My sincere thanks to the Officers and Committee for their invitation to judge at such a friendly and welcoming show. Thank you to all the exhibitors who entered, it was a privilege to judge an overall quality entry. However I was slightly disappointed to find an incorrect bite and some exhibits carrying excess weight.

Golden Retrievers

Puppy (3,0)

1st Trotters Baricia Bella Donna. So much to like about this 6 mth old pale bitch. Caught my eye as she entered the ring, so happy, confident and immaculately presented. Very well balanced and symmetrical outline, not exaggerated in any way. Good dark pigmentation, kind expression, correct bite and lovely balanced head. Good length of neck, well laid back shoulders and straight forelegs. Balanced throughout body with a good depth and spring of rib. Short coupled, strong through loin, level tail set, well bent stifles and straight hocks. Well boned throughout and good round feet. Very happy on the move and moved well with a good free stride, held her level top line on the move and carried her tail well. I am sure this lovely pippy will have a very successful show career. Pleased to award her BP and later see her placed BPIS 3.

  2nd Walker & Baugh’s Keosci Muffintop. 8 mth old pale bitch in good condition. A quality bitch but different in type and development stage to 1, just lacking that overall finish and sparkle at the moment. Nicely balanced. Good head and expression with dark pigmentation and correct bite. Good length of neck and nice front angulation. Straight forelegs and good cat like feet. Good depth of rib, short coupled and strong loins. Well bent stifle and straight hocks. Level top line, which she kept level on the move, good tail set and carriage. Moved well with a long free, powerful stride.

Junior (3,1)

1st Bell’s Hoaaloha Moana. Another eye catching bitch with so much to like. Happy and confident, 13 mth old pale bitch in good coat and condition. Balanced, symmetrical and not exaggerated in any way. Lovely balanced head and kind expression. Dark pigmentation and correct bite. Good length of neck, well laid back shoulders and nice length of upper arm. Straight forelegs, round feet and well boned throughout. Well balanced in body with a good depth and spring of rib, short coupled and strong in the loin. Well bent stifle and straight hocks. Lovely level top line and good tail set, Moved very well with drive and good long free stride, showing correct gait from all angles. Carried her tail and her top line level on the move. Very pleased to award her BOB and very proud to watch her take RBIS.

2nd Bell’s Hoaaloha Maui. Lovely young dog with a lot of promise and equal quality to his litter sister, who just outshone him today. 13mth old well balanced pale dog in good coat and condition. Good overall balance and symmetry. Nice head and good expression. Dark pigmentation and correct bite. Good length of neck, well laid back shoulders and good length of upper arm. Straight forelegs, round feet and well boned throughout. Well balanced in body with a good depth and spring of rib, short coupled and strong in the loin. Well bent stifle and straight hocks. Lovely level top line and good tail set, which he carried well on the move. Moved very well with drive and good long free stride, showing correct gait from all angles.

1st Thurm’s Beldonburn Fairplay ShCM. Judged this dog as a youngster, I liked him then and he did not disappoint today. At 11 years old he still has it and showed the youngsters how it was done. Happy, alert, attentive and enjoying himself. Lovely balanced outline and not exaggerated. Well balanced head and lovely kind expression. Good pigmentation and correct bite. Good length of neck, well laid back shoulders, straight forelegs and round feet. Balanced body with a good depth and spring of rib, short coupled and strong through the loin. Well bent stifles, good second thigh and straight hocks. Level top line and good tail set. Moved well with good stride, straight and true from all angles. In lovely mid gold coat and in great condition for his age. Pleased to award him RBOB.

2nd Palton’s Panetela. Lovely mature 6 yr old dog. In good rich golden coat and in nice condition. Nicely balanced and symmetrical. Lovely head and expression, dark pigmentation and correct bite. Good length of neck. Well laid back shoulders, straight forelegs and round feet. Good depth of rib and well sprung. Short coupled and strong through loin. Well bent stifles and straight hocks. Nice top line. Moved well with drive but carried his tail a little high.

1st Smith’s Flyenpyg Snout But The Best. Black 6 mth old bitch in good condition. Well-built and balanced. Very attentive to her handler and never stopped wagging her tail. Lovely broad skull with good expression. Correct bite. Strong powerful neck of good length. Well placed shoulders with good length, placing legs well under body. Round compact feet. Nicely balanced through the body with a good depth and width, with well sprung ribs and short coupled. Good angulation to hindquarters. Good tail and nice tail carriage on the move. Lovely short dense coat. Moved well, covering the ground, straight and true in front and rear. Not exaggerated in any way or carrying any excess weight. Awarded BP and shortlisted for BPIS.

2nd Roberts’ Stormrose Sweet Wishes. 9mth old Yellow bitch in good condition. Well-built and balanced. Good broad skull with nice expression. Correct bite. Strong powerful neck. Well placed shoulders and legs placed well under body. Round compact feet. Good depth and width in body with well sprung ribs. Short coupled and well angulated hindquarters. Good otter tail with nice tail carriage. Covered the ground well on the move.

