Whippet Bitches Crufts 2020 

Sincere thanks to The Crufts Committee for the kind invitation to judge whippet bitches at Crufts 2020. Thank you to all the exhibitors bringing their lovely ladies for me to asses. Quality in most classes was very strong, In Junior, Yearling, Mid Limit and Open, I would have happily awarded any of my shortlist a first.  The usual shoulder problem is still evident, but another thing I found was short forelegs, on otherwise super bitches, this spoils the overall balance of the bitch making them look heavy in front, when in fact they aren’t . Presentation on the whole was good but there were a few that could have benefited from a bath, not acceptable at any level. 

Veteran Bitch   What a lovely class to start the day, with some favourites and new senior ladies. 

1st CH SUPETA'S ECLIPSE JW SHCM (MRS S M & MISS F S MYCROFT) Eight year old lady who I have previously awarded a CC too.  She oozes breed type, I love her overall shape, carrying a great outline and super underline too. Lovely head with a long elegant neck, so correct in front,  with a deep brisket, she moved with purpose with reach and drive,  she looked super today BV in Breed 

2nd  HUNTINGHILL JAZZMATAZZ (MRS A E & MISS R C SNELGROVE)  a super quality fawn and white trim, love her size and type, feminine head, into a correct neck and front,  she too has a super  outline and underline, presented so well, just not quite moving out as well as 1 today 

3rd CYANGRANGE GIOCOMO DELFINO JW (MISS A M BRAY) I don’t think I have ever seen this lady sparkle as she did today, she has a super curvy outline,  good head and neck, with a deep brisket strong loin with neat short hocks, another sound mover. 

Minor Puppy - Bitch

1st COLLOONEY DITA VON TEASE (MR & MRS D G SHORT) Quality brindle girl, who is still quite immature (as she should be)Good head and neck into a well laid shoulder, enough depth for age, correct topline and rear, good width to thighs moved soundly to and fro and with good profile action. 

2nd OSTERFEN APHRODITE AT STONEFOX (MR M & MRS K FRYER) fawn and white parti different in type to one but a lovely girl. Avery attractive head, good neck clean shoulder and good depth, lovely flat bone and neat feet. When settled she looked a picture standing moved soundly  

3rd FALCONCRAG GAME ON (MISS S MARSTON-POLLOCK)Correct sized fawn bitch with lots to like super head neck and front, she is stlll a baby, would like a touch more length of body, good rear  moved ok when settled. 

Puppy - Bitch

1st VEREDON ANOTHER ROSE (MR R P SYKES)Three litter sisters headed this class, no wonder it was difficult to separate them.  I felt the winner was more balanced and presented a slightly better picture. She has a lovely head, strong neck, into a clean front, good depth, excellent topline and underline which she carries so well on the move, good width of thighs and strong second thigh, neat short hock. I feel she really comes into her own on the move, with fabulous to and fro movement and in profile BPB 

2nd VEREDON ANOTHER VERSE (MS S L & MR S J VARNAM & PARKER) I really liked this young lady, many of her sisters attributes apply, she had yet to settle in body, but she is very sound to and fro. Presented well and a  promising puppy.  

3rd ENVISAGE THIS AT SUPETA (MRS E, MISS F & MRS S MCKAY & MYCROFT) the 3rd litter sister, another lovely one and so similar, would like a touch more foreleg and she wasn’t so pricise is profile.   

Junior - Bitch A super class

1st CROSSCOP MAY BE ONE MORE AT MULCAIR (MRS J A WHITAKER-CROSBY )Fawn and white trim, lovely quality lady, she has a super head, neat ears, good length of neck into a very good front,  flat bone just enough depth for age, curvy outline and long tail, really like her free front movement, and very sound when viewed all round, one to watch out for. 

