My thanks to the officer and committee for inviting me to judge at this show. Thanks to those who organised and supplied the buffet lunch, which was most enjoyable. Thanks must also go to my stewards for the day and to the exhibitors who entered under me and for their acceptance of my decisions. Thoughts go out to Yvonne Billows who had to step down from judging due to surgery, wishing her a very speedy recovery.

Saluki

Junior 1:0

1ST , BPIB & BOB – L Ince – Indiana Byrlince

11 month bitch in very good condition. Dignified and graceful expression. In profile correct head and skull with correct set ears with feathering coming along. Sloping well set back shoulders, deep chest with straight long forelegs. Feet correct. Tail set on low and carried correctly. Moved with a light flowing movement in quite a tight space

Post Grad 1:0

1st Mr B & Mrs G Roberts – Classicus Apollo At Zanfarzand

20 month dog. Much of what has been said of the 1st in Junior could also be applied to this boy. Being a little more mature the feathering was more in evidence and on another day he could win BOB. Unfortunately he did not make the best of himself either stood or on the move, showing a tendency to being nervous and unsettled

Puppy 3:1

1st, BPIB & TPG3 – Mr R & Mrs K Lee – Kelrick One Kiss

7 month Blenheim bitch with the most feminine, sweet expression. Exudes confidence. Correct head and skull , eyes large, dark, round and set well apart. Straight forelegs with moderate bone, shoulders well-laid back, moderate length neck. Tail well set on and carried happily at all times. Moved freely and elegantly

2ND Mr R & Mrs K Lee – Kelrick Promises

7 month Blenheim bitch with feminine, sweet expression. Larger type than 1st and markings not as clearly defined. Although the feathering and coat in general was more abundant than 1st and her tail never stopped wagging I preferred the 1st. Again, this girl moved freely and elegantly

Junior 3:1

1st Mr R & Mrs K Lee – Kelrick Flashback

7 month Blenheim dog, litter sister to 1st in puppy. A super looking boy with a lovely head and expression. Well built, sound mover with plenty of feathering. Well marked with reasonably cleared demarcation in colours. Deserved to win this class but lost out to his sister for BPIB

2nd Mr Hawes – Laygib On The Up

13 month Blenheim bitch, reasonably marked. Good head and forequarters. Ears well set and feathering coming through. Although she moved well she was not as confident as 1st and was also leaning on the lead on the move

Post Grad 7:4

1st BOB Mrs L Byrne – Chantismere Chanson D’Amour For Eithlynn

3 year Blenheim bitch in full coat and feathering. She has the sweetest most gentle expression with large, dark round eyes which are well set apart. Lovely head with pendulous, well set ears. Beautifully marked. Correct legs and feet. Moved out so soundly and happily.

2nd Mr R & Mrs K Lee – Kelrick The Irish Rover

12 month Blenheim dog from the Kelrick kennel. They have produced several lovely youngstock which were exhibited today. Another good example of the breed with a lovely head and expression. Going through a slightly rebellious stage as was a little unsettled, but will, no doubt, go on to win

3rd Mr R & Mrs K Lee – Kelrick Galway Bay

Open 6:5

1st Mrs S & Miss E Loynd – Crimbledale Genesis

4 year old Black and Tan dog, stood alone. In full coat. Well marked. Lovely head and darkest of eyes. Moved out soundly but tail not carried making him look a little grumpy

Miniature Pinscher

Junior 2:1

1st BOB Mrs T Billington – Bamtybo Bonbon Avec Yrieix JW

16 month Black and Tan bitch. Earlier this year I awarded her BOB which gave her the final JW point. She did not disappoint today. She has the true Hackney action which is missing in some in the breed. Being on level going indoors this movement was all the more apparent. She is well balanced, sturdy, compact, elegant, short-coupled and smooth coated. Maybe a little fine for some but one I will watch going forward

I would like to thank the Papillon exhibitors for joining me in the ring to observe a minutes silence in memory of Cathy Urquhart (Blackpark). Our thoughts are with Gordon and the family, Cathy will be very much missed

Papillon

Puppy 4:0

1st BPIB Miss S Burns – Ablazzor Tristar

10 month tri dog in excellent coat. Very well presented Although carrying a little too much condition today I overlooked this due to his breed attributes. Symmetrically marked head, dark eyes with dark rims. Correctly set, well feathered ears used to effect. Tail well set and carried well at all times. His movement was a little impeded by his over-condition but nevertheless was still positive and covered ground

2nd Messrs C & W Cooper – Wilachins Oli

10 month sable dog with a very attractive, well marked head with correct set ears. Definitely meets the standard of fine and dainty. Lighter cast than 1st but also longer in the back. Forequarters good, with straight, slender forelegs. Well turned stifle and moved out soundly. Tail not as well set as 1st

3rd Mr A & Mrs C Foynes – Martika Kiss And Tell For Lafay NAF TAF

Post Grad 7:0

1st BOB, TG4 Miss S C Lanson – Cantoverde Captain Casper JW ShCM

2 ½ year tri boy who never disappoints. Presented in excellent coat and condition. Coat is fine and silky with feathering in all the correct places. Fine and dainty he moves with a positive and unrestricted movement. Correct set ears on the most wonderful of heads, with dark, medium sized eyes. His body exudes breed standard and I hope one day he will make up to Champion as he would so deserve this

2nd Mrs R M Hobson – Amicae Kenzo At Rosenjon

21 month Re Sable dog in the most glorious coat, presented to the highest of standards. Another who fits the breed standard. Has a symmetrically marked head with dark, medium sized eyes. Feathering in all the correct places, coat is fine and silky. He moved out soundly and unrestricted. Just needs to rebuild his confidence

3rd Messrs C & W Cooper – Wilachans Jasmine

Open 6:1

1st Mrs J F Wiggins – Rozamie Monsieur Arthur For Scapafield JW

4 year old Sable dog in excellent condition. This is another I have judged previously and awarded BOB to. He is so to standard and never disappoints in his performance. Coat is fine and silky with feathering in all the right places. Correct head and eye with well set ears which were used to full effect. Moved with a positive gait. So difficult to decide between him and the 1st in Post Grad for BOB

2ND Mrs R M Hobson – Pappretty For Ever And Ever At Rosenjon

3 year old Phalene presented in excellent coat and condition. Abundant fine, silky coat with feathering in all the correct places. Symmetrically marked head with dark eyes. Tail set was excellent. Well balanced throughout. Moved positively

3rd Mr A & Mrs C Foynes – Lafay Petite Etoile JW
