York Canine Association Open Show 21-7-19 (Tony Fleetwood) Thank you to the committee for allowing me the opportunity to be the replacement judge for the toy Group, this was an outside show and the weather was dull but dry through-out the day, Thank you to the exhibitors who gave such a great entry especially in the AVNSC & not many absentees, Presentation was excellent in all breeds with many quality dogs in attendance, and with such a wide variety of breeds I had to make many split decisions, Thank you to the exhibitors for accepting my placements, we all see things differently & another judge on a different day would do things differently. Also many thanks to my capable stewards. Toy Group winners 1st Gullon: Griffon, Barnfall Sunshine. Red rough, 18mths, male, what a smart little dog with a cobby square short body, wide in chest, he took my eye today in such a strong group, lively & alert, coming back into good harsh coat, never put a foot wrong, large head with dark pigment, small erect ears, correct bite, moved free with drive on straight legs. 2nd Fothergill: Chihuahua smooth coat, Diamonchi Mister Moon. 3rd Hicks: Pug, Datiro Sun and Surf 7yrs, Male, Mature, square compact Coby body, head large & round with short muzzle, no wrinkle over nose, dark eye, small ears, undershot bite, strong leg, movement is free with feet kept directly in front with roll of the hindquarters, good black pigment to nails & nose, high set tail, well Shown & presented. 4th Lancaster: Pomeranian, Clanestar Firebird. Orange, 2yrs, nice brood/show size bitch, in good coat with a high set tail and good plume, dark pigment, small ears, nice almond eye, moved soundly & stood four square. Toy Puppy Group 1st Fothergill: Chihuahua smooth coat, Diamonchi Little Miss Star. 2nd Panton Bem & Panton: Yorkshire terrier, Dunningvale Ferrari Spider. Male, 6mths, Quality Puppy who shone brightly today, outgoing personality, correct size for age, balanced head, dark pigment, moved soundly with level top line & tail carried high, coat still at the immature stage. 3rd Westerman: Min Pinscher, Keljantzi’s Yulianna @ Charpin. 4th Hubble & Summerbell: Japanese Chin, Dabrives Silver Carrington. MINATURE PINSCHER PUPPY (1) 1st Westerman: Keljantzi’s Yulianna @ Charpin. 11mths, bitch, B/Tan, balanced sturdy & compact, head narrow with flat skull, dark pigment, ear set on high, correct scissor bite, arched neck, , moved with a true hackneyed action, coat smooth hard & short. POST GRADUATE (2:0) 1ST Gullon: Barnfall Graceful Gladys, 17mths,bitch, Red, Short coupled sturdy & compact in structure, high set ear placement, dark pigment, head narrow with flat skull, scissor bite, moved well true front hackneyed action & rear parallel hindquarters, correct coat smooth & short, tail carried high. 2nd Reeve: Gillings Nora Red, Bitch, 2yrs, Movement let this dog down today as she insisted on sniffing the ground when doing her triangle, showed well on the table, high set tail of good length giving the required balanced appearance, nice exhibit. OPEN (2:0) 1st Gullon: Barnfall Goodtime Gary, Male, 17mths, Black & tan, Again balanced sturdy & compact, Quality exhibit, strong male head with the required flat skull, well-formed nostrils elongated & narrow in muzzle, high set ears, body square shape with sloping top line, scissor bite, dark pigment, arched neck, sound moving with that true hackneyed action. B.O.B 2nd Reeve: Alcum Jelly Bean, Male, 3yrs, Red, initially not very happy on the table but settled after moving, a dog of true type he had no outstanding faults, sound in movement both front & rear. Japanese Chin Puppy (2:0) 1st Hubble & Summerbell: Dabrives Silver Dynasty, Bitch, 11mths, Black/White, head is large with broad skull, level bite, nose dark & large, elegant & compact with good coat for age, straight movement, slender hare-footed, promising youngster. 