Many thanks to the society and the hard working committee for the invitation to judge; it was a truly super day. Thanks also to my efficient steward.

AFGHAN HOUND

G (4,2) 1. Smith’s Bryelis In Vogue. 18 month old brindle bitch of super proportions. Elegant, but powerful head with dark eye. Super length of neck to well-laid back shoulders. Best upper-arm of all the Afghans I judged today with matching angles front and back. This was evident on the move; she moved true coming and going whilst with high order in profile. She carried her head proudly and topline stayed true and level whilst moving. BOB. 2. Lancashire & O’Donnell’s Drishaun Star Among Lilies JW. Very elegant and distinguished 18 month brindle male. Presented beautifully portraying a super picture when stood. Excellent balanced head of super proportions and strength of jaw. Great texture of coat and in super condition. Powerful hindquarters of good length and bend of stifle. Moved well front and back. O (3,1) 1. Drishaun Consider the Lily JW. Litter sister to 2nd in graduate. Pleasing brindle bitch with a full silky textured coat. Lovely lay back of shoulder and tight elbows close to her ribs. Straight legs with good bone. Well sprung rib and depth of chest. Moved enthusiastically covering good ground. Very sound front and back.

BEAGLE

P (3,0) 1. Brown’s Vanitonia Briony. Brightly marked 8 month old tri bitch. Presents a lovely balanced picture on the stack. Good mouth and well flewed. Nicely angulated front and back with a short loin. Stern carried well and topline held perfectly on the move. Covers ample ground in profile. Lots of potential in this young puppy and hope she matures on well especially in her quarters. BP & RBOB. 2. Alexander’s Bethnor Iona. Another quality puppy with the most fabulous of heads. Ultra feminine and kind expressive dark eye. The best of neck and shoulders which led to her super sound front movement. She shined with confidence today, everything you would want to see in such a young puppy of 6 months starting out on her show career. 3. Jones’ Clairdale Evelyn. J (2,1) 1. Brown’s Vanitonia Briony. 1st in Puppy. PG (5,2) 1. Hazard’s Mailcom Sahara. Elegant t/w bitch with a pretty feminine head and super leathers. She has such lovely long neck leading to well laid back shoulders and good return of upper arm. Nicely muscled hind quarters and hocks well let down. Went so well with her young handler today especially in the class, but would benefit from not being strung up too tightly as she has the tendency to lose her movement. Would also prefer to see a smidge more weight on this girl today. 2. Macdonlad & Grey’s Davricard Hopscotch of Delsia. Lovely balanced head with a dark eye and graceful leathers. Good reach of neck leading to level topline. Great spring of rib and well ribbed back. In super muscled condition even if carrying a little excess weight. Would have preferred to see a little more enthusiasm on the go around. Very clean fore and aft. O (6,3) Jones’ Newlin Preston to Clairdale. Presented to the highest order, with free-stack to die for. His masculine head is so typical without conveying any coarseness and free from frown and wrinkle. Excellent pigment and well placed leathers. Nicely angulated front and back with excellent muscle tone. Perfect set tail which her carried well on the move. Very enthusiastic on the move covering plenty of ground. A lovely quality beagle! BOB & very pleased to see him awarded G1 under Claire Hindley (Birkhall). 2. Dalgarno’s Eardley Shirley Knott avec Vencharno. Super dark tri bitch with the darkest of pigment and eye; melting expression and graceful leathers. A nicely reaching neck and tight elbows. Shown in great condition. Moved out well covering the ground with verve.

YKC HANDLING

All handlers were a credit today!

6-11 Years (16,7) 1. Georgia Olivia Maskell. Well presented handler who managed her charge with ease. Her experience shone through and demonstrated with her clean lines and excellent attentive nature throughout the whole class never dropping her game. 2. Kate Read. Another who was well presented and kept her eye on the proceedings at all times. Quickest to present her dog. Just needs to watch her lines and utilise the whole ring.

12-17 Years (7,2) 1. Chloe Cumberland. Best of footwork today; execution of her pattern work from the set off was brilliantly managed. She never faulted in her set ups or her shadowing. What a delight she was. 2. Abby Davison. Another sympathetic handler who demonstrated her skills well. Great pattern work but just needs to tighten her corners.

18-24 Years (4,0) 1. Brooke Charlotte Patterson. A controlled handler at all times who’s dog just never faulted. Great team who were both at one with each other. Perfect lines and set ups were timely. Never presented to far away or too close. Moved her dog with great care and pace. Great to watch. 2. Katie Louise Robson. Another high quality handler of similar merit to 1. I was splitting hairs between these two. My only consideration to give 2nd here was to be picky about her control over the stacking of her dog. The polishing of the stack here would surely enable her to take top honours in the future.

ADULT HANDLING

18-50 Years (9,2) 1. Angela Mason. A competent and accomplished handler of the highest order. She really shone for me today; executing her pattern work with ease and skill. Only adult handler to start her pattern work from in front of me. Can’t fault her today. Best Adult Handler. 2. Rachel Cumberland. A super handler who was in the pervious YYC class. Handling her own dog here instead, and was so much more accomplished in this duo. Completely different performance; from her neater patter work to her cleaner lines.

50 Years & Over (4,1) 1. Paul Huyton. Well paced and at one with his charge. Great combination who managed the patter work well. Just not as attentive as Angela in the challenge for best handler. Thrilled to see him perform so well considering his first attempt with handling. I hope he continues to with his natural ability here. 2. Patricia Rogerson. Not a bad attempt for her first go at handling. Remember to shadow the judge at all times and take control of the stack in a timely manner.
