Kingston Canine Society Premier Open Show – 21st July 2019

Pastoral breeds/Groups and RBOB Stakes

A long, busy and pleasurable day spent at Ardingly where I had some good dogs and a huge pastoral group as well as taking on the RBOB stakes at the end of the day. Thank you to my stewards who did a grand job. Thanks too to the committee – first off for the invitation and secondly for the most amazing late lunch - and the flowers.

Belgian Shepherd Dog (Groenendael)

Junior (1)

1. White’s Wichahpi Angpetu. 15mo bitch. A little uncertain of her surroundings and her attention was not focused. Standing presented a lovely, typical outline, with pretty, feminine head, good ears and nice skull to muzzle proportions. Presented in lovely coat, well conditioned. Moved out neatly.

Limit (2)

1. Fletcher, Finnigan & Church’s Invanse Almost Illegal ***. 22 mo bitch, very feminine with correct head proportions and lovely balance. Very good front assembly and good moderate rear. Combined a sense of elegance with an impression that she could do a day’s work. On the move she was sound, moving briskly and with good foot placement. BOB

2. Angier & Stacey’s Icon De Bruine Buck at Birkcross. Handsome young male whose brain was definitely elsewhere in this class, which was a shame as he has much to offer. Super head and lovely outline, powerful body with depth of chest. Shown in super condition. Unfortunately didn’t give himself a chance on the move as was too busy looking elsewhere. Did a better job when called in for the challenge and took RBOB.

Finnish Lapphund

Special Yearling (1)

1. Kennedy’s Lapponnia Halimede Keyza. 16 mo bitch with pretty ‘bear’ head with nice ear set and shape. Nice front and rear angulation. In good body. Would have liked a little more leg length to improve her overall balance. RBOB

Open (3)

1. Clark’s Oberitz Trollnisse. Lovely black tri male of super shape and type. Bear head and good skull to muzzle ratio. Nice for bone and good feet. Coat was in very good order, well marked and colours clear. Moved out well. BOB

AV Pastoral Special Beginners Stakes (10,1) A class of quality which was very nice to judge.

4. Milham’s Shadowshack’s My Girl – German Shepherd Dog. Attractive GSD bitch. Well-constructed, everything in moderation. Very sound and a pleasure to watch her on the move.

Pastoral Puppy Group:

1. Margetts’ Lynmead Lemonade for Collingvale – Rough Collie. Very pretty blue merle bitch. Good proportions, shown in lovely condition. Nicely balanced and sound on the move.

2. Winfield’s Daleabbey’s Apple Pie – Welsh Corgi, Pembroke. Very cheeky puppy bitch who charmed me with her confidence and lovely shape and sound movement.

3. Strong’s Leggatts Dancing Queen At Draccus – Norwegian Buhund. Good to see such a nice Buhund pup and a black too! Lovely type, sound on the move and another charmer.

4. Monks’ Bergeau Forever Starlight – Belgian Shepherd, Tervueren

Best Reserve BOB Competition Final: Ruffles & Williamson’s Holbam Celtic Erin, Irish Terrier. At the end of a very long day I had the pleasure to judge this RBOB stakes class. A packed ring. I was looking for ‘type’ , soundness and attitude – and found it in spades in this lovely young Irish Terrier bitch. Very sound, full of type, full of attitude and ready for anything. Loved her!
