Thank you to the committee for the invitation to judge the Labrador classes sponsored by Midland Counties Labrador Retriever Club

PUPPY (10 entries, 1 absentee)

1st - Hopkinson’s Rocheby String Of Pearls; absolutely beautiful yellow bitch, she epitomises everything you would look for in a Labrador. Correct angulation front and rear with well laid back shoulders. Moderate, feminine head with the most gentle expression. Excellent reach of neck, level top line leading to a correctly set otter tail. Moved with reach and drive assisted by a strong and powerful rear assembly with plenty of second thigh and low hocks. Shown in excellent coat and condition. I am sure this puppy has a bright future ahead of her! BOB, BPIB, PG4

2nd - Hopkinson’s Rocheby Old Timer; another very promising puppy from this kennel. Strong yellow male full of quality. Everything in proportion, well sprung barrelled ribs, short coupled, ample bone, standing on neat feet. Correct front angulation and a well developed rear with low hocks. Moved well

3rd - Young’s Potterspiney Silas

JUNIOR (4 entries, 1 absentee)

1st - Lesley’s Sleddarwood Sako Flyer Over Steeleigh; clear winner in this class. 11 month old yellow male with plenty of size. In excellent coat and condition. Correct front angulation and well placed shoulders. Good reach of neck and level topline. Moved well when settled, covering ground making use of his ample length of leg

2nd - Konury’s Benrevic Peneven; 16 month old black male. Pleasing head and correct front assembly. In good coat, would prefer more bone and substance throughout. Very nervous and unsettled, difficult to assess movement

3rd - Deakin’s Desueki Peggysues Dreamgirl

YEARLING (2 entries, 1 absentee)

1st - Wilson’s Stelainros Westpoint; strongly built black male with excellent bone and substance. Correct front, level topline, plenty of second thigh and well let down hocks. In hard condition with an abundance of coat and a happy otter tail. Moved well

POST GRADUATE (5 entries, 1 absentee)

1st - Rowe’s Rocheby Mimosa At Rochevale; very pretty yellow bitch, classic style. Correct angulation front and rear, short coupled and good depth of body. Very appealing head and expression. Good reach of neck, level topline and correct tailset. Well developed rear with low hocks. Plenty of bone and neat feet. Moved very well. RBOB

2nd - Coddington & Shortland’s Rocheby Silhouette To Genisval; compact yellow bitch with a lovely head and expression. Correct front, short coupled and well boned. Very attentive to her handler. Moved well

3rd - Young’s Potterspiney Angel Delight

OPEN (4 entries, 2 absentees)

Very close decision in this class. 1st - Lesley’s Aramis Britannica Archipelago At Steeleigh; very lively black male with a lovely head and expression. In excellent coat and condition and has plenty of bone and substance. Correct front with well placed shoulders leading to a level topline flowing beautifully on to a correctly set otter tail. Has a good length of leg and neat feet. Moved well

2nd - Young’s Potterspiney Richochet; eye-catching strong yellow male with a masculine head and kind expression. Correct front, firm and level topline which he held both standing and on the move. Well developed rear, strong second thigh and low hocks. Plenty of bone and well muscled throughout. Very unlucky to come up against 1 today, would just prefer a slightly longer reach of neck. Shown in good coat and excellent condition, at one with his young handler. Moved very well
