Leicester City Canine Society Open Show Monday 26th August 2019
Thank you to the committee for the invitation to judge at your very well organised show and to my fantastic stewards Barry & Mike who kept the ring and me going on rather a warm day.
And not least, thank you to you the exhibitors for such a super entry and the opportunity to go over your lovely dogs.
Gordon Setters
Puppy (2/1abs)
1 Seymour - Pegasett Celtic Snapdragon : 8 month old dog, deep masculine head, good length of neck, smooth over shoulders, good forechest well let down for age, neat feet, needs time to grow into himself but typical of puppy this age, good topline, moved out confidently with long strides BPIB
Junior (3/2)
1 Reid - Diersett Irridium JW : 16 month old bitch, feminine head, good ear set, kind expression, neck in balance with body, good depth of brisket and well ribbed back, falls away over croup which spoils the outline and was a little unbalanced on the move today.
Open (4/0)
1 Mawby - Burroughof Star Symphony : I liked the overall balance of this mature bitch, good feminine head with substance, low set ears, good depth of chest and ribbed back with wide loin, well arched feet, not over angulated behind enabling a steady, flowing, driving movement. BOB
2 Seymour - Pegasett Scotch Fern : another feminine head with low set ears, soft expression,
moved out well on neat feet, I just preferred the balance of one.
3 Tong - Benbuie Rose Quartz With Kellizlot
Irish Red And White Setter
Puppy (1/0)
1 Ward - Cornadore Bia Becomes Copperwhite (Imp Pol) 10 month old bitch, good markings, looked well stood but needs time to come together more on the move but know this breed is slow to mature, feminine head, well bodied for age with good forechest and well ribbed back, BPIB.
Junior (1/0)
1 Ward - Cornadore Bia Becomes Copperwhite (Imp Pol) repeat
Post Graduate (4/1)
1 O’Connor - Dalcross Dancing Queen With Caispern : loved the look of this bitch, everything about her flowed, feminine head, lovely over neck and shoulder, not over angulated behind, neat feet, she was playing her handler up on the move but I could see enough to happily award her the placing.
2 Henson - Ianbro Corellian Calypso At Tatsbro : another nice young bitch but for me didn’t quite have the overall balance of one, pretty head, would prefer more length of neck, moved out steadily.
3 Taylor - Laoirebay Monte Carlo
Open (5/1)
1 Ward - Cornadore Argyle With Copperwhite (Imp Pol) : mature boy with enough substance for his frame, lovely outline standing, good feet, well marked, balanced back and front, moved out well around the ring just didn’t have the verve in the Group ring today. BOB
2 Hart - Sh Ch Gilliegrae Swift N’Chic : leaner than I’d like at the moment, good length of neck, deep chest and well ribbed back, moved out with sure strides.
3 McDonald - Roanjora Castelao JW ShCM
Cocker Spaniel
Puppy (5/0) my notes read - what a lovely class of youngsters
1 Béchet & Darby - Pearkim Prunella Dargess : 8 month old bitch, beautiful feminine head, low set ears, clean through neck and shoulders, lovely balance front and back, scored over neck and shoulders, well boned but not heavy, held her top line well and strong through rear assemble, beat no 2 on her stylish driving movement BPIB and a worthy Puppy Group 1
2 Parker - Annilann Miss Sweetheart At Weyhill : 7 month old bitch, carrying just a little weight today, but could not be denied her place, deep in forechest, and balanced for age, confident young lady, steady on the move.
3 Pearce - Miska Eva Cassidy
Junior (5/1)
1 Brothwell & Bayliss- Wilanorah Daiquiri : 13 month old bitch, feminine head, low set ears, carrying a little weight which spoilt her overall shape, but nicely put together, well rounded hindquarters, a merry little stylish mover.
2 Hill - Princehill Shining Star : 13 month old bitch, very feminine head, compact body, good presentation, moved out steadily on good feet just not the movement of 1 today.
3 Davies - Dailey Dreamer
Post Graduate (3/1)
1 Brothwell - Wilanorah Soul Sister At Wissant : not much between these two both moved out well, just preferred the feminine head of 1, good front assembly and depth of chest, held top line well on the move, good feet, enthusiastic movement from well developed hind quarters.
2 West - Sheigra Simply A Star JW : pretty head, good length of neck, well ribbed back and short in loin, neat feet, moved out well with drive.
Open (4/0)
1 West - Sheigra Stars In Her Eyes JW : this 2 year old bitch owned the ring and won the class on her happy, confident and stylish movement, lovely feminine head, great balance throughout holding a strong top line, flowed through neck and shoulders, well bodied, neat feet, strong, well developed rear assembly, delighted to award her BOB & a very worthy Group 4.
2 Saunders - Moonstryder Eliza Taylor At Oxfordogs : feminine pretty head with low set ears, slightly stockier in shape than one, well off for substance, held topline well, not quite the stride of one today.
3 Varnham - Cachel Snowqueen At Shanaudvarin
Spaniel (Welsh Springer)
Puppy (1/0)
1 Short - Ferndel Fire Gem At Toftwood : 9 month old bitch, a little shy at first but then came into her own on the move, lovely feminine head, good balanced shape for her age, moved out steadily with sure footedness for one so young, strong over croup, has much more to come BPIB & PG4
Junior (3/0)
1 Short - Ferndel Fire Gem At Toftwood : repeat
2 Whitfield - Benoveor Ticket To Ride : balanced head, correct ear set, good front assembly with well laid back shoulders, longer in body than one, a little erratic at times on the move today.
3 Mackness - Blythway Sundance Gold
Open (6/2)
1 Oliver - Glenbrows Royal Dragon : this young man gave me goosebumps when he came in the ring, such a showman on the move and strode out as one with his handler, powerful all male but so light on his feet, handsome head with soft expression, not over done he flowed from head to tail, lovely balanced outline and strong hindquarters. Delighted to award him BOB & Group 1. I will watch his progress with interest.
2 Thomas - Sh Ch Bowdonia Anastasia JW Sh CM : mature feminine bitch unlucky to meet number one on such top form, clean over neck, well developed body, strong topline, moved out confidently from good feet.
3 Whitfield - Glenbrows Heart To Heart
AVNSC
Puppy (3/3)
Junior (2/1)
1 Morris - Caliway Dolly Varden - Spaniel (Irish Water) : 13 months, strong head, nice shape standing, well bodied, good depth of chest, just let down today on movement which was a little erratic.
Open (4/0)
1 Evans - Sh Ch Yorkham Rocking Rudolph - Spaniel (Sussex) : what a sound mover this boy is and able to motor around the ring, strong throughout and held top line, handsome refined balanced head with good expression, well set ears, deep chest and well developed topline, well developed muscular rear assembly. A worthy Group 3 winner in a strong shortlist.
2 Busby - Stanegate Leading Role At Zakby JW - Spaniel (Irish Water) : unlucky to meet 1 on such good form but a worthy second, very stylish with still more to come as just 18 months, handsome head, good length of neck in balance with body, well developed ribs, moved out with powerful strides.