2nd McFarlane: Jeskandai Koi No Yokan, Male, 8mths, Black/White, very active exhibit who did her best not to be examined on the table, but from what I did see she had everything in place, I’m sure given time she will overcome this & prove to be a worthy exhibit. Post Graduate (3:0) 1st Mahony, Leaterwood&Hamersly, Male, 2yrs, lemon/white (sable) colour evenly distributed, Eye catching dog with Profuse coat which was long & straight, dainty elegant & compact body, lovely head with broad skull, wide in chest, well bodied, fine bone with feathering down to slender hare-feet, shown in good condition, precise movement. B.O.B. 2nd Hubble & Summerbell: Dabrives Silver Carrington, Male, 11mths, Black/White, I did like this puppy, he had the desired length of leg with straight strong bone, creating the desired square compact shape, head is large & with a broad skull, eyes large & dark, ears small set wide & high, level bite, dark pigment to nose, I’m sure he will have a promising future. B.P.I.B 3rd McFarlane: Glendyke Step out in Style. Open (3:0) 1st Hubble & Summerbell: Dabrives Fields of Silver, Bitch, 2yrs, Black/White, similar qualities to the other dogs shown by this exhibitor, feminine, square in shape with correct length of body which was equal to the height at withers, moved well, presentation first class, she has passed on all her qualities to both puppies which were shown today. 2nd Mahoney, Leaterwood&Hamersly, Am Ch. Haiku Tacori Yamato Takeru Shishio, what a mouth full, Male, 3yrs, Black/white, my notes say not as confident at first but moved well when settled, lots to like about this dog, straight movement, slender hare-foot with strong bone, Head large with broad skull, level bite, large dark nose. 3rd McFarlane: Myojo Morgan @ Glendyke. Papillon Puppy (0) Post graduate (1) 1st Maskell: Kazkell Milo’s Dream, Bitch, 20mths, Tricolour, quality exhibit, nice size, shown & presented well, dainty & balanced, alert, finely pointed muzzle, dark pigment, rounded skull, dark round eye, large ears set at correct angle, complete scissor bite, deep chest, good turn of stifle, level top line, moved well. B.O.B Open (1) 1st Waller: Lilnrose Treasure The Dream, Bitch, 3yrs, Dark red sable & white, Alert dainty & balanced, large rounded ears set at 45 degrees apart, finely pointed muzzle with rounded skull, dark pigment to nose, dark round eye, scissor bite, Abundant flowing coat, deep chest, good turn of stifle, level top line. L/C Chihuahua Puppy (1) 1st Gilling: Chantico Mercedes of Talocan, Bitch, 11mths, Gold/white, nice size, presented in good condition, tail held all the time good outline, stood & moved soundly, pleasing in head, correct scissor bite, large flared ears, feet small & dainty, coat with good soft texture. B.O.B Post Graduate (3:1) 1st Gilling: Chantico Mercedes of Talocan. 2nd Mason: Catwalk Queen, Bitch, 4yrs, Fawn Sable, well presented, head a little strong for me but was rounded & domed, short muzzle, eyes large dark & round, good scissor bite, moved well, tail carried high both standing & moving. S/C Chihuahua Puppy (1) 1st Fothergill: Diamonchi Little Miss Star. Bitch, 7mths, Cream, what a star she is outgoing with a big personality, walked into the ring like she owned it, sound on the table & racing round the ring with her tail up all the time, I’m sure this puppy does not need a handler, ticks all the boxes when comparing her to the breed standard, I could not find any faults so won’t go into any detail about breed points, this breeder produces type. B.P.I.B & Toy Puppy Group 1st Post Graduate (4:1) 1st Fothergill: Bondor Mr Sun Shine, Male,14mths, Gold, good breed type, small & dainty, head is rounded & apple domed, short muzzle, large dark round eye, large ears at correct angle, mouth good, level back, moved well with high set tail, hard to fault. 2nd Cowen: Zoomeera Freewheeling @ Anderoco, Male,18mths,Cream, again a dog with good breed type, very close decision between these two males, steady on the table, neat head with the darkest of pigment, moved well with tail carried high at all time. 3rd Norton: Valenchino One last time with Donluchi, unlucky to meet these two males. Open (5:2) 1st Fothergill: Diamonchi Mister moon, Male, 21mths, White, what can I say stunning example of the breed, handled & presented to perfection, what a showman, alert with sound movement & did not put a foot wrong at any time, text book head piece with the darkest pigment, perfect shape & size. B.O.B & Toy Group 2. 