Basenji Club Of Great Britain

I’d like to thank the committee for inviting me to judge this lovely breed, albeit in such sad circumstances. Numbers were not plentiful, but there was plenty of quality.

Puppy Dog (3,1 Abs)

What a class to start my day, 2 very exciting prospects who I am sure will change places many a time.

1st. Hardy & Hallam’s – Tokaji Nashville Rebel. R/W boy of 11 months who was trying his upmost best to throw it all away. He has a beautiful head, eye & expression, crested neck into clean shoulder, straight front, level topline, good underline & he is well ribbed back to strong loin. He has well made & muscled hindquarters with well let down hocks. Movement was sound & true & he presented a very good outline, just at the last moment he pulled himself together on the stack & showed what he was all about. I am sure his future will be very bright. BD, BPD, BIS & BPIS.

2nd. Legget’s – Swanwite Take A Chance On Me. Quality R/W boy of 11 months, He too has an excellent, eye & expression & is perhaps just that little more masculine at this stage than the winner. He has a super neck & shoulder, level topline, good tailset & depth of chest, and he too was shown in excellent muscletone & conditioning. True out & back with a lovely stride, I wish he was a little less exuberant & would allow his clever handler to slow him down a touch. Stacked he was a picture, but he can tend to stuff his excellent neck into his shoulder which ultimately cost him the class win RBD, RBPD, RBIS & RBPIS.

Junior Dog (1,1 Abs)

Limit Dog (3,1 Abs)

1st. Casentieri’s – Adebankes King Kole (Imp Rus). B/W boy with a lovely outline. Good head & Expression but appeared to be a little "cheeky" & perhaps lacking a little wrinkle. Excellent neck, shoulder & front, strong, level topline, good tailset, good underline & depth of chest. His quarters were very well muscled & he moved out freely with a good stride.

2nd. Addis’ – Savannastorm Born To Be Wild. Pleasing R/W boy with a lovely dark eye & good wrinkle. He has a good neck & straight front, he does tend to push himself forward though on the stack which detracts from the overall picture. Level topline, a touch long in loin, would prefer a better set of tail. Excellent muscletone, he moved out well.

Open Dog (1,0 Abs)

1st. Addis’ – Savannastorm Natures Child. Another R/W boy, he has good wrinkle & a pleasing head & expression. Pleasing neck & shoulder, straight front but I would prefer neater feet. Level topline, good depth of chest, spring of rib, well made & muscled quarters & Ok tailset. He moved out well & was sound fore & aft.

Special Bred by Exhibitor Dog (2,0 Abs)

1st. Swanwite Take A Chance On Me.

2nd. Addis’ – Savannastorm Dragon Lord. Litter brother to the Open winner & so many remarks apply. He too has a pleasing head & expression, good front & fill in of chest. Good neck & shoulder, level topline & well-made hindquarters. When he put his mind to it he moved out well.

Veteran Bitch (1,0 Abs)

1st. Hardy & Hallam’s – Ch. Tokaji California Dreaming. Beautiful R/W girl of 9 years. She has a lovely square outline, with good depth of chest, well sprung ribcage & is well ribbed back to short strong loin. Level topline, excellent tailset with good curl, lovely quarters & well let down hocks. He coat & conditioning was first class & she moved soundly with a powerful stride. On finding out who this classy lady was I can now see why she has done the winning she has, thank you for allowing me the opportunity to judge such a lovely lady. BB & BOS.

Puppy Bitch (2,1 Abs)

1st. Hudson’s – Tokaji Moon Over Miami with Mutoko. Tri girl of 11 months she has the most beautiful head & exquisite eye. Superb neck, shoulder, front & feet although she could perhaps be a little stronger through the pastern, I hope this will come with age & exercise. She has a good depth of chest, spring of rib & compact loin, her turn of stifle is good & her hocks well let down. Today she was feeling the cold & wasn't holding her topline as well as I know she can, she still presented a lovely picture & moved out well with a free flowing stride. RBB.

Junior Bitch (1,1 Abs)

Post Grad Bitch (1,0 Abs)

1st .Moffat’s - Tokaji Klassic Trilbea. Tri girl with a pretty head & dark eye, using her ears well. She has a pleasing neck & shoulder, straight well boned front & neat feet, good body shape & shown in gleaming condition. She is a right little pickle on the move, but with a little more practice she will get there as the glimpses of movement I got were good. Good luck to you both.

1st. Tokaji Moon Over Miami with Mutoko.

Brace (1,0 Abs)

1st. Miss J Addis. Well matched pair of brothers, both so similar in type, moving out well with a good stride

Team (1,0 Abs)

1st. Miss J Addis. How do you win a trio class, take a very well matched brace & add another pea in the pod brother! It really is uncanny how similar these 3 boys are, they moved out well with enthusiasm & a little bit of cheek!
