The North of England Weimaraner Society - July 28th 2019
Thank you to the society for this absolute honour and to the committee and my very efficient stewards who supported me on the day. Thank you too to the exhibitors for a thoroughly enjoyable afternoon; I was blessed with an outstanding entry both in quality and quantity which made for some very challenging decisions. Temperaments were excellent as was the conditioning in the dogs. I was so proud of my final line up of principal award winners and equally impressed by the calibre coming through in some exciting youngsters who gave many of the mature exhibits, of real top drawer quality, a run for the money.
Minor Puppy Dog (1,0)
1 Stamp’s Tynsil Starman
7 1/2 months. Masculine expression with eye of good size and shape. Decent length through the head with adequate balance between skull and muzzle. Moderate length of neck comparative to size. Plenty length in ribbing and sufficient depth in chest for age. Good width and strength in upper thigh but still needs to strengthen through the second thigh and hocks. Similarly needs to tighten in elbow to help tidy his movement out and back.
Puppy Dog (3,0)
1 Rayner & Maskell’s Kalimor Accolade to Raystans
Quality aplenty. Impressed for overall balance and so well conditioned for his age. Beautifully made in head with strength through the muzzle. Ear of good size and well set. Correctly shaped and sized eye of typical expression. Excellent in front and rear with firm topline. Cleaner through the shoulder than second. Well made through the middle with ample length and spring of rib. Plenty strength through the first and second thigh with correctly angulated quarters front and back. Moved out well to be awarded Best Puppy Dog.
2 Hawkins’ Smilek Fernando
Another with plenty to like. Well proportioned comparing overall length to height and with the power in general build called for in the standard. Masculine in head and expression though winner had slightly more scope through the muzzle. Strong through the neck and shoulder. Well made through the forechest with good muscling around the forequarters. Ample depth and length in ribs and firm though the loin. Hocks well let down. Sound mover.
3 Stamp’s Tynsil Starman
Junior Dog (4,0)
1 Rayner & Maskell’s Kalimor Accolade to Raystans (Repeat)
2 Thorne’s Mabanika Stetson
Head of good length with moderate stop. Strong neck into clean shoulders with good muscling to the upper arm. Ribs well sprung with ample depth to the chest and body. Moderately angulated in the rear with ample width and hocks well let down. Wasn't so settled on the stack at times which pulled down his topline however, in profile movement presented a pleasing outline and was sound moving out and back.
3 Hawkins’ Smilek Fernando
4 Gatt’s Sireva Thomas Newburgh
Yearling Dog (3,1)
Two nice youngsters.
1 Snaith’s Skilaki Move On Up to Bifonda JW
Beautifully made in the head with good balance between skull and muzzle and strength in jaw. Generally excellent in build. Stands firm and true in front with clean construction through neck and shoulder. Deep chested. Well proportioned in body and leg. Excellent length and spring of rib. Moderately angulated, well muscled hindquarters. Positive in action.
2 McMahon’s Silverkelvin Jupiter
Masculine in head and overall build. Typical in eye and expression. Strong neck of moderate length. Decent length in upper arm with strength through the chest. Excellent spring of rib with good depth through the brisket. Looked well when stacked but not yet as tidy in movement as the winner on the out and back; needing to mature is still on his side. Presented in excellent condition.
Novice Dog (1,0)
1 Hawkins’ Smilek Fernando (Repeat)
Post Graduate Dog (4,2)
1 Burgess’ Greyspirit Rock Star from Hantzburg JW
Preferred his movement both in profile and on the out and back. Head well shaped through the skull with excellent ear placement. Plenty strength in the jaw though could be a little stronger in muzzle. Strong neck of proportionate length set into clean shoulders. Well made though the rib with ample depth. Firm topline with tail well set on. Strong hindquarters.
2 Bennett’s Deifstock Dandini
In super condition with good muscling all through. Masculine head and keen expression, heavier in flews than the winner. Good ear. Strong neck. Well developed though the forechest with plenty depth though the chest and body. Plenty of power in his hindquarters with good width through the first and second thigh. Hocks well let down.
Limit Dog (7,3)
The top two excelled on the move and I really liked the dog in third place but today he insisted on pacing on the move so didn’t give of his best.
1 Davies’ Enryb Grouse Party at Shelseivad JW
Quality male who impresses from all angles. Masculine and so well balanced which is evidenced in his positive movement, robust and absolutely sound. Head of excellent shape with balanced proportions and strength in the jaw and muzzle. Excels in front assembly with good fill in the chest and well angulated through the shoulder and upper arm. Ribbed well back with minimal tuck-up. Super hindquarters, correctly angulated with excellent muscling and well let down into strong hocks. Dense coat of correct texture and colour.
2 Brierley’s Grausturm Hairy Potter (imp Aus) JWW’18
Longhair who pushed the winner hard and presented a pleasing outline. Unmistakably masculine. Head of correct proportions with good shaping through the skull and occiput. Strong neck. Plenty length and angulation through the upper arm into clean shoulder placement. Good depth though the brisket with ribs well back. Strong through the loin with good tailset. Powerful hindquarters, well muscled through the first and second thighs both of good width and with hocks well let down.

