If we are able to choose the weather for a dog show then today’s weather would not be it.  The rain set in early and was there for the day. Such a shame as I can only imagine how glorious it would be to watch the dogs outside in the lovely grass rings.  But it was not to be and I salute the secretary and committee for their tireless work to put the show on, and to the exhibitors who buckled down to help each other where needed to ensure that everyone who needed the shelter of the marquee could get in.

An enjoyable days judging and what lovely line-ups I had for BIS, BPIS and BVIS

Best in Show was the Newfoundland, Adair’s King of Helluland Love Actually at Darebear JW ShCM (IMP). 2yr Black B. WOW, what a gorgeous girl. Beautifully presented in good coat, super shape and size. Lovely head, feminine with good breadth of skull and muzzle and dark eyes. Strong neck set well onto well laid shoulders. Ribs deep and well sprung back to a muscular loin and on to well-muscled rear quarters used so well to drive her round the ring. A pleasure to go over and a joy to watch move. BOB then stood out to win Working Group 1 and carried on showing to walk away with Best in Show.  A star of the future.

Reserve Best in Show was the Whippet, Langcake-Short’s Langshor Groovy Kind of Love.  What a super 3yr B. Beautifully balanced series of curves. Super head, good length with slight stop. Long neck flowing into well-muscled, laid back shoulders, good bone and neat feet. Deep chest, ribbed back to a muscular, well arched loin. Strong muscular hindquarters with good bend of stifle and a well set tail. A beautiful free true mover.

Best Puppy in Show was the Pointer, Mason’s Morgan van Freebreeze (IMP)  10mth B. Really liked this young lady, lovely outline with a pleasing head of good shape. Well made straight front with good bone and neat feet, deep chest, good spring of rib to a well muscled loin all under a level topline. Well angled rear and impressed with her muscle. Moved true and with drive. A promising youngster. BOB & BP then please to see her come back into the ring later on where I was pleased to award her BPIS.

Reserve Best Puppy in Show was the Beagle, Sneddon’s Newlin Quickstep at Hardexspen 11mth D. Lovely size and shape, masculine head with good shape to skull and dark eye. Well-made forequarters with good forechest and return of upper arm. Level topline to correct tail set and carriage. Nicely angulated rear. Smart mover who drives out well.

Best Veteran in Show was the Border Collie. 9yr D. Belies his years. Lovely size and shape, correct in head with nice dark eye and intelligent expression. Well-made forehand with good forechest, well laid shoulders and well sprung ribs. On the move his is so typical, lovely shape with a smooth easy gait.
