Sunderland & District Canine Society Premier Open Show

21st April 2019

Dalmatians

I would very much like to thank the committee for inviting me to judge at their first premier open show. The hospitality was lovely, we were very well looked after. Thank you to my lovely efficient steward who was very helpful. Also thank you to all of the exhibitors who entered.

J (4, 0) 1. Mather’s Taliory Saddleside Legend. 12 month black dog. Masculine head with dark eyes and correct bite. Well broken, correctly set on ears. Ample chest, good topline and well set on tail. He is very well muscled, a real masculine dog, he has excellent cat feet. He excelled on the move, flowing around with ring with power & drive and ultimately this won him the class. Unfortunately today his coat wasn’t looking its best but his other attributes outweighed this.

2. Chance & Dodd’s Dotlun Maid of Orleans. 8 month old liver bitch. For such a young dog, she was very well schooled and attentive to her handler. She has a very feminine head with lovely amber eyes, a correct bite, her ears are well set on her head giving her a curious expression. She has a good strong neck leading to a lovely deep chest. She has a good topline, a well set tail and her body is muscling up nicely. I really liked her lovely rich liver spotting. She moved around the ring with ease looking much more mature than her tender 8 months. Like 1 she also wasn’t wearing her best coat today but again I could forgive this as there is so much else to like about her. Happy to award her Best Puppy in Breed and thrilled to watch her go on to get Puppy Group 3.

3. Noble’s Ruebedu Sheik Yerbouti.

L (3, 1) 1. Lamb’s Dalpetro Diamond 2 year old black bitch. I have judged this bitch before and she is such an eye catching girl. Gorgeous feminine head, correct dark eye. Correctly set on well broken ears which give her a mischievous expression, correct bite, excellent feminine neck, excellent deep chest, well-muscled body, correct topline and well set on, constantly wagging tail. She has a sparkling white coat and excellent pigmentation. Today on the move she was really made her handler work hard. I saw enough to give her the class.  Reserve Best of Breed.

2. Noble’s Shulune Celtic Snapdragon of Ruebedu 4 year old liver bitch. A larger bitch than one but still very feminine. Pretty head with dark amber eyes, well broken ears set well on giving her a gentle expression. Correct bite, good neck, excellent deep chest & forequarters. Good feet. Excellent crisp white coat with rich liver spotting. On the move she was very steady and even.

3. Mather’s Shulune Dragon Ryder of Taliory.

O (2, 1) 1. Vockings & Smethurst Portunes Green Day 6 year old liver dog. I have admired this dog for a long time and this is the second time I have had the opportunity to have my hands on him, the first being at my breed assessment 2 years ago. Those 2 years have just added to this dogs quality. He has a strong masculine head, with such a soft expression, a correct bite and well broken ears that are correctly set on his head. He has a muscular neck leading down to a deep ample chest and powerful forequarters. He has a well-muscled body and is at the perfect weight. He has a good topline, a well set on tail that he wagged constantly. His coat was crisp white with lovely rich liver spotting. His movement was the best of the day, he has that carriage dog movement that I am looking for. He put his head down and moved around the ring with effortless powerful strides. A really well put together dog, the full package.  I was delighted to award him Best of Breed and see him get shortlisted in the large group.
