Breed: Utility Group

  Hound/Utility

Many thanks to Boston Ch show for giving me the opportunity to judge

my first group at a Championship show.

I had a wonderful day with some great dogs to judge and thank the breed

Judges for doing such a good job.

My shortlist comprised of French Bulldog, Shar Pei and Tibetan Terrier with a special mention for

Bulldog and Shih Tzu as well. Placings were as follows.

GROUP 1 LECHAN LEWIS Breed: Chow Chow (MR S B & MRS P M GODBER)

A stunning Chow Chow youngster who teemed with quality presenting a very typical

Profile and exhibited a strong neck and good leg length.

A strong masculine head with enough length of muzzle and good padding. Clean

eye and flat skull topped with the smallest of ears. Moderates angles and these

showed well on the move with the

typical pendulum gait. As I said, a typey dog who I think exhibits the qualities of

the breed combined with the health improvements that the breed has been

striving for. Expertly presented and handled. Such an exciting dog.

GROUP 2 CH NAVARRE'S EXTROVERT JW Breed: Poodle (Miniature) (MRS E HOLMES-LEAK)

Striking chap who handled well on the table with the long head and chiselling

and a decent length of leather. Lovely neck and well set front. Good spring and

length of rib into short very strong loin. Well angled at both ends and moving out

with that very poodley attitude. Muscled and in great show condition.

GROUP 3 AM CH SONDAISA SHEZA BLAZIN HOT AT NAKODO IMP TAF Breed: Akita

(MS C, F, MRS R,MR K & C BEVIS, CORR, VENEZIA & SULLIVAN)

A stunner who really impressed me. Wonderful profile and overall proportions on

this bitch. Well off for bone and body and very well muscled. In good double coat

and with excellent basic construction, moving out with balanced side gait

and true on the up and down.

GROUP 4 CH KICHIGAI'S ONLY THE LONLEY Breed: Keeshond (MR C & MISS N L HICKSON)

A classy Keeshond, compact and with well set on tail who immediately impressed

me with his lovely head, colour and markings. A very spitzy attitude to life, he gave

his owner a couple of difficult moments but his spritely gait was sound and he is

a delight to go over.
