Afghan Hounds

My thanks to the Committee for their kind invitation to judge and their hospitality, also to the Midland Afghan Hound Club for sponsoring my classes and donating the lovely rosettes for the Best of breed and Best Puppy. I had a lovely day, and I am very grateful to the exhibitors for allowing me the honour of their entries.

Puppy (1) 1. Mullen’s El Roalito Keep Smiling (Imp Deu). 8 1/2 month black/tan dog refined head, scissor bite, Dark almond shaped eye, low set ears, fair length of neck and lay of shoulder, good length of upper arm, good spring of rib and depth of chest, balanced front and rear angulation, low hocks, moved well, Best Puppy

Junior (3) 1. Lancashire & O’Donnell’s Drishaun Say She Ain’t Gazon (AI) Shaded masked Pale Gold, feminine bitch with a nice head and triangular dark eye, correct scissor bite, good underjaw and chiselled foreface , low set ears, with a good length of neck leading into a well laid shoulder, Good depth of Brisket and spring of rib, well covered with prominent hip bones and a good fallaway, Well angulated rear quarters, moved soundly, freely and with style holding her topline well on the move and standing, Her tail is well set and she carries it well, unfortunately she does not have a ring on the end due to an injury as a puppy, but her overall conformation more than made up for that. Best of breed and Hound Group 1. Afterwards I was told that this gave her the last points for her JW Congratulations to her owners.

2. Rhodes & Sheverneva’s Shadowfax Threepenny Opera, Cream Domino bitch, feminine, nice head and dark eye, lovely overall shape, good level topline and prominent hip bones, well set ring tail, fair lay of shoulder and length of upper arm, moved well, preferred the shoulder placement, body and front extension of 1.

3. Lancashire & O’Donnell’s Drishaun Pictures Of Lily

Yearling (2) 1. Lancashire & O’Donnell’s Drishaun Star Among Lilies, Masculine brindle dog, nice head, dark eye, correct bite, good length of neck and layback of shoulder, good length of upper arm, Level topline, with a good fallaway, well set ring tail, well balanced and sound on the move, showed well.

2. Lancashire & O’Donnell’s Drishaun Consider The Lily, Lovely feminine brindle bitch, nice head, dark eye, good length of neck, well laid shoulder with a good length of upper arm, good depth of chest and spring of rib, level topline, ring tail, not happy today in this hall and small ring.

Graduate (2) 1. Lancashire & O’Donnell’s Drishaun Say She Ain’t Gazon (AI) (Winner of Junior)

2. Lancashire & O’Donnell’s Drishaun Star Among Lilies (winner of Yearling)

Postgraduate D/B (2) 1. Lancashire & O’Donnell’s Drishaun Pictures Of Lily, This lovely masculine shaded masked gold dog was my find of the day, such a well-made dog, just so very sad he wouldn’t move and show today. Which is why he was placed 3rd in Junior class and I preferred his conformation to my second place in this class. Well balanced in outline, Lovely shape and substance, beautiful head, correct scissor bite, lovely dark triangular aye, strong underjaw, chiselling on his foreface, head well balanced with a prominent occiput. Good length of neck and a lovely layback of shoulder, good length of upper arm, excellent depth of brisket and spring of rib, strong loin, level topline with a correct fallaway and well-set ring tail, well angulated rear quarters, I wish his owners luck with him.

2. Lancashire & O’Donnell’s Drishaun Consider The Lily (2nd in Yearling)

Open D/B (5,1abs) 1. Bloor’s Pashtari Lord Byron, Masculine black dog, beautifully presented, nice head, dark eye, nice lay of shoulder and length of upper arm, good depth of chest and spring of rib, well angulated front and rear, ring tail, moved and showed well, the ring was in my opinion not big enough for the breed and getting the dogs moving well in such a small space was a challenge. Considered him for BOB but preferred the outline and balance of my Junior winner.

2. Collett’s Laavas Opportunity Network ShCM, Lovely, beautifully presented and well-handled feminine shaded masked gold bitch, Nice head and dark eye, correct bite, nice shoulder placement and length of upper arm, good depth of chest and excellent spring of rib, good fallaway, ring tail. Really liked her but unfortunately, she didn’t hold her topline as well as I would have liked today.

3. Hayes’ Altside Henrietta Musgrove at Saksfifth

4. Milligan-Bott & Bott’s Thendara Love It Like That JW

Veteran D/B (2) 1. Bryla & Zaleski’s Gezancol Dizzy Bit, 7-year-old B/M Gold bitch, balanced outline, feminine head, dark eye, low set ears, good length of neck, fair depth of chest, would like a bit more width to her and a bit more body, good front and rear angulation, ring tail, moved well.

2. Hayes’ Valkor She’s Got The Look Of Saksfifth, almost 10 years old and still in good coat, brindle bitch, good depth of chest and good spring of rib, nicely presented, showed well and enjoyed her day out.
