HOUGHTON-le-SPRING CANINE SOCIETY

20TH OCTOBER 2019 OPEN SHOW

PUGS

I hope the scheduled judge Nikki Cannon is feeling much better and I would like to thank the exhibitors for sportingly accepting the change of judge.

PUPPY (3) Three promising babies between 6 and 9 months who could easily swap places as they develop. All girls.

1. Walker’s SUNLEA VIVA LAS VEGAS. 9 months youngster whose maturity gave her a slight advantage over the others. Fetching head and expression and a friendly disposition. Solidly made. Presented a balanced outline. Super construction and moved cleanly behind with the characteristic roll. Easy to assess as she was sensible on the table and stood on the ground happily showing off her excellent angles and giving full attention to her owner. A little erratic in front action as yet. BEST PUPPY

2. Walker’s SUNLEA LOVE HEART. Only 6 months old but showed with great composure. Pretty girl who looked at me from super eyes making her expression light up. Plenty of wrinkling. Tidy make and shape with good bone for her frame. No nerves and this allowed her to move around the ring uninhibited. Needs to tighten in front.

3. Turnbull’s EASTONITE BEWITCHED BY NICOBRI

JUNIOR (4) 3 abs

1. Cowie’s MEGIPUGI’S MILLI ON DREAMS. 9 months old sweet faced Black puppy. Attractive head with glorious expression. Super attitude. Her outline was balanced and her well turned stifles gave her good propulsion. Nice tail set and appropriate carriage. She has plenty of self assurance and her sleek coat shone with condition. A tad wide in front action and I felt she could benefit from calorie counting.

POST GRAD (3) 2 abs

1. Turnbull’s NICOBRI LOVE ME TENDER. BEST OF BREED went to this stylish 17 month male. So many good points to appreciate. Appealing expression with large, dark shining eyes. Plenty of work in the head yet unexaggerated in the wrinkling. Compact, sturdy body. Complimentary angles front and rear and he impressed on the move. Firm topline and good tail. Really on his toes and put on a sparkling performance. I was delighted to see him go on to win the Toy Group under judge Murray Armstrong. Following on from this success I read that he won his 1st CC later in the week at Midland Counties. Many congratulations. On this form his continued success should be assured.

LIMIT (3) 1 abs

1. Cowie’s SUNLEA CAST A SPELL OVER MEGIPUGI JW. Good looking 2 year old Fawn with good angulation front and rear. Loved his head and appealing expression. Bright eyed. Neat ears. Tidy size with good bone and well sprung ribs. A little untidy coming towards me and felt he may be a bit heavy. Dog of quality.

2. William & Howe’s JACKSTOPPER BLACK APPOLO Another two year old. Black male with lovely coat texture. Shiny and smooth. Friendly disposition and his eyes were large and mid brown. Longer in body than winner and would prefer more work and definition in head. Reasonable mover. Nicely turned out. Sired by the 2nd in Open and had many similar traits.

OPEN (3) 1 abs

1. Walker’s SUNLEA ROYAL ALBERT JW SHCM Handsome 4 year old. Large, dark eyes full of animation set in a head with good breed features. Square muzzle. Not up faced. Well defined wrinkles. Nose black. Liked his short back and cobby body. Good ribs. His topline was firm and he carried his tail twisted over his hip. Accomplished mover.

2. William & Howe’s CONQUELL SHADOW STOPPER Black boy one year older than winner. Such a sweet nature. Large, rounded head. Broad chest. Decent size with good substance. Not the definition in head of winner and could not match his movement.