1st Hepper’s Amorozza in Extremo Mardas (Imp RUS). 3yr old Yellow dog. Strongly build and nicely balanced without exaggeration or excess weight. Correct bite. Broad skull with well-defined features and intelligent expression. Strong powerful neck of good length. Well laid back shoulders placing his legs well under the body. Straight well boned forelegs and round feet. Well sprung barrel ribs with good depth. Short coupled. Level top line and strong loins. Good otter tail and nice tail carriage on the move. Covered the ground well with a good free stride.

2nd Roberts’ Bronia Yokanga Gold. 2 yr old Yellow dog. In good condition. Attentive to handler. Well-built and overall well balanced, but slightly shorter in leg than 1. Broad skull and good expression. Strong neck and good shoulders. Straight well boned forelegs and round feet. Good depth and well sprung barrel ribs. Short coupled and strong loin. Good otter tail. Covered the ground with a free stride. Preferred balance and outline of 1.

1st Roberts’ Stormrose Golden Fortune JW ShCM. 7 ½ yr old yellow dog in good coat and condition. Strongly built and nicely balanced outline without exaggeration or excess weight. Broad skull with well-defined features. Correct bite. Intelligent expression and attentive to his handler. Strong powerful neck set on well laid shoulders and legs placed well under body. Straight foreleg, round feet and well boned throughout. Good depth of chest and well sprung barrel ribs. Short coupled and strong loin. Well angulated hindquarters. Moved well, covering the ground with a free stride and straight and true in front and rear. Pleased to award him BOB.

2nd Smith’s Flyenpyg Porky Pig JW. 18 mth old yellow dog in good hard condition with no excess weight or exaggeration. Well-built and nicely balanced. Broad skull with well-defined features. Correct bite. String neck and well laid shoulders. Legs well under body and straight. Round feet. Good depth of chest and barrel rib, ribs well sprung. Short coupled and strong loins. Well angulated hindquarters. Moved well when settled, covering the ground and straight and true. Just preferred the maturity and overall outline of 1.

Flatcoated Retrievers

Graduate (3,1)

1st Huyton’s Hightyne Ramblin Rose. 7 ½ mth old black bitch in very good condition and coat. Happy and enthusiastic, her tail never stopped wagging. Nice racy outline. Nicely moulded, long skull with an intelligent expression. Correct bite. Good length of neck without throatiness and set on well-placed shoulders. Good depth and breadth of chest Straight forelegs and round well arched feet. Well ribbed body, fairly flat but showing gradual spring. Moderate bend of stifle and straight hocks. Nice top line. Well set tail, carried well on the move. Lovely free and flowing movement. Awarded BP.

2nd Huyton’s Hightyne When I Fall in Love. 7 ½ mth old black dog in very good condition and coat. Happy and enthusiastic. Nice racy outline. Well moulded skull with intelligent expression. Correct bite. Good length of neck set on well-placed shoulders. Good depth and breadth of chest. Straight forelegs and round well arched feet. Well ribbed body, fairly flat with gradual spring of rib. Good top line. Moderate bend of stifle and straight hocks. Wells set tail, carried well on the move. Moved with free flowing movement. Very close decision between these two siblings.

1st Huytons’s Hopevalley Morning Oregon for HIghtyne. Very attractive 3 yr old black dog. In excellent coat, condition and well presented. Happy, alert and enthusiastic. Powerful and racy outline. Well moulded, long skull with good width. Intelligent expression and correct bite. Good length of neck, running well onto back and well placed shoulders. Forelegs straight with round well arched feet. Good depth of chest, fairly broad and well defined brisket. Well ribbed body showing gradual spring and short loin. Muscular hindquarters with good stifles and straight hocks. Well set tail, carried gaily and level with back on the move. Moved with a powerful, free flowing gait and straight and true from all angles. Very close decision between 1 &2. Pleased to award him BOB.

2nd Nicholson & Brown’s Chanangel U’ Got the Look at Hareddals. Another very attractive 2 ½ yr old black dog. In good condition and well presented. Happy, alert and enthusiastic. Powerful and racy outline. Well moulded, long skull with good width. Intelligent expression and correct bite. Good length of neck, running well onto back and well placed shoulders. Forelegs straight with round well arched feet. Good depth of chest, fairly broad and well defined brisket. Well ribbed body showing gradual spring and short loin. Muscular hindquarters with good stifles and straight hocks. Well set tail, carried gaily and level with back on the move. Moved with a powerful, free flowing gait and straight and true from all angles. Just lacking the coat condition of 1.

Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retrievers

1st Wardrope’s Alterego Rusty Fox (IMP CZE). Good sized, compact 13 mth old dog. Good overall outline, very well coated, nicely coloured and well marked. Nice wedge shaped skull with flesh coloured pigmentation. Correct bite. Well set ears, slightly erect. Nice length of neck. Well placed shoulders and good forequarters. Straight forelegs and well arched rounded feet. Good depth of chest and well sprung ribs. Strong loin and nicely angulated hindquarters. Level top line and well set tail. Tail broad at base, well feathered and carried well on the move. Moved with good reach, drive and spring. Awarded BOB.

2nd Wardrope’s Dizzy Miss Lizzy. 3 ½ yr old bitch. Smaller than 1 and of a different style. Nicely coloured and marked. Good shape to skull and nice pigmentation. Correct bite. Well set, slightly erect ears. Well placed shoulders and straight forelegs. Good depth of chest and well sprung ribs. Well set, heavily feathered tail. Moved well with good spring, drive and reach.
