PORTSMOUTH & SOUTHSEA KENNEL ASSOCIATION OPEN SHOW SUNDAY 10TH FEBRUARY 2019 

 

My Thanks to the committee for their  judging invitation  &hospitality .My Stewards for their hard  

 

work & to my Exhibitors for their entries.Dogs were shown in good condition  some were a little  

 

playful & unsettled & it was a pleasure to have the privilege to Judge them 

 

BOXER 

 

Lovely to see2 quality dogs from the same kennels Owner to be complemented on their excellent  

 

condition. 

 

J (1)1.Pearn’s BONMAC JACKANORY /BrinB Shown in good condition nicely shaped head with broad  

 

muzzle ,good ear carriage & dark eyed Correct dentition Lovely ‘quizzy’expression  Nice reach  

 

of neck set onto shoulders  Brisket is still developing but has ‘spring of rib’ ‘tuck up’ & short coupling.  

 

Clean angulation with well muscled second thigh let down to hocks .Slight rise on top line over loins  

 

with good tail set. On the move was ‘Dancing over’ at the back  (BP) 

 

PG(1.1) 

 

O(2.1) Pearn’s KNIGHTCOTT RUPTION BEBOP BY BONMAC/B Well constructed but would have liked  

 

a ‘tadge’ more weight.Presents a good overall picture of ratio to size  Well developed head with all  

 

refinements,correct bite.Neck arcs gently into shoulders Has clean angulations depth of brisket with  

 

spring of rib tuck up & short coupling Good top line & tail set  Movement  was also ‘dancing over’ 

 

(BOB) 

 

LEONBERGER 

 

J (3.1) Simpson’s SIMBERGER FESTIVE SPICE/B  Feminine expression & but still presents a good  

 

picture of substance & size .Head has full mask ,is clearly defined with good ear carriage & dark  

 

eyed.Correct dentition  Clean  reach of neck set into shoulders Well angulated front & rear with  

 

good top line & tail set. In good condition & Coat Moved soundly & with drive 

 

2. Chambers MELSBURY WIGHT MERMAID/B  Promising puppy (unsettled today) but  developing at  

 

just the right ratio.Head is nicely shaped . Full mask Kind  expression& correct dentition.Nice reach  

 

of neck set onto shoulders clean angulations with turn  of stifle let down onto hocks.Good top line &  

 

tail set held on the move .Sound movement. Shown in good coat & condition.(BP) 

 

PG (1)  Cleary’s MYSTICAL CHARM GINGER HEAVEN FOR BELLIESON/B (BOB) Excellent ring  

 

presence on her toes all the time that gave her (BOB) All other virtues are there with good bone &  

 

substance. Moved gracefully & soundly round the ring 

 

O (3.2) 1. Simpson’s SIMBERGER RED HOT/B  Has all major points with sound movement & in good  

 

condition & full coat just missed out today in challenge as I felt the PG was more alert & had better  

 

‘ring presence ' 

 

SIBERIAN HUSKY 

 

SPL Y (3)1.Wickers & Munday  JACALOUS CATCH ME IF YOU CAN FOR VULKASIN /B elegantly  

 

feminine but still showing strength for purposes Clean muscular  body lines . well defined  

 

head  Good ear carriage & correct bite. Loved her  keen mischievous expression.Neck is  set onto  

 

well laid shoulders with arch & sufficient thickness. Clean angulations with a nice second thigh let  

 

down onto hocks. Sufficient depth of brisket with’ tuck up’ & short coupling Good top line  & tail set  

 

held on move Moved soundly & with drive. 2. Ellis DREAMWOLVESMOULIN ROUGE B/Larger type  

 

with all qualities of 1 However didn’t like her coat today as it appeared too Full & Long giving her  

 

appearance to be more of a malamute.than  husky (BP) 3.Walker’s JACALOUS TORNADO/D 

 

O(1) 1.Wickers VUKASIN DANCE WITH DRAGONS/D Masculine  Head has all refinements with  

 

Correct bite  Well balanced  presenting a good  Overall picture of substance to size    .All major  

 

points & good ring presence  Shown in full coat & condition When settled Moved Strongly & with  

 

drive (BOB)

J(3.1) Both dogs unsettled in this class 

 

 1.Kenneally’s LOOFAHSA HUMDINGER/D   unsettled today & giving handler a hard time  

 

But Eventually calmed down so was able to assess Ok Ringcraft classes would probably help 

