaniels at the Manchester Dog Society Show, my thanks to the Society for giving me this opportunity. A big thank you to my efficient stewards and the Committee for their warm greeting and hospitality. I would like to sincerely thank all the exhibitors who entered under me & allowed me the privilege to go over their Clumbers. I was delighted with the quality of my entry. All dogs had good eyes, no ear irritation was observed and no exhibits were excessively over weight. Presentation was generally excellent although ears could have been cleaner.

PD (1) 1. Taylor's : Maursett Malfoy super 8 month old puppy, shown in excellent coat and condition, masculine head with good expression, clean eye, correct bite, well boned, good reach of neck, deep chest, well sprung ribs carried well back, well-proportioned body of good depth, moved positively straight fore & aft and really well for such a young dog, very well handled. Pleased to see him go Gundog Puppy Group 4, congratulations. BP

JD (1) 1. Boden's : Tweedsmuir Just Cruzin among Suelynda 15 month old handsome boy, lovely broad head with decided occiput, good stop, good eye shape, clean ears, strong jaw. Excellent front, good neck into well placed shoulders, chest deep with well sprung ribs, lacking in body substance today, strong hindquarters, good second thigh, moved nicely.

LD (2,1a) 1. Rugman's : Suelynda Tomahawk over Dimenglo, another young male, good balanced head with no exaggerations, clean dark eyes, good ear set, lovely neck leading to a good front, chest deep with well sprung ribs, good bone, well bent stifles, when moved felt he was lacking in drive today. Good presentation.

OD (3,1a) 1. Taylor's : ShCh Maurestt Mathos JW beautifully presented balanced and strong dog, shown in excellent coat and condition, masculine head with good expression, clean eye, correct bite, very well boned, good reach of neck, deep chest with well sprung ribs, well-proportioned body of good depth, strong hindquarters, in excellent muscle tone, powered around the ring effortlessly with real drive. CC 2. Rudbach's : Micklemess Making Music at Clumberdane, very well-muscled dog throughout with excellent clean eyes, good bite, ears well set, excellent bone, powerful neck leading into well placed shoulders, chest deep, well sprung ribs, muscular hindquarters, second thigh very well-muscled , today his movement was surprisingly lacking the drive I would have expected.

VD (1) 1. Underwood's : ShCh Studeem Rock the Kazbar at Laceygunn JW beautifully presented 9 year old dog in excellent condition, super balanced head with well-defined stop, good eye, correct bite, strong neck of correct length into well angulated shoulders, deep chest with well sprung ribs, good muscular body, moved true fore & aft with good drive holding a level topline. RCC

MPB (3,1a) 1. Underwood's : Maursett Myrcella at Laceygunn 8 month old puppy, lovely feminine head with no exaggerations, clean eyes & ears, correct bite, good forequarters, sufficient bone, well-proportioned in body with an excellent coat, muscular throughout, moved freely true front & aft with effortless drive. Good presentation and good handling. 2. Vickery & Jones's : Maurestt Melisandre, 8 month old exuberant litter sister of 1who was a challenge for her handler and to go over, lovely feminine head, nice clean eyes, correct bite, muscular in body, excellent hindquarters and second thigh, when settled moved straight in front & aft with good drive, good presentation.

  PB (3,1a) 1. Underwood's : Maursett Myrcella at Laceygunn, 1st in MPB. 2. Carnegie's : Windfly West Winds 11 month old puppy, nice feminine head, lovely eye shape and colour, good ear set, moderate reach of neck leading into well-placed shoulders, good bone, good depth of chest, well sprung ribs, muscular in body and hindquarters, stifle moderately bent, looked very tired in her movement today.

  JB (1) 1. Taylor's : Maursett Mercy 15 month old in excellent condition with nice feminine head, with good occiput and deep stop, clean eyes, good ear set, excellent in neck, good shoulder placement, well sprung ribs, muscular throughout, moved with good drive, excellent presentation and handling.

PGD (3,1a) 1. Dawson's : Beskerby Luminescent, lovely 2 year old bitch with good head and expression, clean eye, correct bite, good ear set, well off for bone, very strong neck into well laid shoulders, well-muscled strong body, very powerful hind quarters, fantastic muscle tone, stifles well bent and set straight, good movement but would benefit from moving on a looser lead. Pushed hard for higher placing. 2. Clarke's : Tweedsmuir Makawee for Askuwheteau, nice bitch with a thoughtful expression, good ear set, deep chest & well sprung ribs, good front & rear angulation, good bend of stifle, when settled moved nicely with a level topline.

LB (4,1a) 1.Kirkman's : Wymeswold Butterscott at Kirkara (imp NLD) quality 18 month old balanced bitch in excellent condition who’s presentation was superb, Lovely feminine head with thoughtful expression, clean eyes, correct bite, super ear set, fairly long and strong in neck into well laid sloping shoulders, good bone, well muscled throughout, deep in chest with well sprung ribs, muscular lion, well bent stifles, lovely abundant silky coat, moved with effortless drive both straight fore & aft, excellent handling. CC & BoB 2. Brookshaw's : Anbrook Center Fold, quality bitch in excellent condition with super feminine head, clean eyes, correct bite, nicely proportioned and balanced throughout, strong in neck, good shoulder placement, deep chest with well sprung ribs carried back, unfortunately on the day did not move at her best, very well presented. 3. Boden's : Suelynda Whirylbird

OB (5) 1. Monaghan's : Tweedsmuir Kotton Kandi, lovely very balanced bitch in outline with typical head & expression, clean dark eyes, correct bite, clean ears, muscular neck leading to well-placed shoulders, lovely compact round feet, well off for bone, moved with great drive in the class, however was unsettled and inconsistent in the bitch challenge. RCC 2.Wilson's : ShCh Anbrook Fair Maid of Kent by Winhampton, lovely bitch who looked a little tired today, thoughtful expression, clean eyes, good ear set, powerful neck into well-placed shoulders, chest deep, well sprung ribs which are carried well back, well off for bone, muscular throughout, moved with effortless drive, preferred the overall picture of first. 3. Wilson's : Winhampton Oops A Daisy
