Ruthin Canine Society – Premier Open Show 

Saturday 15th June 2019 

I would like to thank the Society for inviting me to judge at this prestigious show set in a most glorious venue. I was appreciative of the stewards and hospitality throughout the day. It was a very enjoyable day and the quality of exhibits, high.

Nice quality bitch. Preferred topline and hind action of winner. Lovely head and expression. Nice coat and well muscled

Well proportioned head and muzzle. Feminine with a lovely outline. Good forehand. Well ribbed and shown in good muscle tone. Strong well angulated hindquarters. BOB

Pleasing size who presented a balanced outline – feminine throughout. Liked her head, bone , firm feet, well sprung ribbing, thought that he moved out with an easy far reaching stride. BP & BOB

1st Porczynska Diamondridge Destiny Child JW 

Very close up to BOB, presented a nicely balanced, feminine   and proportionate outline, well filled front, strong bone, all over a pleasing exhibit. Scored over #2 in front and hind quarters. Moved well 

2nd Kehoe & Phillips Affrhoda Ons Meisie Kya For Redcrown 

Well made bitch but not quite the topline on the day. Scored in head and expression. Moved nicely.

She is so well put together, gorgeous head and expression, beautifully carried on a long neck, ample layback in front, developing well in hindquarters and again did all I could ask on the move. 

2nd Smiths Jesrae Out of Africa to Elequal (imp Zaf) 

For me, a tad finer in type, lovely head and expression, decent shape. Not quite the forequarters of winner 

3rd Williams’ Copperfirre The Natural at Eryri

Pleasing throughout.  A little loaded in forequarters. Lovely head and expression and moved with drive.

1st Williams’ Barnesmore Queen Of The Celts 

Ultra feminine with a superb expression  and head shape. This girl is so elegant and shapely. Presented in lovely fit condition, a pleasure to go over. Admired her smooth, and sound flowing movement. BOB 

2nd Smiths Rivarco Jack Daniels (Imp Ita) 

Quality male with a decent overall shape. Scored in topline and head  and expression. Lovely ears and eye shape. A little heavy in forequarters for me on the day.

Very well balance throughout which was evident when she used the  

ring to best advantage. Very good make and overall proportions. Correct size  & shape,  lovely head & expression with good muscle tone.

2nd Catlows Hydebeck Dream of Lorelei at Laoiseach (Irish Wolfhound) 

Quality IW who was unfortunate to come against winner in such good form. Good shape with superb head. Moved OK – just needs a little more ringcraft

Lovely, happy boy . so jolly throughout the proceedings and a credit to his owner and breeder for this great temperament. Decent head and expression and nice overall shape. Moved OK

Liked her neck into shoulder construction & balance of angles.  Good when standing and on the move.

1 – Pattersons Phaeland Second Delivery To Ambiesque (Std S/H Dachshund) 

Good length of head and dark, almond eye. Excellent neck and shoulders. Good bone with nicely padded feet. I admired his good balance and very typical outline. Impressive on the move with a free, flowing stride. Shown in excellent condition and muscle tone. 

2 – Crabtrees Maghullpaws Lord of the Ring (Bloodhound) 

High quality male with a super head, excellent front construction with a good keel, good angulation front and back, a very balanced hound with a free strong stride 

3 – Whitfield-Roberts’ Minard Your Own Kind of Music ( Min L/H Dachs) 

A calm assured showgirl, good length of head, proud head carriage, well bodied with good rib and strong loin. Stunning when standing or on the move Always kept her outline . Moved soundly. 

4- Harding & Cowleys Khasbek Licence to Win at Ashahni (Imp Fra) (Afghan) 

Really typy and  of excellent proportions. Lovely head and expression. Lengthy neck into a well laid shoulder and good return of upper arm. Well ribbed back and has a firm topline with correct croup. Well bent stifle and low hock. Good springy gait. Completed a lovely quartet

1-Whitfield-Roberts’ Minard Your Own Kind of Music ( Min L/H Dachs) 

A calm assured showgirl, good length of head, proud head carriage, well bodied with good rib and strong loin. Stunning when standing or on the move Always kept her outline . Moved soundly. 

2- Disleys Snowleana Greta Garbo (whippet)

Lovely puppy. Very well put together with glorious head and expression. Lovely kind dark eye, good ear set, .lovely reach of neck into good shoulders. Level top line, proportionate depth of chest for age. Well made quarters with good feet. Moved very soundly and with style. Handled  sympathetically 

4-Lloyds Doucai’s Helu Faruna Of Athanasius (Pharaoh Hound) 

9 month old bitch and scored in head and expression. Decent neck and forequarters. Well made body and quarters. Moving very well for age

Lovely Veteran who has the most feminine, soft expression. Has still got what it takes and a great example of the breed. Delighted to hear that she later went Best Veteran in Show. Well done

Very attractive, very feminine, correct outline, lovely neck and topline, well-angulated behind, very positive side gait, moved with purpose and drive, well handled, lovely temperament, outstanding both standing and moving.BOB 

2nd Kaal & Rances Dallydyl Dream of Mandersley To Olbero   

Lovely youngster, clearly a baby  who moved out well. Typical, feminine head and expression, correct front assembly with good lay of shoulder, good legs, very shapely with good bone and feet, moved soundly, correct tailset. BP

Shown in cracking form – very fit. Nice substance, well balanced, lovely head and expression, good strong neck going into well laid shoulders, correct angulation front and rear, loved her free movement, showed well.

A most delightful youngster who excels in head qualities with good skull and ear set, breadth of muzzle. Moderate, arched neck and good body with gentle curve and good spring of rib. Moved soundly. 