 

He has a well  Balanced head with  good ear carriage, expression,pigmentation ,dark eyed &  

 

correct dentition Nice fore & hindquarters with clean angulations let down onto hocks. depth of  

 

brisket with tuck up & is short coupled Holds a good top line & tail set on the move & moves soundly  

 

with drive.Coat is in  good condition. .  2. Whithyman’s AM CH HALDANE CHASIN’TAIL/D Still  

 

developing  Has all major points including good movement (when settled) but 1  had that extra ‘zush’  

 

ring presence that catches the attention. Head well defined & lovely ‘haughty  stare’Nicely 

 

 maturing fore & hindquarters with clean angulations let down to hocks  In good coat, colour still  

 

coming through .A promising youngster that I am sure will be an asset to the breed (BP &BP3)

O(3.2) Bristow’s DENZILLY SWEET DESTINY FOR AVARD ShCm/D) Presents a good overall  

 

picture of substance to size Well groomed with coat  in good condition & colour Powerful head  

 

Dark eyed good ear carriage & pigmentation Correct bite. Clean angulations let down onto hocks. 

 

Nice depth of brisket with ‘tuck up’ & short coupling Hold a good top line & tail set on the move 

  

Moved soundly & with drive (BOB) 

    

BORDER TERRIER 

J (3.1)Goddard’s AWBROOKSKY MARGOT ROBBIE/B Quite an  a achiever today but well worthy of  

 

her placings .Not only has she an excellent ring presence  but is  nicely proportioned with lovely  

 

‘otter’ head ,thick pelted ,Spannable & a nice weight.Shown in good condition Feminine Fit for  

 

purpose & was Well Handled       (BOB/BP)/RBIG/RBP) 

 

2. Small’s HOWTHWAITE GENTIL DUKE AT TILMORAY/D Thin pelted & coming up to size  I was also  

 

unable to span.Nice ‘otter’ head dark eyed & good ear carriage Correct dentition Nice reach of neck  

 

set onto shoulders Clean angulations let down onto hocks Gives a well balanced picture overall with  

 

sound movement 

 

PG (5.4)1.Wood’s BAILLIESWELL SCAPA/B Out of coat but this did not distract from her overall  

 

soundness & her being Fit for function  Nice size Lovely ‘otter’ head with a ‘quizzy’ expression  

 

correct bite neck slopes gently onto shoulders Thick pelt & spannable clean fore & hind angulation  

 

Good top line & tail set  maintained on move Moved soundly with drive. 

 

O(2.2)  

 

SBT 

J(3)1. Thomas’ SUNNYSTONE LIMITED EDITION/D Black/white nicely balance dog Head is well 

 

 defined with neat ear carriage dark eyed & correct bite.neck is well placed onto  shoulders.Fore &  

 

hind quarters are fully developed with powerful second thigh.has depth of brisket with ‘tuck’up & is  

 

short coupled. good ratio to size & shown in prime condition Moved in typical’staffie’fashion.  

 

2.Turner’s  ON THE HILL TWO AT TIDESTAFF /B  

 

A black brindle  still to reach her potential Finer type to 1  shown in good condition Was unsettled  

 

but  I was able to see  she  has all the required points Head is shaping nicely with good ear carriage  

 

,dark eye & correct dentition. She presents a good overall picture of substance to size nice  

 

angulations & second thigh  Sound movement(BP/BP4) 3. Hopkins RASPBERRY RIPPLE OF SPIRIT- 

 

STAFFS TO TRUFFLESTAFF (IMP DEU)/B 

 

PG(6.2) 1. Hopkins WINDSTAFF BLACKBERRY AT /B Black /White Bitch conformation  

 

to size & in peak condition Head is clearly defined Neat ears ,with correct bite,Nice front good  

 

spring of rib Clean angulations let down onto hocks Coat really shone all credit to her owner.Has all  

 

major points just let down by erratic movement. 2.Mitchell & Ashton’s BLOOMING LOVELY/B  

 

Presents a sound picture overall  Head is nicely developed but eyes appear a trifle large Good ear  

 

Carriage & correct bite.Body is in proportion to length with deep brisket tuck up & short  

 

coupling.On the move Dances over at the back  3.Marsland’s THUNDER OF OLYMPUS/D 

 

O(3) 1.Hopkin’s TRUFFLESTAFF PAPINASHUASH JW /D  Black dog Shown in good sound condition  

 

