Chertsey & District Canine Society

My thanks to the Officers and Committee for inviting me to judge at this very well run show. My thanks also to the exhibitors for allowing me the honour of judging their dogs, which lacked in quantity but had plenty of quality.

Papillon

Puppy 1:0

1st and BPIB Miss H J Marsden, Finity Rewrite The Stars

6 month tri dog lacking coat and fringing at this time. Correct head and very well placed ears with fringing starting. Dark eyes with correct pigmentation. Good reach of neck, lovely shoulders. Reasonable tail set with fringing coming in. Moved with a light, free-flowing gait covering the ground well.

Graduate 2:0

1st and BOB Mrs L Slater, Baillion Black Obsidian

2 year old black and white dog who impressed when he entered the ring and did not disappoint. Fine and dainty with the most luxurious fine and silky coat and so well presented. He was everything that the standard calls for. Correctly proportioned head with such dark eyes. Ears were well fringed and very well used. Good reach of neck into lovely shoulders. Tail correctly set on high and very well fringed. Moved soundly with a free-flowing gait and oh so light

2nd Miss H J Marsden, Panspayon Eye Of The Day

2 year old sable bitch. Lovely head with very good ear placement and fringing. Sweet expression. Did not seem at ease on the ground conditions today as appeared a little heavy in front. Heavier boned than the 1st. Tail correctly set on high and carried well

Open 2:0

1st and RBOB Miss K F Miller, Feorlig Viva La Vida

4 year old red sable bitch. In good, correct coat. Very good head with dark eyes, ears well placed and well fringed. Good reach of neck into good shoulders. Fine and dainty overall. Tail set on high and well fringed. Moved freely but just lacked the lightness of the BOB

2nd Marsden & Mason & Stanbury Miss , Miss K & Mrs S, Inixia Fine Fella

2 year old black and white dog in good, correct coat. Although the head markings were symmetrical the blaze was wider than ideal, but still acceptable. Ears well placed and fringed. Good reach of neck into good shoulders. A little longer in the back. On the move was skipping behind. Suggest that the handler tries moving a little slower which may eliminate this particular issue

Basenji

Graduate 4:2

1st and RBOB Mr Willsone, Akaifleet I’m Couger

3 year old red and white dog who appeared a little heavier than ideal. Head was flat, well chiselled and of medium width, tapering towards the nose, with a slight stop. Correct forequarters and fine boned legs. Short, level back. Feet small, narrow and compact. Tail correctly set with single curl. Gait was okay but didn’t move with a swift, long, tireless, swinging stride

2nd Ms T Kalina, Frederick Fantastic Destiny

16 month red and white dog who was better to standard than 1st. Beautifully balanced with the swift, long, tireless, swinging stride. However, his temperament let him down today so I was unable to go over him. Such a shame!

Open 1:0

1st and BOB Mrs T Holloway, Aksaifleet I’m Cheetah

3 year old red and white bitch shown to perfection. Head flat, well chiselled and of medium width, tapering towards nose, with slight stop. Lightly built, finely boned and aristocratic. Balanced with short, level back. Tail set on high with single curl. Moved with a swift, long, tireless, swinging stride. All that the breed should be

Afghan

Junior 1:0

1st and BPIB Mr M & Mrs N Earnshaw, Shadowfax Rakes Progress At Moonshadow

8 month black dog in good coat for one so young. Gave the impression of strength and dignity, combined with speed and power. Correct skull which was long, but not too narrow, well balanced with long top knot. Smooth springy gait which was exceptional for one so young. Should mature on nicely

Open 2:0

Two very classy exhibits and made it a very hard class to judge

1st and BOB Turner & Hutton Boydell Mrs J & Mrs Z, Nightwind You’re My Kind Of Crazy (Imp Ger)

2 year old black bitch in good coat. Correct head and skull, with long, strong neck and proud head carriage. Wonderful forequarters, back level and of moderate length falling away slightly to the stern. Powerful hindquarters with well bent and well turned stifles. Moved with a smooth, springy gait of the highest order. Just remember to move her a little slower

2nd and RBOB Miss K Wilenczyc, Kerrijo The Scorpion King At Kashiba

4 year old fawn dog in full coat. So many of the same attributes and qualities of the 1st. Just lost out on movement, which was good but lacked the springiness of the 1st
