STOURBRIDGE & DISTRICT CANINE SOCIETY – Open Show Held on: Friday 27th DECEMBER 2019

I was very pleased to be invited to judge at this well-run show. I had the honour of Judging Finnish Lapphund and Collie (Rough). The ring was of a good size and all exhibits were shown in a good clean condition. Many thanks to my stewards for keeping the ring tidy and the exhibits for the entry. It was a pleasure to meet the new Secretary and I wish him and the committee well for the future.

FINNISH LAPPHUND PG D/B (2,0), 1 Mr. M. Rudd, Infindigo Lintu Henkka: A 2.6mth old dog that is of a dark colour. He is of a good type with a good out-line. I liked his head that is of a lovely type and typical of the breed. He has a good bite and his muzzle is of good strength, and he has a nice distinctive stop with correct eyes. Super skull with a good ear-set. Good length of neck, well laid shoulders, neat front with plenty of bone. I would like to see a little more substance on him, I am sure this will come with maturity. He has a good back end with good tail set and correct tail. Good angles to rear with neat hocks. Moved well. But I feel he still needs to settle in the ring to win the big awards. Still pleased to award him BOB.    2 Miss. Sisley-Smith, Tabanyaruu Qtamo Onni: A dark coloured dog that is rising 3yrs of age. He is larger size than 1st with more substance and is of a pleasing type and out-line. His head features were not as strong as 1st and I felt that his front could be better which reflected in his movement. He has a deep chest and nice spring of rib. Good back and neat rear end with a good tail and tail set. Pity he came up against 1st today. Res. BOB.

COLLIE (Rough) PG D/B (4,2), 1 Mr. S.W. & Mrs. D.J. Wright, Cuannar Crazy For You: A S/W 16mth old dog that is of a pleasing type and out-line. He has a nice head but a little too much stop for me. Nice eyes and good head carriage. Good length of neck, his front is ok and he has plenty of bone. Nice back and back-end which he used to good effect when moving. Pleased to award him BOB.   2 Mr. S.W. & Mrs. D.J. Wright, Cuannar For Your Eyes Only: Litter sister to 1st a nice and feminine Tri coloured bitch. She is of pleasing type and out-line. A little shorter than 1st and sadly has a round eye which spoilt her expression. Un-fortunately today, she was not very settled on the move.

OD (3,0), 1 Mr. S.W. & Mrs. D.J. Wright, Pelido Davie Weir: A 6yr old S/W dog that has a pleasing head with strong skull and ear-set, nice muzzle and eye. Good length of neck, nice front and good brisket. He has a rather steep croup; and his back legs are well under him which reflected on his movement today. Which I felt could have been better. Res. BOB.