Lovely masculine head  Good ear carriage  dark eyed ,Correct dentition, has a keen expression 

 

 Fore & hindquarters are well developed with a  powerful second thigh Clean angulations let down  

 

onto hocks Nice depth of brisket ‘Spring of rib’ ‘ tuck’  up & short coupling  Moved soundly & in  

 

‘typical’staffie fashion. (BOB/G4) 2 Turner’s TIDESWELL MYSTICAL MAGIC /B  Feminine Quality Bitch  

 

smaller than 1 to be expected as She is of the fairer sex.She was petite but oozes Quality & presents  

 

a good overall picture of  substance to size All major points & sound movement.3.Mitchel & Ashton’s

All promising puppies who I am sure will make their mark In their breeds could have taken any of  

 

them home 

 

P(5.1)  1.Filmore’s BELLEVUE TAKE A CHANCE WITH KARAGEM (WHW/B)   As is typical of this breed  

 

excellent ‘ring presence’ even at this young age On her  feet attentive & lovely  

 

expression  Well shaped head & feathering good ear carriage dark sparkling eyes & correct  

 

bite.Conformation to size with strong bone & substance Nice angulations let down onto hocks.Well  

 

padded feet.Mainains a good top line & tail set which shows in her sound movement. BAVNSC/P 

  

2. Samson’s OPERA BOHME DES HAUTEURS DELA SOLE (IMP FR) CESKNY/B  Eye-catching  Well  

 

groomed & in good condition Head is clearly defined with sufficient eyebrows & beard giving her  

 

that distinctive look that a ‘Ceskny’ has.Still to body through but oozes quality & has ratio to size 

 

clean angulations let down onto hocks   Maintains a good top line & tail set on the move & moves  

 

soundly & with drive.Just need to settle on table. 3.Hayles OLYMPUSBULYS HATHOR (MBT/B) 

 

G(11.7) 1.Steele’s DIGADEN GET UP ANDGO (PRT/B)  Nice size Feminine Bitch White with red  

 

Markings Had good conformation to size ,spannable, with strong bone & substance.Well defined  

 

head with good ear set & dark eyed  (Lovely expression) Correct bite.Clean front & angulations 

 

Good top line & tail set Moved soundly & with drive   

 

2. Medlam’s YOSHI KAWAII(BT/D)Present a good picture of soundness to size with good bone &  

 

substance .Lacks a little on head & would have preferred  .more arc & a better ear carriage, also  

 

has a dentition fault.Clean angulations with turn of stifle let down to hocks Maintains a good top  

 

line on the move with good tail set Moved soundly & with drive  3.Rodgers JANSKI  

 

THEODORE(Ceskny/D) 

 

O(10.7) 1.Medlam’s NAEJEKIM ALDHIBAIN (BT/B) White feminine bitch with Brindle ear markings  

 

.Couldnt fault has Arc & fill small ears bang onto of  her head/neck  Correct dentition Sound front  

 

with good fore & hindquarters .Clean angulations lets down onto hocks with a nice turn of stifle 

 

Good top line & Tail Set One of the soundest movers I’ve seen for some time Well Worthy of BAVNSC 

 

A close challenge for a group placing  2. Russell & Ferrris WYEAFON PERCIVAL(AUS TER/D)   Shown  

 

in good coat & condition  Distinctive head with lovely ‘top knot’, dark eyed Neat ears & correct bite.   

 

Liked hid ‘keen’ expression conformation to size with sound bone & substance with sufficient  

 

feathering on front legs Nice front, depth of  chest  with ’ Spring of rib &  flank. Clean angulations  

 

with Turn of stifle let down onto hocks.Maintains a level top line & good tail set on the move &  

 

moved soundly with drive.3.Waldens THOZOW GREAT EXPECTATIONS FOR TATAMOUNT ShCm

TERRIER GROUP 

 

FOX TERRIER/SMOOTH/B  The moment she entered the ring she caught the eye ‘what fantastic ring  

 

presence’,In good coat & condition ,groomed to perfection &  keen expression  Quite the ‘lady  

 

about town’Head was well defined with stop good ear carriage,dark eyed & correct bite.nice reach  

 

of neck set onto a good lay of shoulder.Clean angulations  let down onto hocks .Holds a good  

 

top line & tail set on the move & moved soundly & with drive around the ring Well worthy of G1 & I  

 

was thrilled to hear later that she had also been awarded Best in Show.
