Crufts

Breed: Pharaoh Hound

CRUFTS 2020 8th March - Pharaoh Hounds - Judge - Mrs Jill Morris

What an honour to be asked to judge at Crufts. The pinnacle of my judging, breeder, exhibitors career.

Today was marked with some sadness due to the recent loss of a dear friend in the breed and at times was a little emotional with his male taking the best of breed.

I am happy to say that all the dogs looked in good health and condition. Thank you to all those who entered and exhibited and for making the day very pleasant.

Veteran Dog 1/1 absent

Puppy Dog 1

1st..Thomas' Rubasu King Khyan

Good size puppy with plenty of Character. Ears still need to strengthen at this point but overall a balanced head. Good eye shape and colour. Nice clean neck into moderate front. Correct length of ribbing and loin. Good rear angulation matching front. Moved well when settled. Promising youngster.

Junior Dog 1

1st..Mifsud's Aramif Louis The Third

Liked this dogs head and eye shape, good ear placement. Nicely angulated front assembly. Strong top line. Good body shape and matching rear angulation. A little unsettled in the big ring but showed good movement coming and going and on side profile.

Limit Dog 2/1 abs

1st..Worrall's Litlar's Niju Monarch Bluesmurf (imp Rus)

Lovely head with good eye shape and colour. Correct ear placement. Elegant neck into decent front. Pasterns and feet could be tighter. Moved well fore and aft although on occasions rises over the loin.

Open Dog 7/2 abs

The hardest choice between some super males in this class.

1st..Reeve's Ch. Annatefkah Tum

The best of heads in the breed today. Perfects scissor bite and full dentition. Level head planes with equal length skull to fore face. Good eye shape and colour. Correct size and shape and placement of ears. Gentle expression. Elegant neck into moderate front angulation, well balance with rear angulation. Good ribbing and length of loin. Shown in excellent condition. This dog moved out so sound due to his correct overall balance. His coat gleamed in the group ring and I was thrilled to see he put up a great performance. Excellent handling. Dog CC & BOB

2nd..Lundqvist-Hemstrom's Antefa's Zmeagol (swe)

Excellent head with correct balance of skull to fore face. Perfect scissor bite. Long elegant neck into moderate and balanced front angulation. Tight feet and pasterns. Good body shape and correct rear angulation. Super coat and condition. Moved out well and covered the ground with

ease. Well deserved Res Dog CC.

A lovely head on this bitch with good dentition. Gentle expression. Best eye shape and colour and good ear set. Correct front and rear angulation. Showing a little heaviness through the body now due to her age but a lovely type of Pharaoh hound. Moved very well and happy with her day,

Difficult class to assess due to differences in type. Some very good points on both.

1st..Bazinga Gazing At Haley's Comet (imp Nor)

Head is OK good length of fore face and skull. Good eye shape and well placed ears. Would prefer slightly more defined stop. Lovely neck into well balanced shoulder to upper arm. Would like more padding on front feet. Good length of ribbing and shown in excellent condition. Desired white tip. Moved out well coming and going.
