I was honoured to be invited to judge BIS at your friendly show & thank the Committee, my steward for their hard work and the other judges for sending through some super examples of their breeds.

What a lovely line up but for me the Cocker bitch shone out today

BIS Cocker Spaniel, West’s Sheigra Simply A Star JW, and what a star she is, sturdy and balanced but feminine throughout, presented to perfection in full coat. Good bone & substance. Lovely shaped head with good flews, correct stop & dark kind eye giving her a soft but keen expression. Well set ears. Clean in throat strong neck and correct shoulders. Chest area well developed with good spring of rib and depth of brisket, level topline which she kept on the move showing strength in her loin. Covered the ground with a sound happy look at me action.

Res BIS Irish setter, Stevenson’s Lochlorien True Detective is Andley, lovely bitch with plenty of breed quality & type. Head long & lean with dark eye and kind expression, ears set low defining her head beautifully. Muscular arched neck flowing into well laid shoulders, good for bone , plenty of lung room in her chest, deep in ribs & strength in her loin, correct width to her hind quarters with good bend of stifle, giving her a strong free driving movement. In lovely coat.

BIS 3 Welsh Springer Spaniel, Brown’s Bowdonia Ozzie. Nothing over done about this boy, Correct in head and expression muscular neck into well developed shoulders, good depth & body proportions, strong hind quarters, giving him a balanced overview, in good coat & moved soundly with power.

BIS 4 Hungarian Vizsla, Bradley’s Sh Ch Vizslanya Vivmany By Highforce JWShCmEx, beautifully made bitch lovely head with plenty of work and a keen noble expression. Neck clean & strong into correct laid muscular shoulders, short & level in back, good spring in ribs correct proportions to her body, well developed in the thigh area short in hocks allowing her to move freely & soundly fore & aft.

Labrador Retriever, Coode’s Warringah’s The Bluff, This black dog took my eye & didn’t disappoint, correct proportions throughout with a pleasing head & expression, well off for bone, balanced angulation front & back, strong in topline, moved so freely around the ring it was a joy to see in one so young. In good coat, I am sure he will go places !

Welsh Springer Spaniel , Cocking & Barnaby’s Bushwacker Happy Gilmore at Ruskinite, A dog with substance, well off for bone on well padded feet, head of correct proportions defined stop, chiselling developing nicely. Body strong & deep with good spring of rib, correct in rear angulation with plenty of 2nd thigh, moved well, off short strong hocks giving him drive. In good coat.

3rd English Springer Spaniel, Allen & Bott Allenie’s Rewrite The Stars, Another little star in the making, nothing over done about her, balanced in outline & feminine in head with a soft expression, strong neck into well placed shoulders, moderate in body & hind angulation, moved out freely & soundly, in good coat.

4th Spanish Water Dog, Northard’s Oh Sancha Vom Hause Kristo (Imp Fra) B/w bitch not overly large with substance and a dense tight coat, liked her head shape and kind expression, short neck and correct front, strong level topline that she kept when moving out well.

1st Brittany, Cocking/Barnaby, Bonapartist Odette at Ruskinite, pleasing head with correct plains and cheeky expression, plenty of substance straight front with good tight feet, well laid shoulders deep in chest & cobby in body, lovely to see such muscle development which gave to strong firm movement, just tended to crab a little today.

1st Brittany, Tully’s Sh Ch Highclare Flaming Nora, loved her balance and breed type, head a little longer in foreface than the Grad winner but didn’t detract. Very keen in expression & eye. Strong neck into well set shoulders, short in back strong in loin, well developed rear with great muscle tone throughout , moved out soundly with purpose. Best AVNSC

1st Braque D Auvergne, Sladden’s Khyannes Villette At Canemamans (imp Hun) Showing a little shyness today but settled more once moved. Lovely body shape, pleasing head with a kind eye , good in shoulders well let down elbows allowing good front extension on the move, short coupled with a good bend of stifle, moved out well. B imp Reg

2nd Korthals Griffon, Sumner’s Nantiderri Myrtle, Pleasing head & eye good depth and substance, good coat. A little broad in front assembly and feet could be tighter, moved ok.

1st Cocker Spaniel, West’s Sheigra Starstruck JW, amazing for his 12yrs, lovely black gleaming coat balanced throughout with a handsome head & soft expression, correct angles fore & aft , nice shape well padded feet, he enjoyed showing them all how to move, a credit to his breeder/handler

2nd B/W Pointer, Watkins/Davies Sh Ch Hurwyn Law N Order JW, 7yrs, masculine head with correct definition, dark eye & pleasing expression. Correct front assembly on tight well arched feet, good shoulder placement, deep brisket with ribs well back, strong muscular hind quarters strong short hocks, showing plenty of drive on the move.

3rd Labrador Retriever Harvey-Major/Bambrook, Linjor Sessile Oak At Ravoakar ShCM.

1st Brittany, Tully’s Sh Ch Highclare Flaming Nora

2nd Gordon Setter, Inger/Glover’s Liric Blu Magic, Pleasing balanced head with correct plains & chiselling , lovely dark eye, kind expression, good front with correct flat bone and tight feet, strong neck into nice shoulder assembly which all flowed into her balanced body, deep in well sprung ribs, correct topline, good colour coat & condition , moved well.

Junior (12-6)

1st Labrador Retriever King’s Linthwaite Saffron, strong and feminine in head, good clean front, shoulders well back ,nice width to her chest & body with a short strong back without fattiness. Good rear assembly and strong tail , moved true fore & aft.

2nd NSDTR, Westwood’s Eusanit Hot Totty, correct wedge head with a cheeky expression, clean neck, straight in front, nicely sloping shoulders, short in back with a good topline, well muscled throughout, good texture to her sufficient coat, moved well.

3rd Golden Retriever, Hazelton’s Cailloch Sitka

Yearling (8-2)

1st HV Hardcastle /Bradley Vizslanya Sziena JW, Initially she wasn’t happy in an earlier class but soon recovered to win this one, lovely colour, sweetest of heads with intelligent look, loved her balance and tone, good bone throughout, lovely tight feet, complementing fore & aft angulation, moved with drive.

2nd NSDTR, Westwood’s Eusanit Hot Totty

3rd Golden Retriever, Hazelton’s Cailloch Sitka

Post Grad (10-6)

1st WSS, Waller’s Isfryn Lady Godiva At Fireglow, A well muscled bitch with good proportions to her sweet head and body, giving a pleasing outline. Lovely straight front and correct behind making her a very sound mover.

2nd GSP Hayne’s Graygees Skyhawk in Rebeldye, not an overly large bitch with a well proportioned head and soft expression, correct arch to her neck into well placed shoulders, good depth and width to her body with a firm back, moved out well.

3rd WSS, Bennett’s Helgen Romeo The Lover

1st GSP Hayne’s , A well matched pair moving as one with their handler, intent on her every move.

2nd Pointer, Oliver’s again well matched in type and moving with their handler a lovely sight to see

Field Trial (3-1)

1st WSS Smith’s Isfryn Peeping Tom JW, lovely outline & well off for bone with a masculine head, good balance to his angulation , in excellent tone shown by his correct movement. In good coat considering this class.

2nd Gordon setter, Hallidays Yennadon Reiss, pleasing outline, well off for correct flat bone, good colour, enough coat, good angles fore & aft, lovely tight feet moved out well head a little broad in skull for me.
