Cheshire Agricultural Society

The Royal Cheshire County Show

Just wish to thank the organisers for a very well run show and it was a pleasure to judge the breeds listed. Little sad that some of the breeds were unable to stay for the group but on a ‘high’ very pleased with those that got placed in it. Thanks to all the exhibiters who came under me.

CLUMBER SPANIEL

OPEN

1ST AND BOB Walton’s Micklemess Magic Flute.

Three year old bitch with good markings. Stood alone but a decent example of the breed. Head un-exaggerated, with nice square muzzle and good scissor bite. Eyes of correct colour. Ears well clothed. Strong in neck, with good angulation to front. Deep through chest. Of decent bone and spring of rib. In good coat and well feathered to legs and chest. Also well set feathered tail of decent length and carried level on the move.

FIELD SPANIEL

JUNIOR

1ST AND BEST PUPPY Smith’s Fecimus Living the Dream at Flyenpig

Deep liver 11 month old puppy, of good conformation and balance. Good angulation front and rear. Ample spring of rib, which were of good length. Not in full coat but feathering good to chest, underbody and tail. Tail of good length to balance with body and well set, carried nicely on the move. Well shaped head, good eye colour, lean beneath, ears set correct and well clothed. Moved well round the ring. Please to see her placed GROUP 4 in the Puppy Group.

POST GRAD.

1st Wheeler’s Sonnetend Careless Whisper

2 year old liver dog. Not quite the head I was looking for. Low set ears with good feathering, as was the rest of his body. Head held well on the move, with good length of neck. Good length to ribcage.

OPEN

1st and BOB Moore’s Elgert Sweet Little Lies at Gadhelic

Mature 4 year old liver bitch who was well made throughout. Good in profile. Well balanced and good angulation to front, with good length of ribcage. Deep well developed chest. Level top line, held on the move. Well clothed to body. Head of good expression and typical of the breed. Good scissor bite. Moved with confidence.

2nd RBOB Smith’s Ewtor Affinity for Flyenpig JW ShCM

Close decision between these two. Similar remarks apply as to winning dog. Just preferred winner on her feathering and had the edge with regard to her head. Another day could easily be different.

3rd McVitty Sonnetend Faith

IRISH WATER SPANIEL

OPEN

1st and BOB Davies/Margerison’s Kandrelli Jack Snipe

I have seen this boy on many occasions from outside the ring and never fully appreciated his worth till I went over him. A quality 2 year old dog who was presented in super condition and was not acting the clown today but showed well here and in the group. Well balanced in profile, strong shoulders, head carried well on the move. Profuse coat with crisp ringlets. Masculine head with good eye colour and ear set, coat as required to form a good ‘top knotch’. Moved round the ring effortlessly and so pleased he was placed GROUP 2 in a very strong and well filled group.

SUSSEX SPANIEL

JUNIOR

1st and RBOB.Hastings Bardings Bypolar Bear

Stood alone but a worthy winner. Temperament was lovely with lively tail action. A lot to like about this 15 month old dog. Head proportions good, well developed nostrils. Ear set good. Has the typical frown with a soft expression. Strong in body, with good bone and in good coat with good feathering to fore and hindquarters. Good angulation to front and rear. Good feet. Moved well.
