Kent County Canine Association

Kent County Canine Association – 18 August 2019

I thoroughly enjoyed my day judging at this show; the committee were friendly and welcoming, the atmosphere was just lovely and the running order just right. Huge congratulations to the committee for a fabulous show!

Thank you also to the exhibitors for bringing along some lovely dogs for me to go over. I found mouths were good and all dogs clean and well presented.

Chihuahua (Longcoat)

Junior (4, 2 abs)

1 Clare White’s Crydera Cinnamon Dream, 11 month old sable bitch with a black mask. Finer in bone than 2 but a very sound mover with rear drive that powered her round the ring. Kept a lovely level topline on the move, with a well placed sickle tail and just the right amount of feathering. A little out of coat at the moment but that will return. A nice head with well placed and well used ears and super expression. Lots of confidence and was attuned to her handler, showed her little socks off! Was pleased to award her BPIB and then delighted to see her go on to take the Toy Puppy Group.

2 Pauline Lodwick and Teresa Barker’s Royal William Bikin Dvor (Imp Svk). 7 month old fawn and white male. I liked this boy a lot. A lovely masculine head with apple dome and definite stop. Compact in body and good in bone. He is a sound mover, with the correct level topline, sickle tail and in excellent coat for a puppy, without being overdone. He has a nice spring of rib and is well constructed front and rear. He is still a raw puppy and uncertain in the ring, but I am sure his confidence will come as he matures.

Post Graduate (3, 1 abs)

1 Pauline Lodwick’s Pocoperro Leila. 3 year old fawn bitch. She is compact and dainty, her head has a nice apple dome and the typical melting expression coming from her beautiful eyes and correct dentition. A super level topline both on the stand and on the move and she showed herself off with ease. Good front assembly, correct tailset which she used well, and in excellent coat. A happy little girl who could have charmed me all day long. My BOB who later went Group 4 in the Toy Group.

2 Clare White’s Crydera Ivy May. 3.5 year old fawn sable bitch. Liked her expression, lovely head with dark pigment. Dentition ok. Showed well for her handler and moved well round the ring with good front assembly but her movement was just topped by 1. Correct amount of coat in good condition.

Open (2, 1 abs)

1 Clare White’s Gabrielbelle Irisa. 3 year old red/gold bitch. Apple dome head with tapered muzzle which was just the right length for me. Expressive eyes and good dentition. Held a level topline on the move. Good rear movement but front movement not quite as good as the winner of the Post Grad class. RBOB.

Chihuahua (smoothcoat)

Junior (2, 0 abs)

The exhibits in this class are litter brothers and very similar in type.

1 Felicity Murray’s Davixity Nijinsky. 8 month old black and tan dog. A very nice mover and very attentive to his handler. He just needs to pull himself together on the stand so that he can make the most of his construction in profile, but I am sure this will come. I loved his head, which for me, is what a Chihuahua head should be. Super apple dome and deep stop with excellent dentition. Expressive and well placed eyes, ears exactly where they should be and he used them well. Lovely neat feet and moved round the ring with confidence. BOB, BPIB and he then went on to take G2 in the adult Toy Group and G3 in the Toy Puppy Group.

2 Mrs J Davidson-Poston’s Davixity Bruhn Spinillions. Much the same applies as for one, particularly in relation to his head. I did find this dog actually pipped his litter brother to the post in terms of movement, but he was spooked in the ring by a larger breed in the next ring which threw his topline and tailset on the move and made him nervous on the table. He is still a raw puppy and needs to build his confidence, which hopefully will come in time as he is a very nice boy that I liked a lot. RBOB.
