The Chertsey & District Canine Society, Open Show Friday 19th April 2019

Many thanks to the committee for inviting me to judge Golden Retrievers at their open show, the centre was lovely and cool inside although very warm outside, all the dogs were presented in clean condition, I was pleased with the general condition of the dogs, bites were all good and tail sets were all correct.

Puppy (5 Entries, 3 Abs)

1st Hill Miss P & Mrs S, Sandaula Kiss From a Rose (AI)

9mth old mid gold bitch, balanced feminine head with good pigmentation, clean neck into correct shoulders, lovely straight front with ample bone, lovely feet, good shoulders and correct topline, rolled a little on the move although moved soundly with correct tail carriage.

2nd Morss Mrs H, Olvinglay Soothsayer

7mth old pale boy pleasing head good pigment, good neck into correct shoulders, excellent bone, lovely feet good topline starting to develop well, a little heavier than one, did not move well around the ring giving handler a hard time.  

Junior (11 Entries, 6 Abs)

1st Turner Miss R, Moonshine De Ria Vela over Amilone (IMP ESP)

12mth old bitch, feminine head with kind expression, good pigmentation, kind eye, clean neck into correct shoulders, front straight and of good bone correct feet, body balanced with level topline, strong rear quarters with well bent stifle, correct tail set carried well on the move, flowed well round the ring.  

2nd Hill Miss P & Mrs S, Sandaula This Will Do (AI)

Litter sister to 1st in puppy class, liked her a lot, feminine balanced head of good proportion, kind eye, good length of neck into well laid back shoulders, good front with good bone, correct feet, body balanced and short coupled, ribs deep and well sprung, level topline, correct tail set carried level on the move, good turn of stifle, didn’t move well in this class although had settled for the puppy challenge to take Best Puppy

22mth old gold girl lovely head with good balance and chiselling, correct ear set, lovely pigment, good length of neck clean and strong, shoulders well laid back, straight front of good bone, balanced body, short-coupled & deep through heart, well sprung ribs, level topline carried well on the move correct tail set, muscled rear quarters moved with ease around the ring.

16mth old pale bitch, pleasing head, correct shoulders, straight front with correct feet and good bone, level topline, balanced body of good size, correct tail, good turn of stifle moved best in class.  

2nd Kelsey Mrs LM, Carolake Ruby Tuesday

3 year old mid gold bitch in good condition, pleasing head, strong neck into correct shoulders, straight front, longer cast than 1st moved erratically today and seemed a little stressed with the situation.

3 year old mid gold bitch lovely feminine head all in proportion, clean strong neck of good proportion into well laid back shoulders, straight front with ample bone and correct feet, good depth of chest with well sprung ribs, level top held on the move, well-muscled rear with good turn of stifle, correct tail set used well on the move, no hesitation in awarding her Best of Breed

2nd Turner Miss R & Rycroft Mrs C, Amilone Royale Scot

3 year old mid gold boy, masculine head, good neck & shoulders, straight front with good bone, coat on legs badly marked, body of good proportion, took a while to settle for handler.

4 year old bitch, feminine head with good working, pigment a little light today, straight front of good bone, strong neck into good shoulders, level topline good depth of chest and well sprung ribs, lovely turn of stifle in reasonably hard condition, good tail action on the move, moved with purpose. Reserve Best of Breed
