Boston & District Canine Society

Breed: Best in Show

Boston  & DCS

Best in Show

My thanks to Boston for inviting me to do both groups and BIS on the final day. Everything seemed to run smoothly and we were finished at a reasonable time.

This Society is clearly something right with another in entry.  There were some super entries in many of the non CC breeds, and the hall was very busy all day. 4 of the group judges were officiating at that level for the first time, so congratulations to them, and for Boston for inviting them.

I had an interesting line-up, 2 breeds wining at group level for the first time, 2 puppies and a veteran of almost 10.

The Neapolitan Mastiff, TOMMASO GOFFREDO'S TARO is great ambassador for this ancient breed. I think he is coming along nicely, but still has some maturing to do, right for his age but far from finished.  His well boned and presented in superb condition. His head is well proportioned. Not overdone anywhere and certainly covered plenty of ground on the move without rushing. He has a super temperament and I’m certain will have many more memorable wins.

The Lagotto, ROZEBOTTEL'S PORTHOS IMP NLD is still a puppy. Square in outline, eye-catching in profile with excellent topline and tail carriage.

The Saluki, CH CLASSICUS BRITANNIA JW SH CM  really elegant. She has a super head with typical expression. Long neck and well balanced, moderate angulation.

Another puppy was the Chow Chow, LECHAN LEWIS. I admired his proportions, nice length of leg and he went with typical gait. He needs to firm up, as you would expect from a puppy, but has great potential.

The Pekingese, CH YAKEE THE ARISTOCRAT has the most beautiful face.  Open features, wide and shallow, with super eyes. He is beautifully presented, well sound as sound as they come.

Runner Up was the veteran Samoyed, CH NIKARA DIAMOND DANCER JW. Not the first time I have done this lovely dog well. I thought he was in great form. Super conditioning. He is balanced and moderate. Great body. Lovely head and expression. Pulled out all the stops on the move, really looked a picture going round.

BIS went to the young Sealyham, CH/IR CH FORLEGD XLRATE LIGHTNING MC QUEEN AT THORNBERRYHALL. I think he is a special d. Super to go over, strong and sturdy and correct, well presented coat. Precise out and back. His well laid shoulder and super rear meant he really powered around the ring, holding a firm topline. Put up a great performance to steal my heart and the show.
