Derbyshire County Show Open Dog Show

23rd June 2019

Dalmatians

Thank you to the committee for inviting me to judge at their show. The ring that we were originally allocated was rather unsuitable for a moving breed due so I am grateful to them for moving us to another ring.  Thank you to my lovely steward who, despite being very new to stewarding and quite nervous, did a fantastic job.  Lastly, thank you to all of the exhibitors who entered, it was a pleasure to go over your dogs, a lot of who I had only seen from ring side previously.

P(3,0) 1. Sampson’s Dalstorm Golden Guinea. Just 6 month old black dog. This boy caught my eye as soon as he entered the ring. Lovely masculine head, correct dark eye, ears well set on. Correct bite, good neck, fabulous deep chest, straight foreleg with strong round bone. Well bodied with straight topline and well set on tail, good turn of stifle and excellent cat feet. This boy excels on the move, for a 6 month old puppy his movement is very together, he moved with power and drive. He really is the whole package, I look forward to watching his career. BPIB.

2. Haywood-Ridgway’s Luccombe Strawberry Fizz. 11 month old black bitch. Pretty feminine head with correct dark eye, well set on broken ears, correct bite. Nicely arched neck, ample chest, level topline leading to a well set on tail. Excellent cat feet. Lovely pigment. She was a bit unsettled on the move initially but settled to show good drive.

3. Kembrey’s O’Malley Des Dalmats De La Pierre Sacree at Dalmark NAF

J(0)

PG(4,3)1. Finlay’s Dalfin Actual Fact. 20 month old black dog. I have judged this boy before when he was just 6 months and am pleased to see that he has matured into a really lovely dog. He has a lovely masculine head, gorgeous dark eyes, his ears are well broken, well set on which give him a lovely soft expression. He has a correct bite, straight forelegs with plenty of round bone, a deep chest and a good topline. He has a well-muscled body and a correct turn of stifle. His coat was bright white and he was in fabulous overall condition. Another who excels on the move, he moves with power and drive, exhibiting correct movement fore and aft, he would look very at home behind a carriage. BOB and very happy to see him get awarded Group 2.

O(7,4)1. Cooper’s Charmindals Pussy Galore. 5 year old black bitch. Pretty, very feminine head, correct dark eye, well set on, well broken ears. Correct bite, nicely arched neck, straight forelegs with good round bone. Powerful, well-muscled body, correct rear angles, excellent cat feet. Her tail is well set on and she has a lovely white coat. She is a very happy girl and really make her handler work hard. After she settled she exhibited correct powerful movement. RBOB.

2. Sampson’s Dalstorm Black Orchid ShCM. 7 year old black bitch. A bitch I have judged before and dam to my BP. This bitch has the most beautiful head, correct dark eyes, well set on ears which frame her ghost face giving her such a feminine expression. She has a correct mouth, a nicely arched neck, ample chest, correct rear angles and good cat feet. Her tail is well set on and her coat was in good condition. She has correct rhythmic movement but didn’t quite have the drive of 1.

3. Kembrey’s Dalmark The Crème de Cassis