2nd BRYNTREIA WHISPERED LOVE AT PALMIK (MR M & MS Y HOWGATE & HULL) fawn and white parti, I love this young ladies type, her head has such a soft melting expression, super neck good depth, your hands just flow over her, very sound in profile but not quite the clean front action of  

3rd HERGEHILL WITH BELLS ON (MRS E ALLISSTONE) another super bitch, she has quality all through, loved her head, super neck and front, she carries her outline so well on the move, another with a promising future. 

Yearling - Bitch

1st  COLLOONEY BENDY WENDY (MR R WINTER) I loved this stunning lady, and would of loved t have taken her home, she has a super head and expression with the most appealing bright eye, super neat ears, lovely strong neck into a well laid shoulder with a good return of upper arm, correct depth,  well sprung ribs, good length to her body, super curvy outline and underline, she has good width to her thigh, short hocks, she is unexaggerated all through, she moves effortlessly round the ring, with such presence. Delighted to award her the RCC 

2nd CREME ANGLAISE'S LA FAYETTE [ATC AW01261NLD] (MR J W & MRS I AKERBOOM-VAN DER SCHAAF & DE VOS) This was another who I could have taken home, another ultra feminine  lady, perfect size, excels in breed type, another super bitch, so little to separate between the but just preferred the overall finish of 1, but very close up. 

3rd DEJARE DREAM ON (MISS D J & MRS M G REED & PACE) another lovely fawn bitch, of good type and quality, she has a lovely outline , on good legs and feet, moved well  when viewed all round. 

Undergraduate - Bitch  

Entries: 24 Abs: 4  

1st BRYNTREIA WHISPERED LOVE AT PALMIK (MR M & MS Y HOWGATE & HULL)as 2nd junior bitch. 

2nd DANLUKE LOVE AFFAIR AT LANGSHOR (MISS G & MR M LANGCAKE & SHORT) Fawn bitch heavier in type than 1, super head, strong neck, a good shoulder but would prefer a better upper arm, lovely depth, and outline, =moved well in profile. 

3rd MARLEBEN DREAM MOVER (MR L A & MRS M A FISHER) another fawn girl, with good overall bred type, attractive head, good neck and shoulder, correct outline, moved well. 

Graduate - Bitch  

Entries: 16 Abs: 2  

1st ZORADEN FIFTY SHADES DARKER JW (MISS D WEBBER) Black bitch who I have judge before, super size, and breed type, good head, ear and eye, strong neck, clean front with good depth, very good underline , strong read moved soundly. 

2nd WHIPSPERRIN DOLLY DAYDREAM (MR C & MISS S SHARKEY & AICKEN)quality brindle bitch, slightly longer cast than 1, good neck and front, with enough depth, she can tend to lean back on the stack but when moving she presents a super outline,  

3rd COLLOONEY SHE'S SO SASSY (MR & MRS D G SHORT) brindle bitch of correct size, good overall type and shape, still young so needs to mature. Moved well. 

Post Graduate - Bitch  Lots of lovely ladies in this class

1st COLLOONEY BIT ON THE SIDE (MR & MRS D G SHORT) Litter sister to my RCC winner, another super quality bitch, liked her head, into a good neck and clean front, just enough depth, super topline and underline, she really is a curvy bitch, she naturally covers the ground standing and on the move, was in my final selection for top honours, a lovely girl. 

2nd DANLUKE DARK CHOCOLATE DRISHAUN (MRS A M, MR M & MISS C LANCASHIRE & O'DONNELL)a correct size fawn lady, lovely head, she has a super outline, especially on the move, she holds it so well, presented in very good condition,  a sound mover all round. 

3rd TORBERS RARE MAGIC (MR R & MISS C HOOPER & MARSDEN)you have to get hands on to appreciate this lovely bitch, feminine head and super neck good clean front, lovely outline, very sound mover, she made a trio of lovely ladies. 

Mid Limit - Bitch another super class of ladies

1st CYANGRANGE MY CUPPA TEA OF DANLUKE JW (MRS H, MR L & MR J JOHNSTON & WILSON)this one is a real poppet, she is so feminine, so correct in size and proportions,  super brindle girl, lovely head, with a super gentle expression, strong neck into a good front, loved her curves, moved and handled well. 