2nd Stirzaker: Ameliachi Making Memories, Male, 2-1/2yrs, Cream. Quality exhibit who fits the breed standard well, Head well rounded apple dome skull, large dark eyes, ears large & flaring, correct scissor bite, moved soundly, handled & presented well, did not look out of place in this quality class. 3rd Norton: Krassel Euphoria Blossom Valenchino, Nice Bitch. AVNSC TOY Puppy (4:1) 1st Golden: Coton De Tullear, Happy Paws Kiss Me Kate, Bitch, 8mths, White, maturing nicely, in good heavy coat for age, correct head proportions, eyes dark & round, alert at all times, correct scissor bite, deep chested short in neck, free moving parallel gait. 2nd Corner: CKCS, Kelrick Black Velvet Band, Tricolour, Male, 7mths, happy dog wagging his tail, pleasing head which was flat between the ears, dark round eye, broad cushioned muzzle with black nostrils, nice size, good depth & spring of rib, level top line on move which was sound. 3rd Milton: Coton De Tullear, Tsachillies Princess Angel (imp) quality Bitch Junior (3:1) 1st McFarlane: Lowchen, Kerryken Keir Rob, Black/Cream, Male, 15mths, Shown in good lion clip, outgoing personality, head carried high & proud, defined stop, round dark eye, complete scissor bite, long neck, strong short body, movement free straight & true. I must thank all the Lowchen exhibitors today who entered in support of the original judge. 2nd Reeve: Waukesha Rockahula @ Russiatree, ETT, Bitch, 14mths, B/T, had her mind on other distractions around the ring today, she had all the desired characteristics of the breed, just needs to focus on the job in hand must be very frustrating for the handler. Post Graduate (6:3) 1st Bryan: Löwchen, Teejay Struck Gold, 2yrs, Male, Cream sable, Good breed type, showing with great attitude & commanding the ring with his presence, standing firm on the table & free moving gait with parallel action both ways, excellent head carried high & proud, correct scissor bite. Best AVNSC 2nd Stones: Maltese, Kericrest Little Treasure, 19mths, Neat little bitch who showed well, coming into good long flowing coat, balanced head with defined stop, dark pigment, long hanging ears, complete scissor bite, straight flowing movement. 3rd Milton: Coton De Tullear, Cotonkiss Frozen Xplosion. Open (5:2) 1st Golden: Coton De Tullear, Kaylo V H Balgzand, Bitch, 3yrs, White, Mature bitch hard to fault this quality exhibit, good size, with movement that cannot be faulted, conforms well to the breed standard as I interpret it, just missed out for BOB with a split decision which could be different on another day, but I’m sure she will & has had a successful show career future. 2nd McFarlane: Löwchen, Sharlarna Eagle Eye @ Glendyke, Cream sable, Male, 7yrs, sound moving male with the darkest of pigment, just starting to show his age but that did not detracted from his appearance, head carried high & proud, with defined stop, round dark eye, regular complete scissor bite, long neck, strong short body, credit must be given to the owner for keeping him in tip top condition. 3rd Bryan: Löwchen, Bigglesmere in Private, another quality Löwchen. AV TOY Puppy (4:1) 1st Westerman: Min Pin, Keljantzi’s Yulianna @ Charpin. 2nd McFarlane: Jap Chin, Jeskandai Koi No Yokan. 3rd Corner: CKCS, Kelrick Black Velvet Band. Post Graduate (1) 1st McFarlane: Löwchen, Kerryken Keir Rob. Open (1:1) Veteran (6:1) 1st Gullon: Griffon, Attborg Bloom a New Flower. 8yrs, Black/Tan Rough, Male. 2nd Gilling: L/C Chihuahua, Ch Vikkilous Perfect Pasha of Talocan, 8yrs, Tricolour, Bitch. 3rd Maskell: Papillon, Kazkell Thyme to Dream, 9yrs, Tricolour, Male. 4th McFarlane: Löwchen, Publicity put a Spell on you, 8yrs, Cream Sable, Male. The quality of these Veterans was a credit to their owners, placing them was a difficult decision as they all possessed true breed type & it was a long day before they had a chance to shine, which they all did.