An exceptional male of outstanding quality. Completely sound and impressive on the move stemming from his true conformation and fit, hard muscle conditioning. Balanced throughout his frame with the desired proportions comparing length to height and depth of body to length of leg. Pleasing head with eyes of typical kind and intelligent expression. Good sized, well set ear. Well made through the neck and shoulders with plenty strength through the forechest and upper arm. Ribs well sprung into short, strong couplings with firm topline. Good angulation in his powerful hindquarters. Excelled on the move. Worthy winner of Best Dog, RBIS and BOS.

Another who impressed greatly. Loved him for type and balance; one that isn’t overdone in any aspect and has the correct proportions all through . Masculine head with balance comparing skull to foreface with ample strength through the jaw and muzzle. Superb front with plenty fill in the chest and depth through the ribs. Excellent build through the upper arm giving strength in his forequarters to match his excellent hindquarters. Clean lines right through the neck and shoulder, along his firm topline with correctly angulated croup and tailset. Strode out beautifully in profile. Minor Puppy Bitch (3,1)
1 Crowther-Russell & Crowther’s Hundwith Gift Of Thyme
Lovely puppy. Super head and eye with good ears. So well constructed in front; had more angulation in front particularly through the upper arm compared to others in the class. Excellent forehand and quarters. Sufficient depth in chest with ribs well back. Excellent width in hindquarters. Needed to settle at times but very much a baby brimming with type and promise. Showed pleasing balance and proportions when she did settle.
2 Isherwood’s Gunalt Parfait at Caleydene
Lots to like about this baby too. Feminine eye of typical expression. Good head proportions. Excellent build through the neck and shoulder with good topline and tailset. Good depth in chest for this stage of development and well ribbed back. Well angulated in front and hindquarters. Full of promise.
3 Atkinson’s Gunalt Intriguing

1 Reilly & Maskell’s Smilek I Have A Dream
Really well balanced and super to go over. Feminine in build whilst showing ample strength in construction for her age. Lovely head with correct shaping though the medial line and occiput. Eye of correct shape and kindly expression. Well proportioned all through with firm, level topline. Excellent hindquarters with ample width and strength through the thighs. So sound on the move. Delighted to award her Best Puppy Bitch and Best Puppy in Show.
2 Burgess’ Kalimor Olive for Nemrac Loved for type. Excellent head, beautiful expression with good shaping through the skull to give that aristocratic appearance. Moderate stop with good length through the head and balance in skull and muzzle. Well made ear that’s set well. Longer cast than one and so not presenting as firm in topline at this stage. Sound in front construction with strength across the chest. Stands true in front with nice, tight elbows. Stands parallel through powerful hindquarters with good muscling. Beautifully presented.

1 Hunt & Roberts’ Joneva Hollywood Glamour JW
Loved this girl who stood out to me for her type and soundness, being so impressive on the move. The loveliest head and eye; correct proportions through skull and foreface with plenty strength through the jaw and muzzle whilst being ultra feminine. Superb through neck and shoulder. Excellent construction through the upper arm. Excellent topline and tailset. Well made in rib and coupling. Excellent hindquarters from the moderate croup-line though well developed first and second thighs down to strong, firm hocks. I lost track of how young she is in the challenge as she comfortably held her own amongst the very strong competition in the bitch lineup. Considered her a very deserving award winner of Reserve Best Bitch.

Strong contest between these top two. This girl has such a nicely balanced head with plenty strength through the jaw and muzzle without losing the femininity. Excellent in ear and eye. Strong neck of moderate length. Well constructed in front with good return in upper arm and clean shoulder placement. Really strong through the forelimbs with sturdy pasterns. Serious contender for top honours.

Another super, sound bitch of correct balance and proportions. Again, I loved her type and sound construction. Lovely head and expression with that noble look coming through from the shaping and expression. Stands firmly in front and rear. Plenty depth in chest with ribs well sprung. The epitome of balance and soundness with breed type in good measure. Just loved her! She was absolutely on point today presenting a clean outline, well proportioned all through and truly accurate in her footfall on the move. Moderately long though the head with equal balance between skull and muzzle. Nicely shaped through the skull with definition through the median line adding to her lovely expression. Clean lines though the neck into shoulders that are well laid back. So well made in front and deep chested with ribs well sprung. Correct topline with moderate slope through the croup with tail well set. Strong correctly angulated hindquarters which powered her on the move. Beautifully presented in good coat of excellent colour. She strode out effortlessly. It was an absolute pleasure to have her stand as my choice for Best Bitch and Best in Show.

Correct high set ear. Stands firm in front with excellent muscling to the upper arm and chest areas. Ribbed well back. Excellent shape though the hindquarters.