2nd BARMOLL BAG O'TRICKS (MRS B M MCCONKEY)another super bitch, slightly heavier all through than one, she has a super outline, both standing and on the move, really liked her overall balance and shape, a lovely girl 

3rd AARMINIAS PRINCESS OF CHINA AT BOWDONIA (MS M THOMAS) another super lady, liked her overall size and presence, super outline with lots of curves, such a sound mover too. 

Limit - Bitch  

Entries: 20 Abs: 7  

1st GAZENORTH SECRET IDENTITY (MR P B GLAHOLM)fawn bitch who is a typical whippet, no exaggerations, just whippet. She is of correct size, super head and expression, well laidshoulder and good return of upper arm, super top and underline, so sound all through and lovely bitch. Moved soundly and freely. 

2nd ARDENCOTE SWEET DESTINY FOR BLUESTREAK (MS C BROWN)another who I really like, very attractive head, clean front with good depth, good body proportions, presented in excellent condition, although moved soundly, just lacked a touch of enthusiasm. 

3rd MARIMAY CANCAN (MR I B & MRS B M HALBERT)another super quality bitch, she came into her own on the move, lovely curvy outline, a very nice trio of girls. 

Open - Bitch so many beautiful bitches went without a place, a truly super class.

1st CH COLLOONEY QUEEN OF DRAGONS WITH BROCHINBELLE JW (MRS M L & MRS A L PLACE & HALLIDAY) Fawn and white parti colour, she to me has everything you would want in a whippet bitch, she has the most lovely melting expression,  she is so feminine, super arched neck, into a well laid shoulder, good length and return of upper arm, lovely flat bone and feet, well sprung ribs, strong loin, with elegant arch over  it, strong hindquarters with good width, she stood naturally over plenty of ground, her foot fall on the move was spot on, without exaggeration.  She moved effortlessly around the ring, I could not deny her the CC, delighted to see her awarded BOB by the referee and shortlisted in the fabulous hound group, Huge congratulations 

2ndCH/DUTCH CH CREME ANGLAISE'S EAT MY DUST DUTCH JUNIOR CH ESH'18 (MR J W & MR K AKERBOOM & VAN DER SCHAAF) I have been a secretly admired this stunning young lady, now fully mature and looking super, she too is so whippety, she excells in breed type, she is so correct all through, I love her beautiful head, super front, and depth, her lovely outline, she was very sound on the move, but couldn’t quite match the ring presence of 1 

3rd CH PALMIK MISTY EVE JW (MR M & MS Y HOWGATE & HULL)another super curvy lady, slightly out of a large mould, she is still feminine, super front, and excellent depth, loved her top and underline, moved very soundly in this fantastic class. 

Special Racing/Lure Coursing - Bitch

1st ZORADEN DARKEST WINGS JW (MISS D WEBBER) another lovely black from this exhibitor, she is of good breed type, good head and neck, super depth, lovely curvy outline, well balanced all through, moved soundly 

2nd KENAITEEN BLIZZARD AT SILVERGARTH (MS J JONES) Brindle and white bitch, super head and neck, good depth to brisket, plenty of heartroom, correct tuck up, strong rear which enabled her to drive around the ring. 

3rd DUTCH CH CREME ANGLAISE'S SACRE COEUR (IMP NL) (MISS J E DOHERTY)a favourite of mine, so correct in size and type she seemed to be more awake her than in veteran (it was early), shown in excellent fit condition, moving really well. 

Good Citizen Dog Scheme - Bitch

2nd CITYCROFT GRACE KELLY OF RUNNEL JW (MRS B E C TROUTON) I really liked this quality bitch and she pushed one all the way, lovely girl of correct size, she is so well balanced, super head, clean shoulders, super depth, and outline, so free and easy on the move,  presented well. 

3rd CYANGRANGE GIOCOMO DELFINO JW (MISS A M BRAY) as 3rd veteran bitch
