WHIPPETS

Thank you to the Committee for inviting me to judge Whippets at this show, it has always been a favourite of mine, and for the hospitality shown to me on the day.

Puppy (4, 1abs)

1 Webb’s CROSSCOP SHADOW DANCING. 8 month old red brindle dog. Still a raw puppy who was making his handler work hard today. A well-balanced dog. Long elegant neck and nice topline which he held on the move. A deep chest and definite tuck up gave a lovely outline in profile. Would prefer a bit more weight on him, but he moved well once settled and could not be denied the class and BPIB.

2 Gibb’s ABERLARK LONE WOLF AT SUNSTORM. I found a lot to like about this 9 month old fawn with white trim dog. A masculine dog throughout without exaggeration. A super head and expression and a nice outline in profile. He was quite unsettled today which affected his movement and cost him first place but on a different day these dogs could easily swap places.

3 Gibb’s ABERLARK PRIM ‘N’ PROPER AT SUNSTORM.

Junior (3, 3abs)

Post Graduate (10, 7abs)

1 Jones’ KENAITEEN BLIZZARD AT SILVERGARTH. 18 month old brindle particoloured bitch who caught my eye as soon as she entered the ring. Curvy whippet with an excellent topline and underline. Nicely muscled thighs and well bent stifles into well let down hocks. Shown in good condition and moved well. Overall, a well-balanced and proportioned bitch with no exaggerations. Pleased to award her BOB.

2 Burton’s ADAGIO ALTAIR (Imp Swe). 2 year old eye-catching brindle bitch of a different type to 1. Superb topline and underline giving a very curvy outline in profile. Nice spring of pasterns and deep chest. Lovely mover and shown well.

3 Webb’s CROSSCOP SOMEBODY TO LOVE.

Open (8, 5abs)

1 Webb’s KHABARAYTIME HELLO CROSSCOP. 6 year old red brindle particoloured dog. I liked this dog a lot, masculine yet elegant throughout. Good head and neck and excellent rear angulation which he used well on the move. An eye-catching top quality dog who pushed hard for BOB but I felt he lacked a little bit of drive on the move in the challenge that he had in the class, but it was a very close decision.

2 Third’s TANGO TIME OF BRUNTSFIELD. 7 year old fawn bitch who is looking great for her age. Lovely head and expression, long elegant neck, flowing curves and nicely muscled.

3 Burton’s CORNSTALK PARTI GIRL.
