I would just like to say thank you to the Committee for the superb Welsh hospitality and to my stewards Amanda and Linda who did a fabulous job of keeping the ring running efficiently. Well done to Claire Popp for an extremely successful first show as secretary.

BORDER COLLIE

Post Graduate

1.  Carter’s Cartezz Paloma. Male, great substance and well balanced and shown in excellent, muscled condition, moved well in profile, BP.

2.  Garland’s Tonkory Royale ShCM.  Very feminine and a very pretty head, tough handling for her owner but moved ok when settled.  Great spring of rib and keen and alert expression.

Open

1.  Gregory’s Locheil Raise Your Glass to Tonkory.  Good bone and substance and easy gait on the move, would prefer more confidence however the hall was noisy.  Balanced head, well presented and handled, BOB.

2.  Garland’s Tonkory Doyle JW ShCM.  Just lacked condition of 1, again good substance but didn’t move with the reach and drive of 1.

3.  Carter’s Cartezz It’s About That Time.

SAMOYED
Post Graduate

1.  Leader/Wright’s Angelicus Romantica.  At 9 years old and in excellent condition, good profile, alert and 'full of action', would prefer more muscle, correct weather resistant coat and long flat feet.

Open

1.  Leader/Wright’s Angelicus Que Sera Sera at Bjelkier ShCM. Covered ground well in profile, profuse coat, good expression and well-muscled, BOB.

BOXER

Post Graduate

1. Jones/Charles’ Charlons Astute. Still very much a puppy but nice feet and balanced, good under-jaw and pleasing movement, chest still to drop.  Creating good make and shape, BP.

2. Jones’ Hollijon Jonesy Boy.  Moved nicely but just a touch out of balance at the moment.  Would prefer tighter feet.

Open

1. Jones/Charles’ Charlons Nastalgia JW.  Nicely balanced head, correct ears, good bone and substance, pleasing head and alert expression, moved well and had clean hands throughout, BOB.

BERNESE MOUNTAIN DOG

Post Graduate

1. Williams’ Tinland Pink Sapphire. Very naughty but make and shape is there.  Would benefit from more precise handling.  Good substance and well-muscled and nice in profile, BP.

2. Beet’s Tamarbern Dreaming Spires of Wilobazmajic.  Very much a baby, lovely profile movement, good feet and a lot of maturing to do as still a rangy teenager.

Open

1. Morris’ Deheubarth Lodes Nesta. Smaller bitch but well balanced and in proportion.  Lovely movement in profile which saw her through to the group, pretty expression, BOB.

AV IMPORTED BREED REGISTER WORKING

Open

1. Bebb/Baynton’s Alfie Bangwood (Imp Cze).  Entlebucher.  Well-muscled, slightly wide coming to but moved well in profile.

AVNSC WORKING

Junior

1. Byrne’s Harpan Charlotte Bay. Canadian Eskimo Dog.  Nice in profile but acting a little naughty, good feet, well proportioned and muscled, needs firmer handling, BAVNSC & BAVNSC (P)

AV WORKING

Puppy

1.  Crowther’s Kobuk Foxtail Lily.  Siberian Husky.  Would prefer more condition, balanced head and proportions ok, still a lot of growing to do.  Very immature.

2.  Hargreaves’ Kenaiteen Tullis Peak.  Head ok and well-muscled, would just prefer more rear angulation.

3.  Pike’s Coiregrogan Glastonbury.

Veteran

1.  Plant’s Inkomo Perfect Illusion for Shadann ShCM.  Good substance, 7 years old, good feet, well turned out and handled, profile movement nice, would benefit from more condition.

WORKING GROUP:

Neopolitan Mastiff – I cannot express enough how much this dog caught me in the group, thoroughly deserved in a strong working group and commanded attention

In his presence alone.  I have never felt emotion giving a working group placing out before but the feelings evoked with this dog will stay with me forever.  Expertly handled and well boned, excellent proportions and well muscled, steady slow trot covering lots of ground, a credit to his breed, owners and handler.

Dobermann – Good forechest and balanced head, moved well.

Siberian Husky – Well balanced and in proportion, in good fit condition.

Boxer - Balanced and in proportion. In excellent company today.

WORKING PUPPY GROUP:

Boxer – Well proportioned, pleasing head and expression, shown in good muscled

condition, moved and handled excellently on the day.

Alaskan Malamute – Good bone and substance, well-muscled.  Excellently handled and presented, moved around the ring with ease.

Rottweiler – Pleasing head and expression, promising puppy and good in profile.

Canadian Eskimo Dog – Acting up a little bit but deserved G4, well balanced, well-muscled, correct head and nice breed type.

JUNIOR HANDLING YKC 6 – 11 YEARS

1.  Paige Hughes.  Well handled, observed the golden rule, dressed appropriately, very aware of me as the judge and controlled her charge expertly.

2.  Josie Simcock.  Again well handled with a whippet, just lacked the confidence and reassuring nature of 1.

3.  Lilly Hewitt.

JUNIOR HANDLING 12 – 17 YEARS

1.  Poppy Wynter.  Well handled and presented, very understated.  Observed the golden rule and was at one with her dog, would just love to see her have just a little more confidence.

2.  Latoyah Mainwaring.  Understated and observed the golden rule.  The level of handling in this class was exceptional and a credit to all the handlers participating.

3.  Erin Simcock.

JUNIOR HANDLING 18 – 24 YEARS

1.  Ciaran Howell.  I could not identify anything that this handler could improve today.  He was in charge of his beagle, he encouraged the dog, he observed the golden rule, he gaited the dog in an expert way.

2.  Rebecca Mills.  Very close call, just needed to be a bit more confident in herself.

3.  Melissa Phillips.

ADULT HANDLING 25 – 30 YEARS

1.  Rebecca Williams.  Very well handled and presented, worked hard to keep the dog’s attention and focused, observing the golden rule.

2.  Anneka Powell.  Did a great job with such an impressive charge, not everyone has the confidence to attempt a Tibetan Mastiff in a handling class but managed to gait the dog and keep the dog’s attention.

ADULT HANDLING 51+ YEARS

The standard of adult handling was exceptional given that this is a domain that is normally reserved for the juniors and it was very hard to split hairs between all 3 placings.

1.  Moe Dixonhardwick.  Handled a Pom.  Kept the attention of the dog well, really well handled, had a great rapport with the dog.

2.  Bill Molton.  Handled 14 year old Brittany.  Again kept the attention of the dog, kept the focus, was very understated, showed the dog well, just didn’t have as hard to work as 1 because the dog was more compliant.

3.  Janet Rice.  Just needs to give the dog a little bit more confidence, was very aware of me, expertly handled again, I felt that the dog needed a little bit reassurance from the handler which, in a large quite noisy hall, was a little bit lacking.