2nd Shoemark’s Luekiki Given A Dream  

Close up to winner. A soundly made and good moving  puppy, very pleasing head and expression, nicely padded muzzle with good underjaw. Compact and cobby with a very typical outline.  Moved well.    BP

Bitch of pleasing type. Decent body shape and expression. Nice in outline, lovely head pattern, good mouth, nice ears used well, good length of neck, level topline, tail set correct. Not easy to assess on the move.

Good type square outline, nice head pattern good eye, mouth and ear placement, strong neck level topline, well boned. Not the strength in forequarters I was seeking on the day.

Close up to winner and many of the same attributes.  A lovely natured boy who just wants to please his handler

Needs a little more familiarity with showing but a nice example of the breed with good head and expression. Moved well despite carrying a little extra weight. BP

Very typical and well-balanced. Lovely dark eyes with good pigmentation. Keen and alert. Moderately long nicely arched neck. Beautifully balanced and well bodied. Sound and true on the move with a light easy action.

Attractive typical expression. Good breadth and depth of chest. Decent forehand. Excellent topline and tail set. Very pleasing on the move.

A keen attentive showman, really pretty head and expression with neat ears and excellent pigmentation. Legs set well under a well ribbed body with good topline and high set tail. Good neat feet. Excellent hind action and in profile she has a light easy action. Shown in first class condition. BOB

Very handsome and presented the complete picture to me. Impressive head and expression, straight well boned legs and good feet. Moderate breadth of chest and good depth of brisket. Strong, well ribbed body. In beautiful coat and condition and his movement was first class.  BOB

High quality bitch and pushed BOB hard. Shared the attributed but just preferred the free movement and athleticism of Limit winner

Masculine dog combining quality and substance. Typical head, eye and expression. Good neck and forehand, legs and feet. Preferred topline of class winner.

Nice example of the breed with decent head and typical expression. OK in profile and moved OK but , for me, carrying a tad  too much weight but scored in coat BOB

Not quite the movement of winner and without any coat at the moment . Lovely happy youngster with pleasing head.

A real baby with a lovely typical temperament, pleasing head and expression, good neck and shoulders, quite short and compactly built. Moved out so  well for age. BP

A really well constructed bitch with good neck and shoulders. Strong well ribbed body. Attractive head with decent leathers. True and sound both ways and in profile had a light easy action.

Excellent type and balance, really good skull, pleasing eye, blunt muzzle and excellent dentition. Moderate neck with well laid shoulders. Extremely good on the move with a swift easy action. Shown in lovely condition. BOB 

2nd Davies’ Bowcara Rose Gold 

Smart, typical and well balanced with no exaggeration, good muzzle with a lovely expression, excellent forehand with moderate bone and lovely hare feet. Moves really well both ways.

Quite delightful. Well balanced and very typey with a good skull, dark expressive eyes and nicely finished muzzle. Well ribbed and his topline and tailset are excellent. Coat and shawl developing nicely. Very sound moving.

Very glamorous, good skull and eyes. Blunt muzzle, adequate breadth of chest. High set tail. A lively attentive showman. Just preferred the forequarters of winner on the day.

Absolutely cracking puppy with everything in the right place. Her head-piece is ultra-feminine, with the most appealing expression. She is balanced, is square in outline, and exudes quality, substance with style. She never stood wrong and she has superb carriage and precise footfall on the move with true star quality appeal.

I liked his head  for its shape, proportions. He has very good  from all angles and holds a very firm top-line, and is perfect for croup and tail-set and usage. He was shown in tip-top condition and very well-presented jacket, and for me is a classic and free mover with accuracy, style and true precision.

I really liked this winner for her head shape, expression and excellent side-gait. She is balanced, has depth and substance, a good top-line and more importantly, enough width behind. Just preferred the front action on my BOB

Nicely balanced outline, excellent size and shape. Decent head with a lovely eye and ears of excellent shape which are well placed. Nice reach of neck and good topline with excellent tail placement and carriage.

1 - Price, Leese & Barron’s Araki Brass Barabass (Tibetan Terrier) 

I liked his head  for its shape, proportions. He has very good  from all angles and holds a very firm top-line, and is perfect for croup and tail-set and usage. Spot on for bone, outline, shape and overall total balance with lovely shaped feet. He was shown in tip-top condition and very well-presented jacket, and for me is a classic and free mover with accuracy, style and true precision. Delighted to hear he later went on to Best In Show 

2- Dodds Remrah Hear My Roar With Kobuna (Shih Tzu) 

Stunning bitch with large round dark eyes nicely placed wide apart.  She has a strong presence which is hard to ignore ears correctly placed on a good  head. Moves with ease and confidence good topline and rear quarters. 

3-  Cooks Jaquietus Careless Whisper (French Bulldog) 

A top quality bitch with a lovely feminine head, well placed ears, dark expressive eyes and nicely cushioned muzzle. Cobby, compact body with good topline and well muscled hindquarters. Sound and free moving.   

4-Davies’ Neradmik Over the Rainbow To Kyross (Keeshond) 

Very handsome and presented the complete picture to me. Impressive head and expression, straight well boned legs and good feet. Moderate breadth of chest and good depth of brisket. Strong, well ribbed body. In beautiful coat and condition and his movement was first class.

Delightful head and expression, very good forehand, strong well ribbed body with short loin and good tail set. Moderate angulation. Profuse coat of good texture. Moved well with a true brisk action. So alert all of the time. 

2nd Daniella Vom Thyrowberg To Gladsheim ShCM (Kooikerhondje) 

High quality and a lovely veteran. Moved and showed very well. 

3rd Jackson & Minshall Ch Holbain Just Like Bill ( German Spitz (Klein)
