Summer Open Show – Saturday 5th October 2019

Having been invited to judge this Breed Summer Open Show by the committee in 2017, I had been looking forward to the occasion immensely and when it arrived it was certainly worth the wait! The entry was 59 dogs making 98 entries. I thoroughly enjoyed the day spent in great company with excellent dogs, sporting exhibitors and fantastic support from my very efficient steward Hilary Norbury.

Minor Puppy Dog 3

1. Howard’s Tameron Mr Pure Xcess. This 6 ½ month old confident baby is so nicely put together and clearly right out of the top drawer. Super head qualities, enhanced by those endearing dark round eyes, well placed nose and broad jaw. Excellent neck and shoulders. Well ribbed and bodied. Nicely angulated throughout. Secure level topline. Moved soundly and with style! BPD, BMPIS & BPIS

2. Beer & Tilley’s Miracey Sand Warrier For Tilbe. Attractive head, good for substance and bone. Excellent neck. Still very immature and topline to settle. Moved very well with strong rear drive. Just needs time.

Junior Dog 7

1. Maule’s Daltrica Jamie Lee. Black. Well built ‘all male’ and impressive to examine. Absolutely spot on topline and tail setting. Uses his beautiful neck to advantage. Being so well constructed it is not surprising that he is a superb mover. At this stage of maturity there is still more to come and he will continue to impress.

2. Brown’s Rossvale Eclipse of The Sun. Impressive head with large dark eyes. Well placed nose and broad width of jaw. Beautifully arched neck into into well laid shoulders. Good for rib and topline. Sturdy firm rear movement. Tail well set and carried to finish this balanced picture. This was a close call between two different types but I just felt that he didn’t make the best of himself today but nevertheless a serious contender.
