LABRADOR RETRIEVERS

Thank you to the committee for the invitation to judge Labradors as a replacement judge for Carol Henry, who I hope makes a speedy recovery. Thank you also for your hospitality. Finally, many thanks to the exhibitors for making my first time judging ‘north of the border’ such an enjoyable experience!

PUPPY (8 entries, 3 absentees)

A lovely class! 1st - Campbell’s Binnaig Benavie; 7.5 month yellow male. Beautiful head with melting expression. Correct front with well laid back shoulders. Level topline leading to a well set tail. Powerful rear assembly which he used to his advantage on the move. Good bone throughout and standing on tight neat feet. Couldn’t take my eyes off him and pushed hard for BOB. Good luck with this quality puppy who I am sure will go to the top! BPIB

2nd - Brown’s Ramsayville Revolver; 9 month old black male shown in excellent condition and fabulous coat. Plenty of size, short coupled with good depth of body. Correct angulations front and rear, level topline and correct tailset. Moved very well. Another quality puppy

3rd - Lewis’ Crammondkirk’s Yo Yo

JUNIOR (5 entries, 2 absentees)

1st - Maclean’s Afinmore Amable; a clear winner in the class. 12 month old chocolate bitch with clean lines and well proportioned throughout. Correct shoulder placement, level topline and well developed rear. Moved with power and drive

2nd - Fairgrieve’s Alkaruss Simply The Best; 13 month old pale yellow bitch with a very feminine head and sweet expression. Correct angulations front and rear. Would prefer slightly more bone and substance throughout. Moved ok

3rd - Lennox & Morgan’s Wilenmory Diamond Dreams

GRADUATE (4 entries, 1 absentee)

1st - Fairgrieve’s Alkaruss Something Special; yellow bitch, litter-sister of 2 in Junior and definitely the better of the two. Moderate head with lovely expression. Correct angulations front and rear with a good lay back of shoulder and lovely reach of neck. In good coat with a well set tail and neat feet. Moved well

2nd - Campbell’s Binnaig Black On Blonds; neat and compact black bitch with a lovely head and expression. Correct front and shoulder placement, level topline and short coupled. Strong second thigh and good turn of stifle. Plenty of coat of correct texture and a well set otter tail. Moved very well

3rd - Harcus’ Binnaig Braedon

POST GRADUATE (4 entries, 3 absentees)

1st - Maclean’s Afinmore Absolut; 2 year old black male. Another clean lined dog from this kennel. Correct front and rear angulation with level topline. Moderate throughout, nothing overdone, standing on neat feet. Moved well and with drive

LIMIT (4 entries, 2 absentees)

1st - Harcus’ Rocheby Top'o The Morning; eye catching yellow male, full of ring presence. Masculine head with a kind expression that can’t fail to make you smile. Correct angulations front and rear, correct shoulder placement and firm level topline. Powerful rear with plenty of second thigh and well let down hocks. Ample bone throughout, in good coat with a well set otter tail. Clean flowing movement with power and drive. BOB

2nd - Lennox & Morgan’s Wilenmory Prince Of Thieves; excitable yellow male with correct front, well developed strong rear and shown in fit hard condition with a good coat. Would prefer a slightly more level topline. Moved well when settled

OPEN (4 entries, 1 absentee)

1st - Park’s Ramsayville Rhubarb Rock At Kinchyle; yellow bitch, powerful and short coupled. Appealing head with lovely expression. Well laid back shoulders and correct angulations front and rear. Good reach of neck, level topline leading to a well set tail. Although a tad unsettled she moved very well

3rd - Auld & Holliday’s Ramsayville Ria At Farbrae JW
