1.    Millar’s Yennadon Benriach JW D  BOB  Immediately caught my eye in a strong class. Stylish compact dog making a lovely balanced picture and not oversized. Hardly needs stacking, nearly does the job himself. Good clean tan with correct coat. Head is strong with a pleasing expression, long low set ears. Sound front construction with well laid back shoulders. Nicely short coupled. Sound quarters. Whilst he could be in harder condition, he moved well with drive holding his level topline. Went really well in the big ring and I was pleased to see him shortlisted for BIS.

2.    Knight’s Benbuie Thorntree B A slightly bigger bitch. Again a pleasing head, good reach of neck, leading to good shoulder conformation, though would prefer slightly more breadth of chest. Correctly constructed, sound quarters. Correct coat and type, just not quite as balanced compared to 1.

3.    Bage & Boxall’s Ludstar Isabella Laurelhach  B Another bigger bitch, but of a type I like and pushed hard for 2nd.Prefer less heavily boned and a touch more short coupled. Overall conformation pleasing and moved well with drive.

LIMIT (4,0)

1    McQuillan’s Kelsnnor Scarlet Jezebel  B Nicely balanced bitch, looking the part of a Gordon. Typical brick on brick head with intelligent expression. Well laid back shoulders, good length and topline, sound quarters. Coat not overdone, with clean tan markings. Another that could be in harder condition, but moved well to earn the class.

2    McNeil’s Lachmor Sincerely Yours at Barrabrae (IMP HRV)  B, Not making life easy for her handler, but when stood still presented a pleasing picture. Would prefer more depth to muzzle and broader chest. Good length and level topline. Sound quarters.

3    McAvoy’s Laurelhach Bemm  D A heavier dog, also being difficult on the day. Liked his head and pleasing expression, though would prefer less width across skull. Would benefit from carrying less weight, but still moved well!

4    Shield’s Florcott Inchtavannach Lad D

OPEN (6,4)

1    McQuillan’s Kelsnnor Scarlet Jezebel B

2    Turner’s Dunfionn Quair with Moniack  D, BVIB I was surprised to find he is a veteran, he still looks younger! Liked his type, but a bit figity today. Pleasing head. Prefer a touch more length of upper arm. Nicely short coupled. Sound quarters. He wasn’t quite focussed on the job in hand today, so could have moved with more purpose.
