East Anglian Gundog Society

East Anglian Gundog Society Open Show 7.4.2019 Judge: Sally Leslie (Risdene) Many thanks to the hardworking Committee of this Society who provided a proper and clearly enjoyable show for their exhibitors and also to my various capable stewards. An excellent countryside venue gave every opportunity for exhibits to show off their paces and it was a pity that it was a decidedly chilly day for the open aspect but I was delighted at the number and quality of the gundogs who stayed for the variety classes and Best in Show and Best Puppy challenges.

Best in Show German Shorthaired Pointer Brown’s Graygees Gigolo JW Beautifully balanced individual, loved the quality of his head and expression, exemplifies the breed standard, in super fit condition, and with great presence, he could not be denied. Was so pleased to hear subsequently that he had been plying his craft only the day before, a class act. RBIS Pointer Norbury & Adams’ Medogold Bamalam at Heartbury JW ShCM really used the excellent ring space to advantage and moved like she should, feminine and very pleasing in head make and shape with desirable body lines from nose to tail, unlucky to meet winner today Group 3 Golden Retriever Hush’s Benrowan Esprit true to type, pretty headed exhibit with kindly expression, lovely neck and shoulders, shapely all through and moved freely Group 4 Lagotto Romagnolo Williams & Carless’ Rumolboy’s Alban Eilir nice, well coated example exhibiting required strength throughout without being overdone, sound, efficient gait.

Best Puppy in Show American Cocker Spaniel Jennings & Hume’s Legend N Ecclesiates International Warrior I was conscious the puppies had experienced a long, cold day but this charmer had all the savoir faire of an old hand, very much appealed for head pattern, proportions and correct angulation, well boned and as good moving as his construction indicated he would be RBPIS Italian Spinone Sharp’s Affilato All About Me and indeed it very nearly was, babyish as one would expect but beautifully made with good height to length ratios, feminine and good in skull, looked at me just right, positive and correct mover for one so young, should have a bright future Group 3 Golden Retriever Porter’s Shearstone Riff Raff another very promising youngster with much to like, pleasing head and expression, good in body and and carries herself well Group 4 Chesapeake Bay Retriever Mahon, Hunns & Newton’s Arnac Bay Huron I liked this typical example who surely has the potential to do well, good for make and shape and well conditioned
